I was under the impression that LTT does not simply promote things only for money, they also have to be a decent experience for us...

Hey all, just giving an update on this. We reached out to Volta, had them pull this video segment as it was done without our permission, and we won't be sponsoring with them until their distribution issues have been resolved. They're shipping the product out now in batches, with 3000 more of the chargers arriving at their offices soon. Our contact said everyone should receive their GIGA charger by the end of the month, so we are going to keep an eye on this and how they continue to support their customers ahead of resuming any partnerships with them.

As @CPotter said, Volta was a long term partner of ours, and we just were recently made aware of these issues with distribution and customer support. Thanks so much to @nutzaalex for bringing this to our attention so we could get it taken care of. The trust you guys place in us is super important, so we want to make sure we're dealing with stuff like this as soon as it comes up. Appreciate you all!

    Hey!

Looks like Colton messaged you on your original post so we're going to get it handled there.

    Hey!

Apologies, we didn't see this or the original thread. This video and its use was NOT sanctioned by our team. We've been working with VOLTA since 2017, and haven't seen or heard any issues around their products or delays until recently.

@SeanLMGis messaging them and their founder now, and we'll be pausing any sponsorships with them until they get these issues resolved.

    Hello,

I would like to make a complaint, not sure if this is the best section for it tho...

    Recently this video came out:

In it, the sponsor is Volta.

I am one of the backers from IndieGoGo on the GIGA charger. The reason I got one was that they seem legit and my own chargers were failing me back in September.

Volta's IndieGoGo campaign has been delayed a couple of times, we were supposed to get the chargers in November 2021. However, they have been unwilling to provide a specific timeframe since its inception (I and others wrote to them a couple of times without them getting a reply back to us, this can be checked on the campaign discussion page). They seem more interested in starting new products like the wireless charger instead of finishing the outstanding promised ones!

Why are you promoting them if they have yet to deliver & are behind?

For those who were thinking of getting one, please wait till they are out to backers or get one from somewhere else, rather than risk waiting for one for a long time. If you are in dire need like I was, just get a Baseus charger from aliexpress, they may only be 100-120w but at least they exist and can be shipped to you when you need them.

I agree with the OG author. I trusted Volta because they were on Linus Tech as a sponsor. I have come to trust the Linus team. But the Volta campaign is bad. Every excuse, and still nothing in my hand. They only make updates when the community complains. There was no reason for this to be on Indiegogo, they are not a startup. They used this to collect pre-orders for a product.

I know, my fault, buyer beware, Indiegogo & Kickstarter are not stores, etc. But I took a shortcut and trusted that if Linux Tech had them as a sponsor, then they could be trusted.

I have lost all faith in Volta, and my trust in other sponsored products on Linus Tech has diminished.

Not the end of the world, but sponsors are now less likely to get a purchase from me, without research on my part. Research takes time, and I may decide the product is not worth the time.

for gaming purposes, the 970 evo is often far too expensive. What prices can you find competing NVMe SSDs for, like the Intel 660p, sabrent rocket, HP EX900, Adata SX, etc.

The mortar is a great choice for a Ryzen 5 CPU. It can even handle a decent OC on a Ryzen 7.

The CS650M should be fine for this build.

SSD: Yes, that one is one of the best NVME SSDs right now

CPU: No, not really, I think you should stick to the 3600. Technically the 3600X is better binned which means it should OC better, but the difference is minimal, even less than 100 MHz so you'll never notice that freq increasy in day-to-day use. If you have the money you should buy the 3700X for that matter, at least you get 2 extra cores.

RAM: Yesterday I watched a video from AHOC. "Some noteworthy 4x8, 2x16, 2x8 RAM kits". In that video builzoid says that the best RAM is samsung B die (good samsung B die) because it is excellent in therms of tight timings. I don't know if that kit is B die, I think it is, so in case it is, you should be able to tighten those timings a lot. But I encourage to watch that video as I am not into RAM as much as he is.

AIO: The R5 3600 is a very efficient chip so I think a good 120mm AIO should do the trick, 3rd ryzen doesn't have huge OC magins anyway.

MOBO: Yes, B450M mortar max is a solid motherboard for the price. Again a 3600 doesn't draw tons of power so you don't need a super fancy VRM to run that

PSU: It's an OKeish PSU, at least it has DC-DC. But if you are worrying so much for the rest of the components, you should get yourself a good PSU too. I've seen PSUs like bitfenix whisper M or formula, corsair RMx or be quiet straight power 11 going for less than 100 eur so spending money on a new PSU doesn't hurt that much.
