This doesn't necessarily mean that UPlay won't be required as 3rd party DRM. Having said that if you look at the game's Steam page there's currently no mention of UPlay being required as 3rd party DRM:

    http://store.steampowered.com/app/323320/

South Park: The Stick of Truth on Steam did not require UPlay at all so it's definitely possible.

razor767 reacted to typographie in Are there any good PC games worth playing?
That's tricky these days if you don't want any RPGs. More games than not have RPG mechanics today, so you really should clarify that. When you say no RPGs, what specific systems or mechanics are you trying to avoid?

This is a really gross attitude. I think nearly half of my favorite recent games have been games I'd rather play with my Xbox pad: Dark Souls, The Witcher 3, practically everything by Platinum. Analog control is a perfectly legitimate thing to use on PC when the situation warrants it.

What about racing wheels and flight sticks? Flight and racing sims rarely play best with keyboard and mouse, and that's been true for decades.

I don't know how the Xbox One S controller differs (if at all), but I have the original Xbone pad and I have only ever used a micro USB cable to connect it. I don't even own the wireless adapter. I don't put batteries in it, I just plug it into one of my keyboard's USB ports with my cell phone charging cable and all is well.

That will work very well, you pretty much built the exact same computer I did a few weeks ago, granted I skipped the spin hdd because I don't want the noise and I used a nano rather than a node.

Personally I would change the motherboard for a cheaper one and get rid of the fans as they're not necessary then try and squeeze a 1070 into your budget.

Dissapointed, really. AMDs obsession of using HBM2 on gaming PCs is really digging them a hole in the high end market of GPUs. The VEGA delays basically prompted everyone to buy 1070s/1080s/1080ti and when VEGA actually comes to the market, VOLTA well come out soon which will most likely offer 20% better performance than top end single GPU VEGA, again it will gtx 1070 vs fury x all over again. Sucks that many people expected VEGA to launch right after Polaris, and it has already been a years since Polaris was announced

It is a pretty good game (and a really good deal for that price).

However, they just released a new "Must-Have" (read: very important gameplay changes) paid DLC, so if you get immersed in Vanilla stellaris, you're still gonna have to buy the DLC at full price (which is basically how paradox makes money these days).

So scam-ish, because they want to lure you into buying the DLC, but for the base game it's a great price.

Yes, I got it from Humblebundle as well, great game for $11.
I am not much of a strategy player but I enjoyed Civ and Stellaris is basicaly Civ on steroids.

I don't have any of the DLC, not sure if they are worth it, they are quite expensive. I still enjoy the base game though.

As a hardcore Paradox player i'd advise against it normally- but for the price it's good. If you're into grand strategy however i'd also say take a look at EU4, Hearts of Iron 4, CK2 etc. They will suck hours and hours out of your life (whilst also teaching you loads about the historical period you play in)

Stellaris ATM doesn't fill like a finished game, there isn't really too much depth in it as there is in the other older paradox games, but like I said, if you have $12 to spare and you like space games, go for it.

they get pretty complicated pretty fast. But from 2 or so years of playing them I've amassed about 1000 hours overall on EU4, HoI4 and Stellaris put together- overall they are absolutely insane games which I rate at least 9/10, just Stellaris isn't the best one (imo).
If you get Stellaris though it'll put you on a path to trying the others. (unless you find history boring because there's a lot, lol)

I played CK2 and EU4.. both of those games have an extremely difficult learning curve. I never got to enjoy those as after 20h or so I always lost interest as I had no idea what to do after a certain point, lack of tutorials... you need to watch a lot of YT to understand many things in those.
Stellaris is far less complex but much easier to pick up and play. That's why I enjoy it so much more despite it to be a cut-down version.

You definitely want 8GB of RAM. Or make sure it can be upgraded, then buy it and upgrade the RAM. It'll help with multi tasking, like having a few browser tabs and a bunch of documents open.
