Appreciate the effort. will a 450w psu be enough?

That will work very well, you pretty much built the exact same computer I did a few weeks ago, granted I skipped the spin hdd because I don't want the noise and I used a nano rather than a node.

I already own the hdd since I salvaged it from an old build, felt like a shame to let it go to waste.

Personally I would change the motherboard for a cheaper one and get rid of the fans as they're not necessary then try and squeeze a 1070 into your budget.

    For example: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/p63t2R

The mobo I picked is no doubt a bit expensive but I mainly picked it for it's front m.2 slot and heatsink to help reduce ssd throttling .

Since I what my build to be as quiet as possible I would prefer a non-blower gpu  which is why I thought  the fans would be necessary. A 1070 would be awesome though.

  4. I would like to build a new ITX gaming rig as early as next week and would like some opinions on this build. I would like my rig to achieve the following:

    • 1080p gaming
    • Small form factor
    • Quiet as possible
    • Budget including monitor around £1300

    Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory  (£110.40 @ Aria PC)

As a hardcore Paradox player i'd advise against it normally- but for the price it's good. If you're into grand strategy however i'd also say take a look at EU4, Hearts of Iron 4, CK2 etc. They will suck hours and hours out of your life (whilst also teaching you loads about the historical period you play in)

I've not played any of Paradox's grand strategy games. I've heard that Stellaris is a good one to start with because it starts off as a 4X game and then becomes a grand strategy game.

It is a pretty good game (and a really good deal for that price).

However, they just released a new "Must-Have" (read: very important gameplay changes) paid DLC, so if you get immersed in Vanilla stellaris, you're still gonna have to buy the DLC at full price (which is basically how paradox makes money these days).

So scam-ish, because they want to lure you into buying the DLC, but for the base game it's a great price.

From what I can tell, Leviathans and Utopia are the only essential DLCs but who knows how much more DLC they'll add in the future.

I just had a look at CK 2 and EU4, both those games have a ton of DLC and some of them have recently been released despite the base games being 5 years and 4 years old respectively.

I've played all of those except Atlas Reactor.

    How is it?

It's a multiplayer turn based tactics game, to me it feels like XCOM meets Overwatch. I just started playing it and I think it's pretty good so far.

It's free to play so worth a try.

  8. My sister is looking for a new laptop, main use is MS Office (Word & PowerPoint). Budget is around £500, buying from UK.

    • 11-13" Screen Size
    • Reasonably thin and light
    • SSD preferred

So far I have found this, the only thing I'm not sure about is whether or not 4 GB of RAM is enough.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
