Mick Naughty got a reaction from Hairless Monkey Boy in planning out a custom loop, could use some pointers!
The premochill stuff is good enough. Not sure of a cheaper option as its already cheap and comes with stuff you would need to buy anyway. Add 89 cents and get a gallon of distilled water. Or by ek fluid for $20 and get their hose, price would equal out a bit. Never had an issue with my nickel blocks in any loop with either fluid/additive.

All name brand fittings are good enough. I tend to get ek 90 and 45 swivels are they are the color I want and then multi barb bitspower fitting for the hose as I stopped doing compression fittings.

If your board supports temp probes or youre gonna get the little display, I would do so. Maybe add a visual flow meter. Just something to help show if the flow is impeded over time if you watch and learn if based of the percentage of the pump.

I’d upgrade myself. If they were available I’d already have one in preparation for a water block.
Not much headroom left on my cpu but that’s a risk I’ll take for now.

Depends on the card and what they may have done to it.
Most of mine were mined on and I did so for awhile too. Never had an issue nor would there be any.
Only bought 10 series fe cards.

When I made your card, I gave it a little extra. Because I think you’re special.

Mick Naughty got a reaction from IJD in DUAL GPU - GTX 1080 Ti + RTX 3080, would it work? / is it worth it?
Depends on what you expect them to do. The 3080 cant do normal sli so its useless compared to a pair of cards that can.
Id sell them both for a 3090 then you can get another one of those down the line. A proper build.

It’s performing as intended. Not sure what you were expecting.

Use nvidia inspector and setup multi monitor power saver.

Could try it’s fan software as well. Assuming you are actually deleting all the other software installed before using another.

So it just clocks high, don't see why that would bother you. Has nothing to do with load.

Cant say much about the fan control, I dont by that brand for a few reasons. Normally programs give me fan control without issues. Maybe try another one.

I’d get the cpu now. I had to upgrade from that cpu when the 10 series launched while on 1440p. Couldn’t imagine with that card on any res.

Well test with and without them there.
My pc’s aren’t effected much. Maybe 2-3 on the card. Don’t care much for temps that much to be a bother. They keep us all warm.

Mick Naughty got a reaction from NadeMagnet69 in How do you power long RGB strips (4 pin) with a PC?
Get a powered hub. Check it’s rating I guess.
I have a meter in my rig, I’m sure it could handle 2. Think I’m using the cable mod kit and some add on strips.

Bought the same one for $400. Another one somewhat local for the price. Could always use a second one. And for the price and convenience, it’s gonna be better than me waiting to get ahold of some new card.

Mick Naughty got a reaction from HM-2 in getting my nose wet for the first time
I watched declassified systems and singularity computers YouTube channels for years before making a single loop.
One has a section for teaching and does a way better job of everything compared to to more mainstream YouTubers.

But I’d find components you like visually first. And go from there.
Copper or nickel plated copper stuff is the norm and easier to get for a variety of parts.

If the case can fit a 480, do it. That way you can add what ever later and still have low fan speeds and low temps. Which should be the goal overall.

Also looking up builds in the same case will give you an idea of what it’s gonna be like or could look like.

Mick Naughty got a reaction from Rybo in Beginner water cooling: cost of entry + is it a mistake?
Just buy the full cover blocks, already cheap and cool the whole thing which should be the point. Whole ass one job instead of half assing two.
I put a block on my 1060 recently, as anything is better than have an air cooled card in the system.

But like another said, Id do a repaste, my 1080fe's ran at that temp without lowering the power.

Mick Naughty got a reaction from Stahlmann in Custom loop water temp
I stay between 35-41c. I don’t want it in the high 40’s for prolonged use given how the blocks react to that kinda temp. Only had one warped block so far but I know a lot more now.

I just the case on what ever side I need to. Gotta plan that into the build. If it isn’t perfect or simple, you won’t get everything out. Assuming that’s the goal. Takes some serious planning depending on the complexity.

Doubt it will do well. Given how the card performs and how little that cpu can handle.
Maybe with vsync and/or serious frame limitation you could get by on solo gameplay.

Not sure id trust the psu for the task, but thats something you can find out once you get it running.

The hose I buy is full of shit and takes time to flush out.
but I have room to hide a large filter so I use a standard 3/8id fuel filter and put it in the back. Try to limit the restriction for mine given how much stuff it has.
