  1. This is what each of those firmware did for my desktop motherboard... 1. Improve GPU compatibility for GeForce RTX 40 series. (upgraded to 40 series, might not have needed it but it was nice to have before I had to find out I did.) AGESA Combo V2 PI 1.2.0.8 (addressing a 2 security vulnerabilities in relation to my CPU) AGESA Combo V2 PI 1.2.0.B ("INCEPTION") Patch UEFI LogoFail vulnerabilities. NVD - CVE-2023-40238 (nist.gov) I know I don't need to, but I like keeping my devices updated.
  2. I bought a framework in 2022, impulsively upgraded to the 12th gen board. While they have released 2x beta releases they have yet to release a full update. The only "official" bios is the launch firmware, it's nearly been 2 years. I know I'm not the typical consumer, I bookmark firmware pages and check them regularly. My motherboard from 2019 had a firmware update as recently as last month. The fact that my laptop has only had 2 beta firmwares in the span of time my motherboard had 2x betas and 4 full releases is such a bummer. I'm starting to keep a look out for my next device, Which manufacturer is the most diligent with keeping their firmware updated?
  3. Literally doing the same thing, I wanted a separate device because I get notification fatigue and swipe away before I read everything. I was planning on using an old laptop I have that is missing the display (long dumb story) and a usb-c touchscreen monitor to set something up with I'm thinking MagicMirror²? not finalized yet.
  4. I'm planning to revamp our audio setup, currently use a modmic on my headphones and my wife has a headset. We're limited on space so a typical mic arm isn't going to fit with out desks. I had the idea of mounting them just under our monitors since we already talk while facing them. Does anything like this pre-exist or will I need to be making custom parts?
  5. With hardware that old, maybe Debian is a good option for you.
  6. I'd recommend pop if on newer hardware, since System76 sells desktops and laptops their inclined to work harder for new hardware. Otherwise anything Ubuntu based is best for beginners because anything you search help wise for Ubuntu typically still applies and makes finding solutions to any issues easier.
  7. I bought windows 7 OEM with my first PC build, since then, Microsoft has been offering free upgrades. They've let me keep activating it with any re-install. Quick edit I'm on 11 with the same key today. Though I also run linux and have been slowly spending more time there because of my job.
  8. Thermal Compound: Arctic Silver 5, I'd say go for better thermal paste, I'd recommend thermal grizzly I disagree and think you'll be fine with a U12S if blender supports cuda, then I disagree with them recommending AMD cards. I workfor a linux SI and we sell a lot of nvidia because they prefer CUDA.
  9. Doesn't seem like you're forgetting anything.
  10. 23.95 €, that is a dirt cheap PSU, alongside the fake 85Plus rating Spotty pointed out, there is a good chance that that it isn't even 550W This usually isn't a sign of over heating, you'd first start lagging while getting thermal throttle, then your PC would just shut off if it wasn't cooling down. The fact that it's still on sounds like your GPU wasn't getting enough power to me. Now the high temp could be from a weird temp monitor, or just a poorly mounted cooler that you just never realized. I'd recommend investing is a better PSU, 650W+ The PSU isn't a part to cheap out on since it's the life blood of your PC, and good ones aren't that expensive in comparison to other parts. Re-seating your CPU cooler if you're comfortable with that.
  11. Honestly you'd save money buying a used 4790k and end up with similar performance. You'd have to get new RAM as well z97 was the last to be DDR3, you'd have to upgrade to DDR4 ram as well with the 9400f
  12. yeah it is. It should, though you could grab a "Last Call" magni 3 if you're really worried about power output for cheaper
  13. are you on 1080 or 1440? Honestly, this seems about right, if anything it isn't that much lower than benchmarks but that's to be expected in multiplayer.
  14. No, also those are integrated, it wouldn't be an "Upgrade" as it's part of the CPU die, the HD is from Kaby Lake, UHD is Kaby Lake-Refresh. at most you're looking at a 1-2fps improvement.
  15. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vCdWtp here is one with a lower target price, That looks perfectly fine to me if you can afford that. between my 3 links if you can mix and match some stuff to afford it it you should be good.
