  1. Splitting hairs here...both cards running the same game will look exactly the same...
  2. Between 1440p and VR i've seen multiple times my VRAM usage being over 10GB on my 1080ti and going forward 10GB on a card as powerful as the RTX 3080 is certainly a concern for me personally. Nvidia knew AMD had an ace down the sleeve...that's the way they found to cut on cost without cutting on profit margin.
  3. Yes and mostly what model exactly it was...because it has to be 6 years old if you built your machine in 2014...so unless it's a G2 or a p2 unit I would probably not gamble on it...
  4. What is it with people and that game? How do you know if it's even gonna be worth playing? For what we know the gameplay could be bad, story could be boring , performance and optimization can be shit, it could riddled with big and issues...it could be short, it could be boring....plenty of things I can think of why you wouldn't build a PC for game that may end up not even to be a good game...
  5. i would clean it, and sell it on market place and start a new build from scratch honestly. Cause here, in green the parts you COULD keep...and what you must replace: CPU: Intel Core i5 4690K 3.5GHz Motherboard: MSI Z97 GAMING 5 RAM: Kingston Fury Red Series (4 x 4GB) 16GB 1866Mhz GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 780 3GB Twin Frozr Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro Storage: SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB, HHD: Western Digital 1TB PSU: EVGA 750W Cooling: Standard heatsink
  6. Ohhh god no and thanks for that...they consume way too much power they would be aweful. Maybe down in the rtx 3050/60 range...
  7. im playing it on a 1080ti at 1440p i use the hardware unboxed suggested settings and i get anywhere from 70 to 110FPS so i'm a happy camper. you probably have some super demanding settings turned on mate cause honestly the game still run quite well.
  8. pretty sure it would solve your issues, are you in a position where you could do that? Why isn't your card already in the performance slot? Also why 1080p? monitor your GPU load and see if your card is even flexin or not...
  9. Have you looked how beautiful it is tho...it's not trash optimization it's just the most advanced best looking open world modern game there is...it's huge and gorgeous...and demanding.
  10. Well for 3 to 12$ you can find used 8800gt on eBay and this is most likely the real best bang for your buck but I doubt it's what you want//need you would have to be more specific on screen resolution, games you plan to play etc...basically performance.level you're expecting...
  11. I'll go contrary to everyone else and say that ray tracing is ultimately done through an interface known as Microsoft DirectX raytracing (DXR) thereforeit should and will work on every GPU...the only problem is performance...no?
  12. Ohh sry you said standalone...then yes the image quality of the device when it's running native resolution content is better than rift s..but then it's the game quality that suffer cause then you're doing mobile stuff....but for movies it must be pretty good.
  13. Apparently no it won't...I've researched a bit and the bitrate of the link isn't good enough...I was told that this headset will never be able to run at 90hz and native resolution over link so I abandoned the idea and decided to stick to my rift a unfortunately...and from what I've read it's pretty bad too it's like a low quality streaming thing to the headset...
  14. i had 4770K 4.3ghz with 980ti at 1440p and it played well in games BACK THEN i then i upgraded to a 1080ti later on and it proved to be too much for the CPU in many open world games...so a 3080 is absolutely out of range for this CPU in CPU intensive (modern demanding beautiful) games. I would get the new ryzen processors when they come out and by then good GPU's should be available. So basically...save some money and hold on for basically a new computer..
  15. It's always the same thing everytime the cards are hard to find for like 3 months...this time it'll be 4 because of covid.
  16. Get a new 1440p monitor with variable refresh rate that way you don't have to worry about hitting 144fps ever again.
  17. 1660ti? 1660ti is extremely weak even compared to 1080ti...
  18. then i would wait to try the card on your current monitor and see if you miss having Gsync that much....maybe AMD has some tech in there that still makes it smooth on a constant 165hz monitor? maybe... Otherwise...no no no...okay...i would try to upgrade(or trade) to 3440x1440 100hz+ Freesync...that's what i would do personally. EDIT: I would consider any and every monitor in this list: https://pcpartpicker.com/products/monitor/#r=344001440&P=6,2,7,3,5,4&A=2,4,3&D=100000,280000&sort=price&page=1 EDIT 2: This one would be SICK https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=38035&AID=13242841&PID=3938566&ref=cj&utm_source=cj&utm_medium=13242841&utm_term=PCPartPicker%2C+LLC-2993279&cjevent=a0159565084c11eb80ea00440a24060f
  19. since when is a 2070 super worth double a 5700XT? have i been out of the loop this long?!
  20. You find find these cards everywhere 2nd hand for very low price these days.

When reviewers test the power consumption of RT…

Always tought the same...not sure why.
  22. you are willing to spend 400ish $ on a new monitor to save maybe 100$ on an AMD card?! Man...just spend a bit more on your GPU instead and get like a 1080ti...or a 2070 super...
  23. Have you installed the drivers? When you right-click on your desktop do you see Nvidia control panel in your list?
