Uh… what’s the issue with this? I’m legitimately confused because it looks like this is entirely a good thing….

Musk clearly just wants to unleash his army of muskrats on twitter bypassing the legal system entirely.

niofalpha got a reaction from Hybris5112 in Tesla Stock Plunge Wipes Out $114 Billion
Tesla composes roughly 5% of the Index so a lot of it can be blamed on Tesla. Due to some fancy market magic related to ETFs, Tesla definitely contributed to the overall decline.
Plus with Netflix missing earnings, lots of investors are sheepish on Tech at the moment. MS beats earnings, and Google missed, so we're probably seeing the trend continue for the foreseeable future.

niofalpha reacted to Lightwreather in Nintendo's Next console will launch within the next 79 years
I'll admit that that title is a bit clickbaity
Summary
Nintendo explains to investors that the Switch console is probably sticking around for quite some time.

My thoughts
Transcript for the Investor call is linked in the sources below. I'm sure there'll be a whole host of other interesting information in that document (but I don't want to go through it rn, not to mention that it'll probably be a lot for a single tech news post here). But yea, as disappointing as it may be, there will not be any other new console or switch iteration from Nintendo for the forseeable Future. Although, as the source article notes, this isn't really out of line for nintendo as both DS and 3DS had 9 year life spans and the wii had an 11 year life span. Well, I suppose that's that and we probably should move on and wait for another 4 years but who knows, Nintendo might pull a fast one on us and surprise us with a switch Pro (Come on nintendo you know you want to do this...... Pwetty Pwease)

niofalpha got a reaction from Gamer Schnitzel in IGN Takes down Article sharing Palestine Aid Groups
IGN Posted several tweets and articles sharing links on donating to support Palestinian aid funds following the recent bombings.
My thoughts
I was honestly shocked to see the article posted in the first place, given the usual media silence on this issue. Gamespot and Kotaku's articles are still up as well. I think it's important to look at this and not be angry that it was deleted, but glad that it was posted first.

I hope Hytale tears this game down... This game adds a few new blocks, a mob, and +10% server lag and calls it an update. (seriously, this game has been laggy shit since 1.13) That's been the cycle for years now. Mojang is lazy and Microsoft sucks. This game is completely carried by it's community (servers are built by community, mods are built by community, plugins, etc etc etc) and all Microsoft has done is make it harder for the community. Trying to take down bukkit, trying to get a cut of big server's income, etc. As someone who has played off and on since beta, I'm ready for better. Bye Minecraft!

I'm yet to see a convincing argument that this is on the whole a bad thing.

niofalpha got a reaction from Results45 in Tesla Battery Day 2020: Is foresight 20/22?
Public transit
Yes, then fund public transit so it's not shitty. Public transit in America is so shitty because there have been concentrated lobbying efforts for the last century to defund public transit so it's shitty to drive up car ownership rates. And when people say "investing in public transit", a part of it includes bike and pedestrian paths, which has the same (or greater) benefits as public transit. The perfect example of a city that does public transit "right" is Amsterdam (Statistics are similar in The Hague and Rotterdam). There are is only a car for every 4 households, because the city does public transit right. There are bike paths everywhere, cheap fast public transit.
See, this argument falls apart when you realize that the high number of cars in North America is largely caused by the complete lack of other options. If I wanted to go to either of the larger cities near me, there are literally no options other than driving. If there was something like a rail line, or a busline The American and Canadian governments subsidize fossil fuels to help keep gas prices low. These two boost demand for cars. Reducing either of these (or increasing the sin taxes on gasoline) would drive the demand for cars down. It's literally High School economics. Of course there is going to be a high demand for cars, you have to have one.

I have some bad news for you;
Meanwhile, Mercedes just announced their first vehicle (a bus) with a solid-state battery. Very revolutionary, and it is mass transportation, so it actually does what Tesla's "mission" claims to be about - fighting climate change.

If you don't want people to scalp GPUs, convince people that they don't need a new GPU. Consumerism is what causes this.

Halo Infinite will have free to play multiplayer when it launches in a few months.
I think this is part of the push by Microsoft for Halo to return as a prominent esport (see their recent HCS moves), and I think this will help with that. If CSGO's player numbers since it went free to play a few months ago are anything to go by, I think this will be a big boost for the game. The only thing that worries me about it is that there will definitely be more cheaters, especially if the game is going to be pushed as an esport.
