Mick Naughty got a reaction from LauriHimself in First custom loop / GPU block help
Could always paint the acrylic. Might open the options up more. Id rather take a used ek block over anything. Best build quality and looks.

Mick Naughty got a reaction from silencer12 in Is it must to use DDU
Only use it when I have an actual issue I cant figure out. So maybe 3 times in a decade. But tends not to be the issue. Its never really needed if using the same driver anyway, performing a clean install is more than enough.

It’s a shame when you scroll back just a few pages and see almost every rig having multiple cards. Gone with the times it seems.
Grabbed some old parts, some new and remade my spare rig again. Currently my school computer and possibly work from home setup.

Finally took the grinder to one of my 540’s and make a hole for another 280 rad. Been wanting to do this for years but wanted another case first. Worked out well without me needing to make a false floor with abs which was the original plan.
Contemplating doing it to the other rig.
Also waiting on the new custom price of tempered glass to replace the aged acrylic.

Little upgrade from 280 rad to two 480s 🤣

Mick Naughty got a reaction from ApolloX75 in First timer - will everything at least fit together?
New or used the ring would be fine. A lot of block options. Still plenty on eBay. Just gave away 4 myself.
A nice pump is just for piece of mind.

Not an issue with an fe card. Unless you have dirty power.

Mick Naughty got a reaction from Mark Kaine in Jays 2 cents unsubscribed
I only watch his build videos. Way too bias with everything, especially after he tried to give fps gaming advice being so bad at them.

Nope. Plenty of videos showing the results.

Mick Naughty got a reaction from CreepingDeath in Is the i9 9900K still good for 1440p gaming in 2023?
Playing 2042, all cores are pegged at 100%. Plays perfect though. Would overclock more but only yields better render times when making videos.
Frames are on the low end on mw2 as well. But not worth an upgrade for me only playing one game a year.

Mick Naughty got a reaction from Eigenvektor in 2 screens in 1 gpu?
Well I dont know how many you get now. Try it and find out, its quite simple. Doubt you will notice any loss.

Mick Naughty got a reaction from Eigenvektor in 2 screens in 1 gpu?
Its not doing anything its not designed for. Just do it and see for yourself.

Mick Naughty got a reaction from SorryBella in Best source/setup for controlling fan speed?
You can make profiles that average the cpu and gpu temp. Or split rads per device. I never base mine off anything but the cpu and gpu temp.
no point in me doing it based of air or coolant temp.
If it’s too loud then the profile is simply too high.
Optimal is gonna be your noise to temp ratio. No one will know that but you.

Mick Naughty got a reaction from OnionRings in How bad is daisy chaining?
Seems to clock low, so wouldnt worry about it in real world. Only run my 3090 on two 6 pins straight to the psu. Mine sits at 1950 for hours. Never had a power issue with my 850watt.
-
Mick Naughty got a reaction from Sexy_potato in Am I missing something or doing something wrong?
So it’s just one rad for both cards? Assuming you are using the air cooler listed for the cpu.
Wouldn’t be bad at all, depends on the temps and fan noise you’d prefer. New standard people prefer a 240 per component. If the parts are already bought I’d give it a try and go from there.
Assuming the area is gonna get sufficient air flow should be fine.

Mick Naughty got a reaction from RevGAM in Inexpensive but good quality fans
Yea the Arctic stuff is pretty nice. Skipped making my last rig with noctua, can get 5 for the price of one.
even offer rgb for the alphabet people now.

Any of them. I get the 5 packs.

Mick Naughty got a reaction from Hurin in An Idiot Builds Custom Loop: Noob Questions
Well you could add filters. It’s normal to get stuff but I only do a few flushes. Normally forget to do it on all builds.
but given the hoses I use used to clog my blocks, I’d just take it all apart in a year and clean the blocks.
I only do hot water but most people say to use vinegar. I only use a chemical like CLR when rads are stained from coolants.

Mick Naughty got a reaction from vicluber in Is it ok to plug a 6 pin from my power supply into the 8 pin in my GPU?
Buy an adapter.
-
Mick Naughty got a reaction from BondiBlue in Is it ok to plug a 6 pin from my power supply into the 8 pin in my GPU?
Well that may be true, but that doesn't mean the card with actually work without sensing those two pins.
Sounds like the psu is crap if it doesnt have a single 8pin cable.

e85 isnt about saving money. Its about lower egt's and a lower flash point. Wont run like crap if you tune or it already has a content sensor.

Mick Naughty got a reaction from Smestn in Fractal Torrent Nano vs Lian Li O11 Air Mini
With the right fans I’d rather take the mini. Even stock setup should be much better.
And the layout of addition fans would help if it’s gonna be a poor cooling card.
Modular design helps when using smaller boards as well.
With the right parts they can be equally quite. Would rather have more airflow if you are going to limit fan rpms for less noise while in use.

Mick Naughty got a reaction from 191x7 in Using midrange or highend hardware on 1080p and wondering why it underperforms? Here's the thread for you.
Yea I wish my cpu could keep up. Hate going with 1440p. But cheaper to get a monitor than upgrade the rig.
