BlueChinchillaEatingDorito reacted to kirashi in Cheap windows key that isn't illegal or a scam?
Grey market key sites that don't abide by Microsoft's End User License Agreement (EULA) or that don't have a reseller agreement may be selling keys acquired through illicit means. While the keys might be legit, they may have been purchased from a company's IT staff member looking to sell "extra" keys for quick cash or from an official source using a stolen credit card.
Since there's no way to verify the legitimacy of where these keys are acquired, it's recommended to only purchase Windows from officially licensed resellers, like Newegg, Amazon, Memory Express, Canada Computers, Micro Center, etc. to ensure you're not accidentally contributing to what might be an illegitimate activity used to acquire a legitimate software license key.

Just throwing out ideas, but perhaps retrofitting wireless charging to the tablet could also be a solution.

BlueChinchillaEatingDorito got a reaction from BiotechBen in How to tell if a GPU is dead?
Some telltale signs are when the BSODs are all graphics driver related, or there are consistent artifacts on screen.
Did the card POST before? Does your motherboard have POST LEDs or a 7-segment display to show your POST codes?

BlueChinchillaEatingDorito got a reaction from pr1vatepiles in Are trust me bro cables still on the roadmap?
Considering the little margin and how people tend to purchase cables purely based on price and not quality (we all say we put quality above else but then we just end up buying the cheapest on Amazon, be honest), I wouldn't be putting all my resources in such a project either.

I presume since the tablet is for a child, that port isn't going to be used for data much. It'll be used for charging 99% of the time. And as for efficiency, well the minimal increase in the electricity bill would likely be outweighed by the number of cables being replaced over a year.

I think you got it framed wrong here. It's about creating positive father and son/daughter experiences for them, not mainly for you. That's how you remembered the good times with your father. But what you're trying to do with your kids, is the opposite to that.

BlueChinchillaEatingDorito got a reaction from da na in New laptop for school - Integrated vs Dedicated GPU
Note Intel Iris Xe graphics are not like the upcoming Intel Arc graphics coming with Intel Ultra chips. The RTX 4050 will still quite handsomely beat it in any gaming workloads.
Also to note, Iris Xe will likely just run out of memory to allocate for VRAM as it's predefined in the BIOS usually no more than 512MB if your UEFI setup even allows. That option is common on business laptops, but not so much on consumer ones.

BlueChinchillaEatingDorito reacted to SansVarnic in Getting 9 year old to play games other than Roblox?
As a parent myself I see roblox as inappropriate for minors. Plenty of information to back this up with a quick search, it's not allowed and I have given my children my reasoning why instead of just giving a my way or highway approach.
But to the point and again as a dad, your asking the right question but in the wrong way. It's not a matter of getting them to stop playing a game because you won't play it, it is amatter of introducing something you want to share with them that they will be willing to participate with you. Stop thinking about your wants but what they are willing to accept about you and what your sharing.
Sorry but it seems to me you're looking at this from a me perspective instead a them perspective.

So if I understand correctly, she wants to play Roblox with you but you don't want to play that game.
So now you're asking for help finding games that both of you might enjoy?
By the way, I think you should be more careful about how you word your posts. Calling your daughter slurs, being demeaning towards the things she likes and such is not exactly a good way to come across as "dad of the year". I think that's why a lot of people seem to react a certain way towards your posts.

Since you just built it and there is no os, you don't need to do anything with bitlocker.
That you setup in windows to encrypt the drive.
In this case I would hit y.

True in terms of raw CPU performance. But in terms of gaming performance as a package, that 2070 might give the Intel system a slight edge over the Ryzen. Which is why the choice isn't as clear-cut.
Yes if you upgrade the GPU on the Ryzen system it'll smoke the older Intel platform, but that's not the exact scenario here.

BlueChinchillaEatingDorito got a reaction from Middcore in Crossfire support
The performance would essentially be the equivalent of a single 6450 +/- maybe 10% which you could say is within margin of error. Crossfire and SLI barely worked and even when it did, it was at most <50% performance gain. You were always much better off just buying a higher-tier GPU when these things were new.

But you just said it's not showing up in the UEFI setup. So is it or not?
That page on HP's website is just based on what configurations HP ships. SATA is a universal standard so you can use any SATA drive on any SATA port. The only difference is the supported speed based on the revision of the port and the drive. But it's all backward compatible.

BlueChinchillaEatingDorito reacted to Middcore in Notice anything weird?
It's a fair question.
The super lightweight gaming mice thing is a bit of a fad. It can be advantageous but for most people it's not going to make you any better at games.
Without actually having had my hands on the mouse in the video, I am guessing it isn't actually just the weight. There is a certain way that very cheap ewaste-tier peripherals feel, almost... hollow? It's a flimsiness you can identify right away.
