I would go with the 3700x and encode on the cpu vs the GPU, you are going to take a FPS hit by encoding on the GPU and playing FPS games frames are key.

I've heard it's incredibly ineficient to do this as the new gpu encoding tech nvidia has in their new cards is really good.
Do you have some more information about this?

  2. Greetings LTT!
    I'm trying to decide between a Ryzen 5 3600X or saving up for a Ryzen 7 3700X.
3700X has 2 more cores, 4 more threads and a lower base clock but they both boost to the same 4.4 GHz.

I plan to stream together with a 2070 Super and use the gpu for encoding,
I mainly play fps games but i like to listen to music and would like to keep some firefox tabs/windows open at the same time, and ofc have OBS running...

I'm not sure if i would use all the 8 cores if i get a 3700X so would a 3600X be enough?
I do plan to slap on a better cooler for it at a later time to make it quieter and hopefully be able to have a more stable boost clock.

    Thanks in forehand!

  3. Hi LTT friends! I've been saving up buy a new gaming-pc but I haven't been observing the case market lately so I'm a bit unsure of which case would be right for me. Here's a list of things that i need/value:

    • Silence!
    • 2 HDD slots
    • 2 SSD slots
    • Price (The Lower the better)
    • Allow for ATX Card

    Thank you for your suggestions!

Well the clean install of windows should have eliminated any driver issues.

You could try running a linux USB to see what happens without windows. Can easily install steam and run dota 2 or CS:GO under ubuntu.

If something happened to the power supply that might explain something. You could try limiting the power on the GPU, does it only crash under load or does it crash randomly at any time?

It seems to crash quite randomly, From what i noticed, the more Firefox tabs i have open,
The riskier it is. I actually crashed again just now with the same error code.

    What power supply?

If your PC works perfectly fine with the 1060, but not the RX 5700, then you may have a defective RX 5700, most likely the memory on it.

You can try lowering the memory clock speed or just power limiting the card to see what that does.

Also is your motherboard bios up to date?

    Added System specs.
I had the same issues persist even though i switched back to the 1060 3g card

and removed AMD drivers and added Nvidia drivers.

  6. Hello people!
I come to you again for my tech advice, issues and suggestions.

I have recently bought myself a 5700 XT EVOC from MSI
After installing it i have started having weird crashes that i can't explain or figure out.

After a while i started noticing that my system was becoming incredibly slow, stuttery.
Video, Audio and input would lagg. Clicking the windows button would take a second and a half to respond which usually
reacts instantly. I'm running a Rysen 5 1600X, It's not like i have an old pc.

Here's a list of some of the things i have tried.

    • Ran Memcheck for 3 hours and my ram sticks reported no errors.
    • Tried old GPU (1060 3gb) with Nvidia drivers (Removed all AMD drivers)
    • Tried new GPU with AMD Drivers (Removed all Nvidia drivers)
    • Can't see any physical irregularities on MB
    • Re-installed Windows without saving files (This solved the stutter issues but after about 16 hours of using the pc and gaming i now crashed again)

    Some system specs:

PSU: Bequiet! Straight Power 10 500W

    CPU: Ryzen 1600X

    MoBo: MSI B250 Bazooka

RAM: 16gb from Corsair i think.

    Windows 10 Latest updates.

I have posted pictures of all the weird Stopcodes below.
I get improved FPS in games compared to the old GPU but Is this all due to AMD drivers being...shit?

Thanks for any and all advice! ❤️

Going below is not reccomended is not recommended, but it could work. Do you have the computer right now? You could test it with some stress tests on the gpu and cpu and possibly ram and see if those 500 watts are enough. Just for future upgrades it might become an issue.

I do have it. Do you have any suggestions on how to stres-test it and see? I've been gaming on it for over a year.

500w could be fine, depends if it's a rubbish power supply or not. What exact power supply do you have?

  8. Hello!

I have a 500w modular psu from bequiet! and i want to buy a new gpu going from a GTX 1060 to a MSI Radeon RX 5700XT Evoke OC

    • I'm running 3 fans

    • Ryzen 5 1600X - 95 watts According to AMD's website

    • x2 8gb ram sticks around 2667MHz hz i think.

    • 1 ssd, 1hdd

    • DAC & Mic

    • Mouse & Keyboard

    • 2 Monitors

My worry is the new gpu pulls up to 225 W according to the site im bying it from

But the recommended watt they suggest the computer to have is 750W.
    Will i be alright?

I also plan on adding a 1TB M.2 SSD and possible a Oculus Rift S later.
    Will this work too?

    Thanks in forehand! ❤️

    I don't personally have the Rift S.

However, I read reviews extensively as I wanted to buy it. Apparently it's a little better, but nothing to write home about over original Rift. Especially for over double the money.

Resolution change is noticeable, but it's not up there still.

Screen door effect is smaller / non existant.

The removal of base stations kinda suck in my opinion.

I personally use Pimax 4K as I got that for £106 and Nolo VR for £110. Resolution per eye is 1920x2160 vs 1080x1200 (Original Rift) or 1280x1440 (Rift S).

I had original Rift by the way and tracking was excellent with no issues.

My Pimax struggles sometimes but I'll rather have to deal with some minor issues than the resolution on Rift. Pimax 4K is incredibly sharp.

Rift S had some issues with tracking, screen tuning off in the middle of play where you have to restart PC etc to get it working again.

If you want to play it safe, and don't want to deal with hassle of tech testing the new Rift S, go with the older one. It works brill, it's just the resolution is kinda meh but if you'll be using it for the 1st time you'll like it.

I actually had one before for about a week but I ended up returning it. How'd you get a Pimax 4k for so cheap? Aren't those usually really expensive? :)

  10. A buddy recently said he'd sell me his used Oculus Rift for 200 euros after I mentioned I wanted to buy the new rift S for 500.

My question is, how much better is the Rift S compared to the Rift? What kind of difference is there besides needing tracking stations. Ups? Downs? What would you do and why? Thanks!

they should come very soon... asrock showed off a design already, and msi has some rumors as well, but no renders yet

both are dual fan, factory overclocked cards

Soon soon...Asrock's cooler looked pretty cheap ?
Maybe a month or so away?

I guess it's hard to know if they haven't said anything.

Sounds alright. Are all of your drives and add-in cards connected?

She spinnin now :) all Good.

  13. Hello, i was switching some parts around, Psu and hdd/sdd in my computer and when i try to boot now it

beeps and shuts down after half a sec. Then repeats.

I tried unplugging the 24 pin and leave the 12 pin inside, then the computer doesnt beep or turn off but obviously does not work other than the Lights coming on.

Any Idea what the issue is? I checked the 24 and 12 pins to the mobo...

    Thanks in forehand!

When you move the lever, is the cpu socket sliding as well? If not that is the reason why the cpu won't budge... It is still in the tight grip of the socket.

Then you need to find where the socket slides, and try to push it carefully to move and set free the cpu.

I can feel it move slightly back and forth when i push and pull the lever without locking it

  15. Hello. As the titel says. Im trying to taken out a 1600x from a gigabyte A320M-DS2

But it simply wont come off.

I put my nail in under it at one place but my nail will literally break before it comes off.

Any Idea what the shit could cause this?

I used no Force when i put it in. Simply lined the edge up, it fell in and then lowered the lock.
Let me know if more pictures are needed.
    Thanks in forehand...
