FriedZombie's Achievements

  1. Right now I just have internal graphics since I sold my SLi 780s but I found a barely used Titan X for $800 so I think i'll have more than enough horsepower for 1440p 144Hz gaming when June 4th rolls around
  2. I probably would just stick with a single GTX 980 if your budget is $500 and you already have a G-Sync monitor (i'm stuck in Team Green's camp for a while since I have a ROG Swift)
  3. I did too, I guess in the mean time I can scrub through the show to see what exactly he's referring to.
  4. I'm very much aware of that but if you looked at my post or read some recent articles then you would know that specs and benchmarks have all but been 100% leaked and that the launch for this card is any day between now and Computex on June 2nd. It's still possible I could eat my words in a few days but i'd be willing to bet on it.
  5. I've signed game NDA's before and I didn't see anything about telling someone if you've received a product or not.
  6. I've heard about reviewers getting 980tis recently and was curious if the Linus dynasty has received one and if you guys are in the process of filming the review. If anything I really wish that Jen-Hsun Huang would hurry up and give the green light to release these beasts even if they're in fact slightly cut down Titan Xs (as they should be tbh given the price point)
  7. I have to tell you, I have never been more excited about a product then I was with the ROG Swift; for the first time I could still keep the 1440p resolution I've grown accustomed to on cheap Korean IPS panels with now good color reproduction 1Ms response time and 144Hz refresh? Yes please. Demand for this product was so insane that I was waited a total of 51 days for my shipment to finally leave the warehouse, add another 5 days later for shipping and there it was in a relatively tiny box with a nice carrying handle. Proceed to open the box fervently and throw the hard Styrofoam out of the box and finally take out the main attraction and take off the plastic cover. This monitor when it comes to aesthetics has got something going for it, a high quality plastic polymer is used that is apparently the same material they use to make new Boeing 747s with Nice! Plug in the monitor and I see an amber light lite up that after googling is the light that means no signal/stand by ok pretty self explanatory. Hook it up and the color turns white and that's it. No backlight at all. Heard SLi G-Sync issues? Disable my other GTX 780, nothing. Heard driver issues? Re-install Windows after a backup and then install fresh 344.75 drivers; nothing. Force the monitor to run at a lower refresh rate by going into Safe mode? Ok and still nothing. This thing is determined to run in paper weight mode no matter what I try. I do notice a red LED illuminate inside the panel when I hook up the DP connector and wonder if that's the equivalent of an RROD, so far I haven't been able to find about any error codes nor did the ASUS Customer Service Agent know what error codes are for this monitor either. Is it pointless to even try and solve this problem? I really don't want to hop on the RMA bandwagon.
  8. Also kind of a dumb question, but i'm not getting any image period on my brand new ROG Swift. I do have an SLi setup so I thought that maybe I could be using the wrong DP input, but my previous 1440p monitor was and still is working just fine using DP....I've only been able to mess with it for about 20 minutes during my lunch break (yeah I drove home to hook this bad boy up during my lunch break, yes I have no life) but I noticed a red and green LEDs on the PCB through the vents on top with the red LED being a steady red and a green light blinking on when I try to power cycle the monitor; are there any know error codes that can be determined via this method? or should I not even bother and RMA the sucker.
  9. Aww hell yeah! I would definitely build my first X99 based build if I got this badboy! then my gf could actually game with me and/or not pout when she has to play vanilla Skyrim on the consoles. Also I already mine BTC so bring on the cores baby
  10. Aww that definitely blows, I would love for this to be my side project as I was debating about making the leap from air cooled to getting some EK waterblocks and reservoir for my first liquid cooled build. This would cost about the same and honestly look a lot damn cooler with even more bragging rights when completed, sign me up for the full ATX model but I would definitely work with mini-ITX if need be.
  11. Logitech Z-5500; for some damn reason Logitech stopped making them, but I lucked out and got it for $130 back in '08. The only thing that's happened so far is the back light for the volume controller burnt out but everything works flawlessly otherwise with usage damn near everyday.
  12. Defintiely has to be the accent lighting kit, my windowed Fractal R4 is a little drab and could use a little bit of color
  13. Triple slot cooler and the those pulsing LEDs would be pretty sweet for any window cases. My non window Fractal R4 would probably wouldn't be the best fit for it
  14. This has also weighed on my mind as i'm sick of the standby problems of my corner cutting HP ZR2740wv2 1440p monitor that I got for dirt cheap. I have two 6GB 780s in my rig so I wonder if it's easier to get 120Hz at 1440p or 60Hz at 4k....Also I've never used a 120 or 144hz refresh monitor before and wonder if it really is as good as people are making it out to be.
  15. The honor of introducing me to LTT would be my friend Chris in 2012 who has been a long time fan even since your crappy unboxings at NCIX; your videos also helped me brave the world of custom building because I couldn't stand my loud ass Alienware Area 51 with its crappy sleeve bearing fans. Now I have a Fractal R4 that's as silent as a kitten purring. Every time someone asks me how to seat a processor on a motherboard or how to apply thermal paste or how to install a graphics card; I always refer them to LTT content. Also I'm really liking the TechQuickie stuff almost anyone could learn a few things by watching those videos.
