Depends on the game. Every game I have ever played supports sli. And the 1 great card theory only works with the best card. The fact most results only show 10-15 frames which isn't much. Two cards still beat one in sythentic and I notice marginal gains with a single card. For the price of two 980ti's I'd rather go for a 1080. If those were my only choice anyway.

Both of my 1080 have had decent performance. My old ass Titans still beat them at everything. And the weak b stock 980's were better too. The 1080 does put out more frames average which account for something I guess. And yes no one cares about benchmarks which is why they're in every youtube video and even this site has a dedicated section for it.
so I would get an xp prolly stil will as the past 2 gens worth of cards seem to be a waste aside from a Titan. But I still say to go for the 1080 between the two choices.

Well youre gpu usage isn't even consistent, so something is a problem. For the driver to crash its all in the card at that point, as in I doubt its cpu. But dx11 may give us a better idea of that.

I noticed cpu usage goes down quite a bit on dx12 but so do frames. Its the opposite with dx11. For me atleast.

Ok, so you tried it with the core clock turned down, I assume you also tried it with everything at stock and the fan(s) at max on the card?

So what are the graphic settings? Did you try with everything on low? As you can see the vram is maxed. Just wonna narrow down the causes.

Doubt you could ever get the card cold enough to cause an issue. 17c is only 3 degrees colder then what my cards see. Still well within standard operating temps.

Like stated don't have anything plugged in the psu aside from the pump. I've done it every way and never had any issue even after all my leaks.

I would get evga cards stricky for the programs. After getting my strix and being forced to use gpu tweak I took it back.  In Ali setups I will always run blower style unless I'm on water. Open air produce way to much hot air heating up everything else. So at that point I need just as much air coming in as going out and barley positive air pressure to keep the rest of the components cool. I got better temps with blowers period compared to when they had open air coolers. They also look much better unless you're hopping on the rgb bandwagon.

I bought the non oc version. A friend spent the extra for the oc version. Mine boosts higher then his. So I'd say it isn't worth it. Kinda pointless when you can oc. Also pointless if you think you'll notice that small oc in fps, unless you're playing a crappy game like bo3.

I actually had water work its way between the CPU and mobo. So all the pins were wet. The PC would actually get to the login screen of windows and run for a few minutes. After the 3rd try I pulled the CPU out and found the issue real quick.

Bought from eBay and Amazon. All the cards in currently running are used and 2 of the water blocks on them. I buy new when a new card comes out. Just so I can return it when it lets me down.

So a 1080 on the tv. That should give you what you want. Also 32 gigs is prolly close to the norm now. Even my old setup has 32. I noticed and fps increase every 8 gigs I added.

Find a micro center. Best buy carry corsair products. They can also order them if they don't have them in store.

You can buy an ek aio for the CPU  then order an add on block for the gpu which will also be pre filled. You would just have to connect the quick disconnects and your golden.

Had my d5(I think) pushing 1 cup, 2 gpu's, ram block, 1 280 and 3 360 rads. Quite happy with it.

If the fans are spinning to slow and the pump it that low, the system prolly can't do its job. Mine does the same when I have everything low.

Mick Naughty got a reaction from Jumper118 in Buying second hand GPU, is it worth it?
I would buy second had, I already have several times. Never regretted it. I wouldn't buy it if the price isn't fair based on the performance of the card though.

I tried doing that when I did all my testing. Putting a fan directly below did nothing. Pretty sure my temps were as low as they were gonna get.

Should prolly stick something in there to keep them from spinning or unplug them. They should last longer that way.

Having owned two of those cards, I can say it would depend on the game and res played. I sold them for two 980's then sold those for two titan blacks. Considering a 1080 now.
I would get what ever is in your budget,  whether its a 980ti, 1070 or 1080.
