TomvanWijnen got a reaction from DemonAtBudget in Mini ATX board too weird in ATX mid tower case?
I used to have an ATX motherboard in my ATX case, with my GPU in the 2nd and 3rd slots, until I was given a newer mATX (micro ATX) motherboard. It also has the GPU in slot 1 and 2, but still looks just fine in my ATX case. I would say, go for it!

    False.

It's easily a hot deal because before the 23rd of September, Rocket League is $19.99. Also included is an additional $10 off Epic coupon that you receive for free. Which gives you an additional hot deal.

With multilanguages, do you mean learning multiple languages? If so, I agree, if I wouldn't have learned English as my second language, you wouldn't have to see me around here.

In all seriousness, I disagree. I think learning another language opens up many possibilities. Me being able to do stuff in English allows me to understand so much more content, learn more, have more fun, et cetera. And all it cost me was 0 money. I learned all my English through school and by myself. Even so, I definitely would be willing to pay to get to the level of English I'm at today.

And it doesn't just end at English for me. I also know a fair bit of German. Very useful when going on holidays to a German speaking country, or when something is in German. I also know a bit of French. Useful for the same reasons as why German is useful. The bits of Latin and Greek I know also help me understand different languages better.

All in all, I'm very happy that I got to learn more languages than just my first language.

TomvanWijnen reacted to dalekphalm in Is EU Accepting Migrants From US?
Mostly due to the average person not understanding how the EU works, and #Brexit proponents outright lying about the kind of monetary savings and benefits leaving would give (without giving proper context on how leaving would affect many things that UK citizens take for granted).

With that in mind, we'll see in a year or two how it actually plays out.

Year after year countries in the EU rank at the top in global happiness indexes. Clearly they are doing something right. Sweden, Norway, and Denmark consistently share the top spots. Why would you want to destroy that?

Take it from someone that was born and raised in America. Money is not everything. The USA is the only developed nation in the world to not give its citizens healthcare as a right. The US also has the most wealth inequality of all the developed nations. Just look at the social unrest this is currently causing. It is sparking a race war and fascist take over of our government. Our corporations have bought out both wings of our politicians completely. Americans work the most hours out of nearly all developed nations. Tax fraud is rife and without consequences. In America the average person pays a higher tax rate the the richest corporations in the world. America is severe class division and greed incarnate. It's not even really a nation with culture and community. It is just a big business.

"other products are also overpriced" is not an argument against Apple's products being overpriced. Furthermore we were using RAM prices as a specific example and those are outrageously absurd when compared to the price of almost any comparable standalone kit you can find on amazon.

I am not 21. I am near 30 because I began work out of high school and started college later. I am perfectly aware that money matters, but in the USA it is God. I care more about the welfare of people than I do about dollars. I don't want to contribute to a country that makes so much unrest and inequality in the world. Honestly, the rest of the world is starting to notice also.

I'm not the original poster, but, yeah, I think that would solve their issue, but it would also create a new one: it would always show the "edited" message, instead of being able to leave it out when just fixing a typo or so. In such cases, I think it's better to continue not to have an edited mark, as it is (in my opinion) unnecessary and may confuse people.

Unless you are buying a gaming laptop, always put more money into your CPU than your GPU, unless you have the money for a higher-end GPU.  That flagship CPU you just bought will likely be good enough for at least one GPU upgrade cycle.

Example: The i7-6700k was considered "overkill" when my dad and I paired it with a GTX 1070.  Now, he's likely to pair it with an RTX 2070 SUPER, which the i5-6600k simply would not keep up with 100% of the way.  That i7 was worth it!

We have a few bike paths in my area. One follows i275 and I see shit loads of people using it. I agree, we need more paths, because it would be safer and promote less people to drive. Less people on the roads leads to less accidents and road rage.

TomvanWijnen reacted to pythonmegapixel in Your unpopular (non-political, non-offensive) opinions!
We had this discussion a few pages ago.

The upshot was that these problems are caused by a mixture of terrible cyclists who don't have a clue how to ride a bike, and inadequate off road cycling infrastructure forcing cyclists onto the road, with a bit of incompetent driving thrown in.

You are absolutely correct that cyclists don't belong on the road. Where they belong is cycle paths, fully segregated from the road, but authorities don't build enough of them in many countries.

TomvanWijnen reacted to minibois in Why is computer hardware so heavily taxed in some countries ?
Could be a couple of different things.

    1. VAT/Sales tax: as far as I have seen, people in the US have to file sales tax on their own, which is just not the case in all other countries. Sales tax in the US, but also anywhere else in the world can be between 5-30%, which means the prices you see in some countries are with and others without this added cost.

    2. Economy of scale: In some countries, PC's components just are not as abundant as in the US. Shipping 1000 of something is cheaper per unit than shipping 10 of something. In countries where PC components are less popular (and/or smaller countries) may not benefit from the same economy of scale as other countries.

    3. The route parts take: this goes hand-in-hand with the above point, as suppliers or manufacturers of components may decide not to supply directly to a certain country; relying on suppliers in a nearby larger country to distribute among the region. A good example would the Western Europe; where Germany receive a large quantity of components and suppliers in that country serve other countries in the region. Of course with Schengen, there is free travel of goods, but transport costs still apply.

    4. Import tax: another point which ties in with the previous two. Some countries may decide to apply a (large) import tax on foreign goods to encourage local development and manufacturing. The best example I remember would be Brazil. In the past I had seen a show which went over the large import taxes in this South American country, to encourage local manufacturing. This meant 'commodity' tech and cars still were very expensive. Unfortunately I can't find the exact details on this and the import tax may be sort of lax nowadays (as it doesn't seem that different from neighboring country Argentina, but it's definitely something that affects the market in certain region.
