I hear a lot of talk about how AMD GPU's use a lot of power. So I spent 20 bucks on a wattage meter, I also wanted to make sure my 750w PSU was OK with having two big GPU's to feed, it is.

Second photo is running Valley, crossfire enabled. 621w, I reached 660w when I overclocked to 1100MHz on both cards.
 

 
That's my entire rig. An overclocked 4690K, a Vapor-x 290, a Nitro 390, and ten frigen case fans all pumping out hot air. At 660w max. On a 750w Corsair PSU.

The fact that it surprises you, surprises me.

Just because you have owned the card and have told them what happened doesn't mean you're entitled to a new one, for all they know you could've sold it and are trying to scam them.

While I've had a few things start smoking and a battery bank catch on fire I can't comment on the smell, due to well... my lack of smell.

PSA: Don't throw away something that you're meant to send in for a replacement.

if the odor was really that bad you could have put it in a plastic bag or box and sealed it

I agree. A few days ago I scored a MSI 290 Gaming for 190 shipped with original box, accessories, and proof of purchase so I can RMA if need be.

Dual 290Xs. They're just below a 980 for now. Two of them will absolutely waste the 980. And I don't even want to think about what will happen in DX12...
 
Computationally, the 290X is an absolute face-wrecking monster.

Go dual 390s.

Never played fallout for graphics, not that it matters to me now anyway, but am I the only one who sees those low rez textures even from this distance?

I'm actually not that impressed, but then again i'm one of those people who don't care about Fallout. The graphics side doesn't impress me either.
