  1. Haha, I'd definitely not do that! I'll have my focus on a bit of Siege and I did think about grabbing a Zowie gaming monitor to go for 144Hz but seeing as how 3D is more of my priority than gaming, I decided to instead try and invest for a Dell Ultrasharp next and keep my gaming to minimum during the next 2-3 years. So I will play graphics intense games like the upcoming Metro/Division 2 and more to come, but I'd definitely not go 4k for them. And at current time, I only play R6 Siege with Mid-High settings even though my card could handle more, there are some benefits to the low settings in this game. Thanks for reassuring, my doubts get the best of me and they have made me make some bad decisions in the past and so I wanted to clarify everything with experts in here. It's always been a great experience to have talked about any future upgrading plans on here.
  2. Alright, great! I'd try waiting around if I could. The reason I'm now getting a bit uneasy is because the monitor shuts down without me playing anything, by just regular uses such as watching YT or doing general surfing on the web. And after that happens, the PC shuts down so I'm thinking this card could give up any time and I may not be able to use the computer at all. If it does do that, then I'll be grabbing the 1080Ti because I'd have no choice. Otherwise I'll use my onboard video card to try and wait around for a month or two. Thanks for your answers! They do help.
  3. So for the last question, if I were to go with a 1080Ti right now. How long do you think I'd find it suffice? Here's my needs exactly : I don't care much about playing games on ultra, right now I'm fine with playing on my 780 that handles games at about Mid-High settings and I dont mind that at all. I dont have a 4K monitor and I dont intend to go there. Because my focus is on 3D Modeling, I'm thinking of getting a 1440p Dell's Ultrasharp instead. So for the 3D work and me playing games at 1080/1440p at max, what do you think?
  4. What do you suppose about people saying that 1180 won't be a huge step forward from 1080/Ti because NVIDIA doesn't have a good competition right now?
  5. So my GTX 780 is about to be giving up on me, the fans are making noises and it's overheating after about 4 years of use. I've gotten it in early 2014 and it's been a good run so far. But I think the time's come and last night without even any gaming, the screen shuts off and I see the both fans stopped working (first it used to be one fan that stopped now both of them) so I shut down my PC and go to bed. This morning, they won't work again so I'd take it out and clean it up a bit, though, it's cleaned so there's not much to do there. The fans do seem to be messed up from the inside or something, they're not buttery smooth to push and spin like they used to. So I've made my mind to upgrade anyway, my usage of my PC is to 3D Model and Digitally Sculpt as well as gaming. Should I go for GTX 1080Ti at the price point of 1.1k USD? (in our market here) or should I wait for a GTX 1180 that's rumored to be releasing next month? Would appreciate your opinions/help on it!
  6. IPS with a high refresh rate is damn expensive. Plus, since I already own a Dell S2240L, I'm thinking I'll just use that one for my 3D Work? But, would you suggest that as mainly a 3D Artist, I should instead spend the money I was willing to spend on a gaming monitor for something better? Is there something that could get better than what I have (S2240L) to help me with content creation? Or just use it for 3D and get a gaming one to have best of both worlds? (Something like a Dell Ultrasharp 24 or 27 inches)
  7. Hello, So as the title suggests, I'm looking to buy a new monitor in the coming two months. With upgrading my GPU as well. I'll be first waiting for next gen GPU from Nvidia, (GTX 1180/Ti) then I'll also be wanting to purchase a monitor for my gaming + rendering needs. I mainly am studying 3D Modeling/Digital Sculpting but I also keep up with gaming, my main game right now would be Rainbow Six Siege and I do get competitive when I play the multiplayer which is why I thought about upgrading to a better monitor with higher refresh rate when I get my GPU. I also buy latest AAA titles when I find them interesting Currently the monitor I'm using is a Dell S2240L 60Hz 1080p IPS display. With the budget I'm going for, I found these two monitors interesting : Acer Predator XB241H bmipr with G-Sync and Benq Zowie XL2546 (I'd get XL2540 since there's not much difference and I still don't understand DyAc well but interestingly enough, I found XL2546 to be cheaper here) Now, what I want to know, is it worth trading off the extra refresh rate for G-Sync? I've never played on a higher refresh rate OR on a monitor with G-Sync. So you guys tell me what are the pros and cons, if there are any? Thank you!
  8. So I'm torn b/w which one to get. I've not had any experience with a Gaming Mechanical keyboard before. I've been using Razer DeathStalker Essential which has Chiclet keys. (It was a birthday gift) But now I want to switch to the mechanical keyboard. I initially thought about K70 LUX RGB but now I'm thinking a K95 Plat RGB would be a better choice because I found it to be a bit cheaper than K70 LUX RGB... And it has those Macro keys on the side as an addition. So I thought about going with Brown, but brown is not only expensive, I don't know if it's worth it. I wanted that little tactile feeling we get from pressing the keys while we type or anything and I heard it's good for gaming too, so I thought it'd be an all rounder. But I'd have to import it and that'd cost a lot, about 40$ more than Speed switches. So I guess the question is, What would you prefer? And why? Would you pay about 40$ more for the brown?
  9. Yes, I can at least game now if not work for quite some time as it'll take to get my replacement! Hopefully in future, I could acquire the knowledge to go with custom loops like you guys.
