    Whatever AMD fan boys says, Intel is way better for gaming. AMD fan boys are the ones that like to make unfair comparaison between products that aren't made for the same purpose at all. Like comparing Titan cards (double precision focus for professionnal 3D stuff, etc.) with cheap Radeon graphic cards that overheat. They compare 1000$ Intel CPU (5960X) saying Intel suck 'cause 1000$ CPU don't give as much as games performance scaling between this one and mainstream i7 denying at first that 5960X isn't there for gaming but way more about rendering and professional stuff at a beast level. They usally forget about the existence of the i5 because it's about the same price of their most expensive FX series processor which is a fair comparison this time and unfortunatly, i5 is better in gaming on any AMD FX processor to date. If you need the additonnal cores of the FX for rendering stuff, that's another story. Hope you liked my post and hope that make some AMD fan boys hurt

    And not everyone has to, that's the great part about this. If you're the type of person who would willingly give up your warranty in pursuit of extra performance, then congrats Asus now offers you just that. If you'd rather keep the warranty on your CPU and lose the potential performance increase then don't buy a motherboard that has the extra pins. There's no reason to bash Asus for providing a beneficial feature that you happen to not be interested in. You don't burn down a museum for displaying a painting you don't like, you walk away and let everyone else enjoy the museum because there will be people who like that painting. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean no one should have the option.

    *Asus thinks outside the box and adds feature to benefit overclockers and enthusiasts*

    *Overclockers and enthusiasts angry because the added performance doesn't come with Intel's blessing*

    What's wrong with you hypocrites? You demand innovation and better products out of mobo manufacturers and when they deliver, you completely denounce them. If you really want Intel's "approval" go buy a mainstream cpu with a locked multiplier and have fun with your factory approved performance. LGA 2011 and X99 are not for average joe who wants to try building his first computer, they are designed for enthusiasts who are willing to push boundaries and take risks in pursuit of squeezing every last drop of performance out of their already insanely overkill rigs. Starting with the very first overclockers, Intel never has and never will approve of the enthusiasts who desire the performance they deserve rather than what Intel wants to sell them. Those of you trying to rub Asus' name in the dirt over this are an absolute disgrace. Intel has screwed over enthusiasts time and time again, and on the one occasion that we are given the tools to finally flip off old man intel, you have the nerve to be angry with Asus for not asking Intel's permission before smacking them in the face. Remember Haswell, remember Intel's empty promises to enthusiasts and then think real hard about who's approval you're asking for. </rant>

    Phalolia reacted to smjpl in Piracy in the United Kingdom Decriminalised
    You can't look at an individual case and say it is stealing therefore loss in revenue. All you can do is look at the overall affect piracy has on the entertainment industry sales. Many people pirate, some would have bought it but a large portion would never have bought it even if they couldn't pirate it. But 100% of the people will advertise it to their friends. How might this affect it?

    I am going to make up figures here so don't quote me or anything but lets guess that possibly 25% of all pirates would have bought it if they couldn't get it for free. But the other 75% who would never have bought it could possibly encourage other legitimate customers to purchase it. Let guess a figure of 26% (just so it is different). So if that were the case, then they could possibly recover 18.75% of the total loss in potential pirate sales resulting in a theoretical loss of 5.5%  of total pirate downloads. (5.5% = 25% - 19.5%)

    So the formula:

    RL = revenue lost (% number downloads)
    PL = % of pirates who would buy if couldn't pirate  (25% = 0.25)
    Pr = % recovered from pirate advertising (26% = 0.26)

    RL = PL - [(1-PL)*(Pr)]

    Plug in the values:

    ==> RL = 0.25 - [(1 - 0.25)x0.26] = 0.055 = 5.5% (loss)

    Now I would say those numbers are a bit conservative. I would guess 8% for potential loss PL and here is why. You seem to forget the sheer volume of stuff pirated. Most people wouldn't be able to afford the amount of stuff they have pirated over the years. From my own experiences, I would say people most people might possibly buy around 5-8 percent of what they pirate, and I live in a developed country. If you take developing nations into account,  I'd say it is a lot less. Now for advertising, I would say the recovered rate mighty be somewhere around 10%. I tend to recommend films quite a bit and most people I know don't pirate that much. The tech heads do but we are a rarer bread. So lets plug these values back in.

    RL = 0.08 - [(1 - 0.08)x0.1] = -0.092 = -9.2%

    A negative value for loss? Wait, doesn't that mean profit? So total sales could increase by 9.2% of the total number of downloads.

    Okay before someone attacks me, I am not saying piracy profits the entertainment industry. All I am doing is creating an oversimplified model to show how the piracy numbers could affect sales numbers. And you could argue all day over those numbers.

    It isn't as simple as to say piracy is stealing and to put the total download numbers as lost sales.

    Beautiful review! Love the quality and straight up no bs fashion of your reviews Linus.
    Really like the covers for the HDD area, the PSU area and the included reservoir mount aaand of course those velcro straps .. genious - those are some sweet features that even the already very reputable and popular manufactureres provide.
    Would have liked some info on how much flex, stability, sturdyness or well I don't really know the word in english the case as a whole has since I'm taking my PC around from my place to my dad's place every few months in university holidays...

    Keep it up Linus your videos have unmatched quality on Youtube. You know what people care about and what they don't. I think there really is no place for all those "reviews" where people show the specs of something using its box, then take all the accessories out the box slooowly so that everyone falls asleep and then go ahead, take the actual thing out and show all the stuff written on the box  redundandly once again without telling anything at all about if there is any use for the product. I went back the other day and noticed how much you developed in that respect... while what I just mentioned was pretty much the purpose of your NCIX videos I truely appreciate the way you moved away from it providing so much more value with your videos.
