Get a better GPU. It will improve your gaming and if you are already with an nVidia GPU, I'd strongly recommend going with the 980 since, from atleast what I've read and seen, 970 isn't viable for it's price. Hope I've helped

Mainly because Nexon and community ;P But it has some nice gamemodes.
    I suggest:

-Battlefield 2: Project Reality Mod ( realistic combat shooter MP, 1.2 out )
    - Valve games (   portal 2 (coop), l4d, team fortress...)
-Killing Floor ( works on any system and its fun! Especially with custom maps ( the hive ) with friends on closed server)

    - Quake Live: free, not pay2win, one of the best multiplayer FPS ever created after Quake 3 Arena
    - Left4Dead: cheap and good for co-op
    - Killing Floor: as above
    - Warsow: similar to Quake Live but with CPMA physics (basically movement requires more skill than Quake Live) and a little less players

It definitely runs really badly on my GTX 770 - as far as optimization and physics go, I'm disappointed.
The story/game play otherwise seems ok. I didn't pay for the game though, I got it free with my GPU - had I bought it, I think I would be angered.

Just for now I'm dissapointed, but still looking forward to playing it through.

Hey, that's great news. I'm really looking forward to make the hop to a Linus OS in a year or two.
It really looks like they are gaining momentum.

But, I'm even more happy you mentioned that W2 was on 80% sale! I really wanted the game, so thanks for that!

That was unexpected, here's a post from GamingOnLinux from an hour ago, so I think this may be fresh news, one important thing to note, AMD GPUs are not supported, neither are intel iGPUs.

The reason has been posted in the comments, and it will be fixed in the next Catalyst.

This is a pretty large, graphically demanding and very good game that now runs on Linux by making use of OpenGL 3.2, I'm impressed and in my opinion this will please a lot of Linux gamers.

It's also available on Steam today for 80% off for the Windows or SteamOS/Linux version!

Happy gaming Linux folks, it's a great game!

    Introduction

    Hi,

I wanted to write a build log for my first proper build.

I want to send my props @Faceman for his help in the New Builds and Planning sub-forum. took a long time thinking and picking between a Midi-tower AMD build or a mATX intel build, after which I took another long while to plan to pick my GPU.

    Background Information
I've always loved gaming and I've always been a major user of PCs. In 2007 I picked the parts for my first build as a 16 year old, however, I had it built for me instead of building it myself. It was a Intel Q6600 / 8200GT based gaming PC and really did the job at the time.

That computer was great for my needs until about 2011 when I switched to using primarily a laptop. After finishing uni and making some money working, I decided I was sick and tired of a laggy pc with a low resolution.

I really wanted something relatively compact, because I move around a lot. I also wanted something that looked great, but wasn't too flashy (i.e. no crazy cases with tons of lights).

The Aerocool Dead Silence Cube really hit my eye. It's quite sleek and understated. What I really like is the horizontal motherboard, which should prevent GPU sag and also, it makes the GPU the primary "eye candy" you'll end up seeing through the cases window.

Another strong option would've been the Xigmatek Aquila.

    Final Part List & Pricing
I was on a budget, which I ended up going over by about 150€ by adding a new PSU, an SSD and going for the GTX 770 instead of a R9 265 dual-x or 270.

The primary purpose is multimedia, working and 1080/60 FPS gaming. I think this computer will do nicely for those purposes for the next 5 or so years.

    Aerocool DS Black Edition with window, mATX - paid 63€;, price in Finland 93€; Intel i5 4760K - paid 144€;, in Finland 204€; Hyper 212 EVO - 35€; ASUS GTX 770-DC2OC - paid 217€;, price in Finland 307€; Corsair CX Series Modular CX600M, 600W - paid 63, price in Finland 71€; ASRock Z87M Pro4, Socket 1150, mATX - paid 79€;, price in Finland 92€; 8GB Kit G.Skill RipJaws-X CL9 1600mhz - paid 66€;, price in Finland 79€; A-DATA 128GB 6Gb s SP900 paid 63€;, price in Finland 72€; Samsung 500GB / 7200 RPM Seagate Barracuda 250GB / 7200RPM LG DVD/RW be quiet!Shadow Wings SW1 140mm mid-speed paid 14€;, price in Finland 20€; Windows 8.1 Watchdogs game = 752€
    -------------------------------
    The total for this identical set-up bought from Finland for the cheapest price on each part would be 973€;
Additionally, I saved about 180€ using old HDDs, Windows 8 and a DVDRW.
    -------------------------------
I am quite happy with the specs of this build considering what I could've got for 750€ buying parts from Finland.

    Build Comments
So far building has been quite easy and fun. I'm waiting till tonight for my CPU and GPU to arrive. Then I get to test that all my parts actually work and aren't DOA. I'm super excited to get this build ready.  Here are some pictures so far!

Whenever I remove paste, i simply take an alcohol wipe we have laying around meant for cleaning wounds and dry with toilet paper. Never had an issue removing the stuff.

It is not that difficult to remove(a little tedious though). If you want you can be lazy and do a poor job and it won't affect temps a great deal anyway. But it is always better to play it safe and make sure you clean it all off though.

You'll be fine so long as you keep things at stock speeds. Removing paste is also a painless thing that takes less than 5 minutes to do.

nahh install the stock cooler it takes about 5 minutes to swap to the other one when you get it...just whipe off the thermal paste with toilet paper until the surface is clean and put new one and new cooler...you could use isopropyl alcohol as it is recommanded to make sure the surface is 100% clean but i always used only toilet paper and never had any issue.

+1, this really turned me off of Kingston. I saw the reviews on Newegg.com when buying my first SSD and this made me really mad.

I've really liked my AOC monitor - never heard of any issues, but maybe I am one of the lucky ones.