  10. Yes, I'm glad too! Processor being faulty is a much bigger concern than the cooler being faulty. So I'm glad it's just my cooler. Though it wasn't found with the stock cooler I brought in before, but it worked this time with the new one. Thanks, mate! You guys helped a lot.
  11. Great news! I figured it out for sure that it's my cooler that's failing. I got myself another Intel stock cooler after I asked this dude at the computer shop to give me the one from this brand new box of processor. With this stock cooler + pre-applied paste to it, my idle temps gone down to 33 - 35 degrees. This stayed below 75 for the most part when I was playing PUBG today. Mostly around 68-69 degrees. Also, I got to check my GTX H100i on my friend's PC and his processor was going above 40-50 too. And about 95 degrees with stress test. So I'll get my cooler replaced now! So thank you everyone for trying to help me out here! Especially @For Science!
  12. @For Science! What you said about voltage thing, I was just watching this video yesterday, seems as though there's some issues with ROG STRIX motherboards. However the guy says that the board mainly undervolts the CPU than the set limit.
  13. I have emailed Corsair, so far, they're ready to replace my unit without asking further questions, just have to wait to know where I'm supposed to ship the product for RMA. I just want to know if it's actually my Cooler's fault so that I'll be in peace knowing the new product's going to help me. Let's say it's my board as you say it is, what would that mean for my previous 4770K going above 80? That processor didn't hit 100 but I didn't stress test with Prime95 or RealBench that time anyway, I used to use Intel Extreme Tuning Utility. It easily went above 80 degrees though. But 8700K is known to run hotter than usual chips. And as for the pipes, one just never heats up, at all. The other one does and gets very warm. I think I'll just have to RMA it and see
  14. @Damascus @For Science! @Radium_Angel So this talk about ambient temp reminded me that I came here during Winter and then the Summer came up as well and in summertime, it gets as high as 55 Degrees in here and not having any AC in this room, I also didn't pay any attention to the temperatures at that moment, nor did I change my thermal grease for long long time. Could it be that it damaged my cooler/CPU? if it did damage my CPU, that must not be an issue with my now recent 8700K so maybe the cooler's faulty because of that? EDIT : Noticing another thing, that when I touch both the pipes of my cooler, one of them is warm while the other one is cool. Is that normal? By warm, I mean real warm. While the other one's not at all warm, not one bit, it's normal room's temp.
  15. Temperature here in my city at the moment is 23 Degrees Celsius so about 73 Degrees Fahrenheit. My room's cold enough now that the winter's on the way, it drops down to 19 and lower after 12 AM.
  16. After putting my GTX H100i back on, today. The lowest is about 37 degrees on idle at 0-1% usage but it keeps spiking up from there, a very slight in change of CPU usage and it keeps going up to 60 degrees, and mostly keeping in b/w 45-55 or so. Under any sort of stress test it shoots up to 100 degrees.
  17. How'd I know that without taking any chances of destroying my PC if I keep it running with my processor on/above 100 Degrees? Not only that, my last i7 4770 had heating issues as well. The main reason I changed everything just the night before making this thread.
  18. If any of the information from HWMonitor helps. Just putting it out there, I'm back to using my GTX H100i for now.
  19. @For Science! @Radium_Angel So I've checked with a new Intel Stock Cooler and my friend's (Who's using stock cooler of 6th Gen i5), with Arctic Silver 5 applied, both are giving the same results. Idle : 40-60 on 20% load (spiking) Stress test : 100 Degrees in a few seconds PUBG : As shown in the picture. Around 90 This is so frustrating, I don't know what's happening any more. The max now I could try is to use my liquid cooler on his PC.... It feels like the 1200$ I spent on upgrading just went to waste, god.
  20. Hmm, I've ordered the original Intel's LGA1151 Stock Heatsink. It should be there tomorrow by noon, I'll go get it and just check from that one instead. I'll update the thread once done.
  21. I have gotten an Intel stock heatsink for 1151-1155 but the pins are loose and when I tried to install it last night, the top left one got into the hole in the motherboard but remaining 3 just didn't get in like the first one, they were kinda half in, and the heatsink seemed to be intact too when I tried to move it with hand, it wouldn't but I don't know if that's good enough?
  22. I'm at this computer store right now and I can get one LGA775 cooler but the surface area on the bottom is small, do you think it could work?
  23. @For Science! I wanted to ask one thing, it might take my friend one day to come back, he's out of town and so if I'm using my PC and the idle temps are going around 55-65 all the time, should I use my PC less so that it doesn't damage my CPU or is there no worry if I did use it? I'm not stressing it for anything, I'm not playing games. But just wondered since I don't want to damage anything for not being careful. Edit : Mostly it's about 49-60
  24. Great! I'll do that. I'll update the thread tomorrow when I check it out. I'd like to say thank you for taking your time and interest in this thread to try and help me out. I really appreciate it. Have a nice day ahead.
  25. Alright, I have called my friend today and I'll be testing the temperature with his stock Intel heatsink that he's using (He has a 6th Gen i5) I suppose it'd work since the socket's LGA1151. Surprisingly, his processor runs at 35 degrees and about 75 degrees on load (I changed his thermal paste too, with Arctic Sliver 5 a week ago) If the temps are improved then I guess we know what's the culprit here. But the important question is : The stock heatsink of Intel that I'm gonna use, is it enough to keep it cool under 80 on stress test so that I know it's my cooler's problem? Or do I have to go with idle temps?
