I applaud your purchase of a Focus RS.  I love mine.  I do miss my first RS though, I loved the Stealth Gray.  That car got T-boned by a red light runner.  I replaced it with the frozen while one below.

Think I've found short term lease will be my best option, got my mini in October for a year and its only approx £200 a month for the duration, no upfront cost either so £2500 for a brand new mini for a year at 20 was a no brainer. No maintenance to worry about either.

Just clocked 5200 miles in the thing already, picked it up on 3

Being it seems that my computer hobby is the least expensive of what keeps me busy outside of work.  My fair weather/weekend car.  1987 Buick Grand National.  65k original miles.  Got it repainted a little less than 2 years ago.  Engine & drivetrain are almost stock, 275hp 400ftlb at the tires.

    So,

    New bike
    Bought a 1984 GSX750ES last night!

Has problems, but I already solved the one that I expected to be a pain; the leaking fork leg. Just used a cut to size laptop privacy filter to make a DIY forkbuddy, cleaned out the oil seal, and now it does not seem to be leaking anymore!

The next problem is the fuel tank, its full of rust. Very easy to remove off the bike so I'll clean that out and coat it. The petcock is stuck too so I might replace that while I am at it, it's like €50 for a new one.

One of the rear indicators is held on by tape, headlight glass has a small hole in it, intake rubbers might need replacing but I'm not sure, carbs might need a cleaning/rebuild but not sure. Going to do tires and fluids before summer 2021

The good stuff is that the brake rotors, brake hoses and fluids seem to have been replaced very recently and seemingly by OEM parts. The exhaust is aftermarket 4 into 1, sounds and looks great. The seat has been reclad at least once and is in decent condition. Basically all electronics besides the killswitch on the side stand seem to be in good nic. Only a small amount of surface rust in a couple of places. Sprockets and chain are in good condition but chain needs a clean and relube probably.

86000km on the meter, paid €510
    Oh
yah and the battery is sideways for some reason

I tried to put together a short video about my Audi.

I think it turned out okayish.

I have done a little bit of photography before but never tried recording yet video editing.

I have to say it was way more fun than I had expected, recording and trying to edit it.

On my R33 this week, Tein Flex Z's raised up approx 1" in the front and rear for better wheel fitment.
Also installed a CUBE Speed Shortshifter kit and centering springs, and got my JDM Plates fitted.

Next week will be new Rota Grid (18x9.5) and tyres. Also have a new bonnet stops, carbon fiber radiator cooling plate and GT-R oil catch & washer tank on the way.
Need to start polishing up the headlights to see if I can save them for a Bi-Xenon & Demoneye retrofit.

Need to price up fitting side skirts, front lip and respray (look at those stone chips on the front!) later in the year.
I'm also considering having a go at spraying the kit at home

I have gotten the brass gears for the mmi display, I have put everything back together and it works great.

I only had 2 bolts left when I was done, I have no idea where they are supposed to be lol.

    Don't mind that its dirty.

The MMI screen is in closed position.

    MMI in opened position.

The next issue is the battery drain, I'll do some testing, maybe that the system couldn't go into sleep mode because of that bad control module.

They can fit surprisingly large people inside.
Feel go-karty (small light nimble little cars).
As reliable and comfortable as a BMW. (i see this as a good thing .. until there is a electrical fault)

Long time no post, I finally did some serious troubleshooting about the electrical problems in my dirt cheap A8.

A short recap about the car, I bought it for a steal, it was overheating and there was battery drain and the Sound/radio/nav screen did not work.
The overheating issue was a bad hydraulic tensioner on the timing belt making the water pump not spin, I changed that and it runs and drives very good mechanically.

Using scan tool to scan the optical bus and using "loops" I could isolate one unit to be broken, the media head unit.
I also did a normal scan and got a few codes like the rear right door control unit was also  broken, it could not be reached.

I pulled the interior to get access to the head unit, while I was in there i removed the MMI screen to change some plastic cogs out for brass ones as they usually break.

I opened up the head unit and it was water damaged, I did some research and found an untested unit in Norway for 1/5 of the prices on ebay and in Sweden.

Plugged that in and everything started to work I had expected it not to work or at least going to Audi dealer to remove component protection but it just worked

I also changed the rear right door control unit it was so easy, pop the door panel off, and then there it was unplug and plug in the new one.

I'll get the brass cogs next week and I'll be putting everything back together then.

Testrode a CBX750F last night in the darkness, ice and gravel. It's listed for pretty cheap, €1000 and insurance is €65 a year. Don't have my A lisence yet but I think I'll still buy it if my friend with a garage space replies that the deal to split it between us is still on.

It was super fun to ride, made some good sounds and felt healthy. Seller had done a lot of maintenance work recently like checking the entire top end, new gaskets basically everywhere, new clutch, new fluids and some other stuff. Only very minor things remain, one mirror is broken, dosnt have any barends and needed another washer in one spot

Nope! But, you do need an adequate amount of power. Say, 400. Y'know, just enough to get out of your own way, not enough to melt spacetime. Sufficient power.

Point being, big numbers (horsepower and high FPS) that to the average consumer are in situations where they cannot take full advantage of them.

I'd go 3L non turbo in a heartbeat-- buddy had an N52 engined Z4 3.0si...whatever the E series is without the retracting hardtop. Super sweetheart of a motor, and that's coming from me and my S54 CSL-warped perspective. Fuel efficiency is irrelevant for a toy car-- buy the most entertaining motor and figure the rest out later.

I would not touch a turbo BMW with someone else's 10 foot pole. Doubly so for the turbo-4 cylinder engines. Why buy an expensive sports car that sounds bad AND is unreliable AND has an unremarkable motor?

(before I get murdered, good sounding 4 cyls: S2000, ITR, Miatae, E30 M3, 190e cosworth)

(also see: cayman/boxster ditching the turbo-flat-4 because noone wants a shitty sounding toy car)

The 23i's engine is worse than the 28i's reliability wise as I've read. A reasonable tad worse.

Sounding meh is pretty bad in my books, specially for a Z4 ?
