My advice on gaming chairs is generally not to buy them. An office chair will normally get you more for your money and is actually designed for comfort over long periods of sitting and not for looks. 
 
Best way is to go to a store will a selection of office chairs, sit in them and find one that you find comfortable. 

If the 1080 costs only 40$ more than the 1070 it doesnt even matter if it's overkill or not imo. Just get the 1080 in such a case because the 1070 ir clearly overpriced then and you will have a gpu for a longer time 

you could probably get alexa to just use wake on lan and get alexa to send a magic packet 

I'm not at all familiar with the item you are talking about, but I do know there is a setting in bios to turn on when it detects power(or if it loses power then finds it again), I have this on my server machines and it works well.

Maybe a bios setting called "Power on after AC loss"

Sell that card as fast as possible. You will make more money doing that. RX 580s are going for $500 plus on eBay right now. Sell it and get yourself a 1080.

If you can find any in stock, get the RX5808GB, then sell it for $400-$450 and buy a GTX 1070.

Personally, I would opt to get the Zenbook unless you really prefer OSX. You may have programmes as part of your degree that are designed to only run on windows and whilst you could use the university computers for them, it's always nice to be able to use them natively on your own laptop so you don't limit yourself. Obviously you can use bootcamp and if your uni is anything like mine they will probably offer you a free windows license that you could use, but really I wouldn't recommend a mac as your only computer unless you were doing content creation etc. I have a MacBook as my only laptop as I do photography as a hobby and at the time there wasn't really any cost benefit to getting another ultrabook over a MacBook and I really like OSX for day to day, plus I had a desktop as backup for anything else I needed windows for.
