  1. I think I need some build changes, But I'm unsure what. Maybe a color change? Case swap? Loop route change?
  2. Been a while since I've been on the forums due to commitments, Just over 12months ago I switched up the build for a 4790k @ 4.8ghz MSI Z97 Gaming7 XSPC acrylic res D5 Laing pump. Took this just before for you
  3. Anyone know what the safe volt limit is for a 4790k? 5.0ghz is causing me grief, I can't finish an hour of prime95 @ 1.4v & I don't want to really push it any higher. Not much info online yet unfortunately, Hopefully can nail something else down. Looking at all the other features in the bios & volt adjustments right now.
  4. Another vote for the MSI Z97 Gaming 7, It's just gotten me to 5ghz on my 4790k.
  5. Just went from a Z77 Mobo & i7 3770k to a Z97 to i7 4790k Only things I did was uninstall all all previous motherboard drivers from device manager, Then install all the new ones when I booted with the new gear. I also had to validate my Windows 8.1 again. Cheers Mat
  6. Single core performance with 4.7ghz is 188cb. To me it means nothing as CB is not something I am familiar with. The 5ghz benches will start once I finish work for the day. It's 10:12am, I knock off at 3pm today, Cheers Mat
  7. I think you guys are right! No idea why my CPU-Z Validation doesn't show my voltage. Was a mere 1.36v http://valid.x86.fr/trgv7p Looks like I've either hit silicon lottery right away or the retail are better than the ES? Cheers
  8. So far, I idle at 24c on hottest core @ 19c ambient & Most I've topped it out from 2hours prime95 is 59c on a custom loop. I'll update you with full temps in my build thread for this rig tomorrow. Currently 1:28am and I'm just about to turn some stress tests on until 7am and get some sleep. Night p.s- Just hit 952cb after updating motherboard bios... whoops lol
  9. You'll be needing more than 2 cards if you'd like to enter the realm of 4k gaming. I have a 4.8ghz 3770k, 16gb 2400mhz ddr3, Crossfire 290x @ 1100c/1500m clocks & it's about smack on for 2560x1440 There's a video with 2x 295x2's so basically 4x 290x & 4k gaming. Maxed out, Most games were 40-60fps from memory.
  10. $80including postage. But I got quite a bit & the pin tool. http://en.mdpc-x.com/ Cheers Mathew
  11. You obviously have not read the thread. I'd suggest you have a look over page 2 & 3. Cheers Mat
  12. Just hit 9405 Firestrike Extreme http://www.3dmark.com/fs/1352648 Aiming for 10,000 by the end of the weekend
  13. Thanks all, I like the look of no bridges. I hated seeing the bridges on my 6970 Xfire setup. However, What is currently bugging me is that the edges of the 290x PCB is obviously that raw pcb color, That yellowy browny gold'ish color. I was wondering if it'd be safe to use a sharpy on the edges of the pcb to black that out? I'm most likely going to be upgrading to the Fractal Newton R3 1000w PSU My only concern is, It comes with hardwired cables for 2x SLI/Xfire. I've never sleeved a PSU before, I'm currently running Bitfenix PSU extension wiring for the red/black effect I have going. It'd be fairly amazing I think. EDIT: Just committed & ordered some MDPC Sleeving. 1x White - Small 2x Black - Small 1x Red - Small 2x 50pack Small Heatshrink 1x Pin Removal Tool Will wait for that to arrive in January and then pickup the new PSU and sleeve this beauty. Going to attempt to tackle this style Cheers Mathew
  14. My first card had BAD coil whine, After a month it's completely gone. Just put in my second card for XFire & the coil whine is as bad as the first one was. Now I wait. But it does tend to go away after some use most of the time. Cheers Mat
