since you didn't mention price just portable, then go full crazy get the LEICA m-9e and just go for some summilux lens. as long as you have over $10000 USD you'll be fine

The Pentax K-50 offers great features at a fantastic price. If you grab it with the Pentax 100mm f2.8 macro wr then it would produce 1:1 magnification at 30cm from the subject.

EDIT: One feature you'll also enjoy that isn't offered on most entry level cameras is focus peaking. It'll help if you're be doing any macro tripod work.

Good composition, interesting subject. It's got some slight motion blur so would probably recommend increasing your shutter speed, and I'm wondering if a little more post processing might give it more life (perhaps a lightroom radial filter to drop the exposure around the bird slightly, so the eye is drawn towards it first). 9/10, commendable effort!

Damn man, you've been posting some top quality stuff! Love the post processing and composition. The only fault I can see, and it's fairly minor, is that I would've like to see the apex of the arch and the middle of the window to be in line. Thumbs up mate! 9/10

Get the HD 600 and a proper amp/DAC combo, like the O2/ODAC.

Note, I'm grading on the aspect of scenery and not so much on the technicalities of the image.
    8.5/10
Yes, it is a little grainy, although there is nothing you could probably do about it given your camera. Although, it does seem that you moved ever so slightly while taking the picture, either that, or the clouds moved. How long was the exposure?
The 'feel' of the picture definitely is eery, I think the 'feel' and ambiance of the moment was caught well. Almost seems like something from a horror movie.

    And here is my picture:

EEK! Its a flea for those of you wondering. Taken through an Nikon optical microscope adapted to my Micro 4/3 Lumix camera.
If I remember correctly, this was 100x magnification
The image is my opinion is a little grainy and probably ever so slightly out of focus. Probably due to the restrictions of my Micro 4/3 camera. I also probably could have increased the backlight of the microscope a little higher.

Here is what the setup basically looks like for those who are curious:

Maybe if I get the time, I can get some 1000x oil immersion objective shots of virus and/or bacteria colonies.

If you're still making up your mind, I vote for the gh4. We are extremely pleased with ours and while the fs700 rig can shoot nicer, more easily manipulated, and more cinematic looking footage, the size of a larger camera is often impractical and the benefit of higher framerate shooting can be canceled out by poor control of the camera unless you're using a big tripod with a great head on it.
    Just some random thoughts.
If the gh4 had existed 2 years ago I would likely own a couple of those instead of a single fs700.

It's my understanding that 4K downsampled to 1080p has better quality than a native 1080p capture. I assume the same way super sampling anti aliasing works. There's merit to getting a 4K capable camera for the quality boost to 1080p video.

As to the topic on hand, I'd probably just get the GH4 unless you can claim the FS7 as a business expense on tax. I remember you're a fairly popular youtuber, so I'd go for whatever would have the greater return on your investment.

There's merits to having a 60fps stream for gaming, but I haven't really seen it for anything else on youtube. If you had lots of fast movement in your scenes then maybe. Honestly I think it's an either/or option, since it generally doesn't affect the audience too much.

I'd probably go 4K on the GH4 and downsample to 1080p if your main objective is "oooo pretty!" or go for native 1080p60 if you have to capture movement in a scene.

I have a 12TB NAS so that should do it for a while. (Acutally 24TB but 12TB because I run 4 WD Red 6 TB in raid 1) But I am planning on bulding a new NAS that will house 10 6TB WD Reds in Raid 10 for 30 TB extra storage.
As for the headphones I do have a bunch of headphones.

I think the UI on the X100S is pretty good, but all interfaces have their quirks. The only thing important to me is that the most used functions are easy to access so I don't miss shots, and in that regard I've never had a problem with the X100S.

I've never had a chance to use an A7 but I've only heard good things about them. One of my favourite photographers, Serge Ramelli, uses and swears by them and his portfolio reflects their capability. My only quibble with it is that much of the appeal of mirrorless is the lightweightness, which unfortunately is lost when using FF lenses (damn they can get heavy) on the A7. Hard to fault the A7 range otherwise if they compliment your style of photography (landscapes/portraits/travel/maybe street).

Hmmm... I'd probably recommend a backpack for your needs. I'm currently using a Lowepro Rover AW II http://www.amazon.com/Lowepro-Rover-AW-II-Grey/dp/B0001MIIHO and it's pretty great. It'll fit everything you mentioned and also anything around the size of a 70-200mm f2.8. You could also go for something in Lowepro's current range http://store.lowepro.com/rover-pro-45l-aw if you want something that can fit a larger lens.

If you're unhappy with those have a look at other hiking camera backpacks and you may find something more to your liking

Sony Alpha a6000; it's stylish, compact & lightweight, and has interchangeable lenses (including a 35mm 1.8). It shoots raw and has "the world's fastest auto focusing system". It also shoots 11 frames per second.

You don't need an amp if it's getting loud with one set of media and not with another. There's obviously something else at play here. Have you checked all windows sound settings and disabled all enhancements? Have you tried turning on "Loudness Equalization" under the enhancements tab?

With my 650's AND an amp, I need to have that enabled when playing Skyrim because of software weirdness. You could easily be experiencing the same thing with other games.
