  1. I'll give that a try, I've got a bottom intake currently but temps didn't change regardless of whether nor not the side panel was on. Ventilation doesn't seem to be a problem, I have 2 3000rpm Industrial Noctua AF-14's at the front and running them at full speed didn't really make more than a ~1C temp difference. I'm running at stock clocks from MSI. Clock speed isn't dropping as far as I can tell other than 1 time. From my personal experiences with an MSI Gaming 290 and now 390x, is that for some reason they just seem to run ridiculously hot in comparison to an XFX 290 which has a notably smaller cooler. I'll have to try undervolting it and see if its just MSI running a high stock voltage to guarantee stability.
  2. Good points guys, I'll keep running it for now. Who knows, it might even die next spring and MSI will upgrade me again when I RMA it (lol probably not). On a side note, it tends to run in the 85-90+C range with fans at 100%. Should I swap thermal paste?
  3. Think I should just keep the 390x for now then?
  4. I rma'ed my MSI 290 in December and get a new 390x Gaming back. However, I'm debating selling it and buying an Rx 480 or just rolling with my old 7790 until Vega launches. Should I sell now while there's still lots of value or should I hold on and wait for vega? I play at 1080p also for consideration.
  5. Kinda sounds like a PSU problem, what's your PSU?
  6. No need to upgrade for the next 8 years then I guess. #thanksintel Oh well... I hope AMD's Zen gives Intel a righteous spanking. They need it
  7. You're blind, the switch is on the back. flip it to on. Problem solved, they didn't lie. Sauce: I have one
  8. Same, I'll just make my CC refund me. Technically it's pending
  9. Keeps trying to open the Microsoft store app where is $53 any workarounds?
  10. I imagine this will happen in the future. However unless there's at least 16 Gb on the CPU die itself, there'd have to be some motherboard/chipset or OS kungfu trickery if there was traditional ram in addition to the HBM on the CPU die
  11. G2A and other key sites are very affordable with Steam keys. PC 1 Console 0
  12. Everyone already told you yes. Fan headers are fan headers. It'll work
  13. make sure the rubber part of the fan is on the heatsink and the clips are attached properly.
  14. Ewww. Why is it so difficult to get a respectable looking case...
  15. As an Mechanical Engineering College Student, aside from my desktop, I've used a laptop with an i5-4200m and it's integrated GPU is more than enough for CAD. Is it enough for simulations? No. But then again that's what the desktop is for. I really don't see a real practical use/justification for this. Not to metion the fact that that's the most unprofessional laptop I've ever seen aimed at anyone working in the engineering field. We don't want this ugly shit MSI. This isn't some dank RGB OC SUPER BRIGHT laptop for engineers.
  16. Linus's silent gaming PC is a mystery I have been unable to achieve thus far... maybe it's time to buy a bunch of industrial NF-A14's for my Define R4... RIP wallet.
  17. IMHO: 1.35 is a bit deceptive and negligent on their part. run it with the 1.238 and XMP and call it a day no way you can run 1.35v on a single 120 AIO.
  18. There's multiple ways to do it. but there should be a version to download from ASUS's website that you can put on a flashdrive and then flash without an OS. Corrupted BIOS is a long shot but, it's really all you can do besides RMA'ing the mobo. YOu've done everything else already. If the drive works in your PC it has to be the mobo then.
  19. I have an MSI 390x and it sags just was much, don't worry about it!
  20. First things first, 1.35v is above Intel's safe 1.3v max recommendation, it's gonna make your CPU degrade and burn out faster for no reason. Secondly, I would suspect bad TIM to be your problem, a number of AIO's have low quality TIM from the factory pre applied which is probably what you have. You should be getting results similar to these: http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/corsair_h80i_gt_review,10.html I have a 4770k and 1.238v for stock speeds seems a bit high. Try setting everything back to default and disabling any preconfigured motherboard overclocking. Motherboard preconfigured overclocking settings typically run really high on the voltage to make it more compatable with more chips.
  21. You're welcome! I ran a 290 off an 8 year old 500w Antec PSU and had the same problem. Bought a new bigger PSU and that fixed it Enjoy man
  22. Given that, instead of the HX 1200, I'd recommend the EVGA SuperNova P2 1200. It's cheaper and preforms better. It also can be under 600w of load before the fan turns on which is better than pretty much every other PSU out there in that wattage or above. JohnnyGuru gave it a 10/10. It's so good I just bought one. http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story6&reid=389
