I think that alcohol and smoking are both really bad, and that we would be better off (slowly) entirely getting rid of them. Literally the only positive sides of them are that it gives some jobs, and it gives some people pleasure. The amount of trouble it creates vastly outweighs these benefits, in my opinion.

That is because many people are addicted (to some degree) to it, which, in my opinion, is also bad.

    Summary
It seems some consumers have had enough with scalpers on eBay lately, with reports of people heavily overbidding on 3080 listings and not paying to cost scalpers eBay fees and other inconveniences.

Interesting, I actually find some coffee to smell good (I believe that it's generally filtered/brewed coffee that I think smells good), while some coffee I think smells quite bad. Its taste is universally lackluster (and I don't  want to drink it because it has too much caffeine), in my opinion.

Here are some written numbers: https://tweakers.net/reviews/8152/1/nvidia-geforce-rtx-3080-maakt-nvidia-de-hoge-verwachtingen-waar-inleiding.html quite a few written numbers, actually. It's in Dutch, but with google translate or so you'll get quite far, and the graphs should be understandable anyways.

lol yeah, we'll know to eliminate the stupid drivers.

Then that's probably just an American thing. Fits in with how many of them appear on the internet. Seems that the many jokes we make about Americans are more true than we thought they were.

No. You can't cycle in parks, nor can you cycle in a swimming pool. Not everyone wants to swim, or always wants to swim. Cycling indoors is definitely very different from outside. It's fun for some people, but others like being outside much more.

Also, cycling isn't just for fun. Cycling is also a good method of transportation. When I didn't yet go to university, I always cycled to school. There was no alternative. And that is a good thing, as people should be encouraged to cycle, instead of wasting fuel and adding to environmental issues.

And, "my roads", lol they aren't your roads, they're for everyone who's legally allowed to be there. They're also for pedestrians crossing/walking.

Where I live, those people are less than 0.001% of the cyclists I see. When I'm on holidays in France or Germany, those people are still less than 0.001% of the cyclists I see.

Then changes need to be made to the road to make it appropriate for bicycles.

A lot of your problems are only caused by bad cyclists, such as those who swerve around the road, go on the inside of buses, or don't signal correctly. (PSA: Drivers make this mistake too. If you run me over because I'm crossing a road that you turned into without signalling then it is 100% your fault).

I'd wager you live somewhere where people are stupid and don't know how to cycle on the road. Or where people don't know how to drive around cyclists.

Where I live, drivers can easily overtake cyclists, because cyclists leave enough room to do so. Great.
But also, drivers have the basic level of common sense required to, for example, not overtake cyclists who are signalling to turn across their path - so that's a right turn in the UK, and left in much of the rest of the world (and if you didn't know you aren't supposed to do that, then you shouldn't be allowed to drive). Also great. It's a two-way thing.

It is blatantly incorrect to place all the blame on cyclists. If you are a driver, then you are also part of the problem.

The other thing I will criticise is your stigma against people who like to be outdoors. Ever considered that people might like fresh air and the feeling of freedom?

TomvanWijnen reacted to pythonmegapixel in Your unpopular (non-political, non-offensive) opinions!
That's a problem with the road.

Why the hell would you have a 55 limit on a road with blind turns which is used by cyclists? Whoever designed that needs to be fired.

They're only a road hazard if you make them one.
If you are driving defensively, they aren't a problem.

But you're right cyclists don't belong on the road. Where they belong is on cycle paths, but outside of major cities (and the Netherlands) there are pathetically few of them. Drivers whinge about cyclists on the road AND about cyclists getting their own dedicated infrastructure - make your mind up! You can't have it both ways!
Cars should not have right of way because it creates a false sense of security and that's how you end up with idiots who just turn into side roads and mow down pedestrians who were crossing safely.

    See my point?

    Uhhh... why?
If I have a journey which I can make either for free and in an environmentally friendly on a vehicle which costs about £300 (a bike), or for the cost of fuel in a polluting manner on a vehicle that costs 100 times that (a car), which am I going to choose?

The inherent design of American cities mean that most people don't have that choice, and that is a bad thing.

According to a random source, more than 50% of people [EDIT: in the Netherlands] live within 15 km of their work. Thus, here in the Netherlands many people cycle to work, to school, to the station for public transport, to many things.

both OS'S are good, neither is inherently better than the other. People prefer one over the other, and that's fine, I strongly dislike the fanboyism (in general, not from you or this thread) in the tech world where people argue for their preffered product and hammer down anyone that disagrees

I have to admit , I'm quite enjoying that the "always update" people don;t actually relize theres a big difference between managing 100 machines in an office building with inexperienced users vs a single computer sitting at a house on no network.

basically the two sides are clashing and not figuring out that the two situations are different and therefor have no relation to each other. lol

I'm not sure what you mean, if you have a 2080ti it's not like it's suddenly a bad card, if you're satisfied with the performance then no need to upgrade. As much as I'd like to get a 3070 nvidia has been increasing prices since the rtx 20 series, so I'll wait and see if amd can compete because nvidia is getting insane with pricing because they're only competing with themselves.

This is always how the GPU market has worked, who cares?

That said, this is also what happens when weak minded consumers continue to shell out an ever increasing amount of money for GPUs. The consequences wouldn’t be so dramatic if top tier cards still sold for $500 instead of $1500, but people have shown Nvidia that they’re willing to grossly overpay and Nvidia is exploiting it.

So your entire argument hinges on the user being non technical or uneducated in pc security basics. Your argument would be quite good if we were all exact clones of each other.

But do be sure to now talk about how every single person needs to drive a 1 week old car with the latest security features and to not do so would be dangerous.

Every argument always comes down to a person not seeing the other sides point of view.

If you can't see that windows updates are extremely bad and annoying to people who have no use for them , then that's on you and your lack of experience outside your own bubble.

I don;t care if other people wanna leave their updates on , doesnt effect me. But i sure as heck am not going to tell experienced users who know what they're doing for their own situation what to do. lol that's just silly
