First of all, don't use ftp, it is very not secure. There is plain text password flying about, stay away.

Use something like scp or sshfs, much more secure and harder to get into.

You could always limit it to larger networks than specific addresses but less than whole internet.
For instance if you're a AT&T customer you could then whitelist the networks that AT&T announces to internet. These networks can be found on websites like https://bgp.he.net

I would however advice you as previous poster, do not use FTP (without SSL/TLS).

Vfo got a reaction from Lurick in New ASUS router limiting speeds
Something "broke" when I reset it and re-updated it. The Bandwidth Monitor no longer tracks this machines usage, but works for the other 7 clients - now this machine can run at close to normal speeds.

Think it's all working fine, just a few tweaks needed that probably comes in the near future.
    I'll contact support tomorrow regardless.

Thank you so much for your assistance with this, Lurick. It means a lot to us! <3

Vfo got a reaction from Arty in [Audio] Minijack 3.5mm 1Input2Outputs mixer with Vol control DIY - Need help!
I would like to make a mini-jack mixer box with a 'simple' purpose, but have no knowledge of anything of this type.
I hope someone can help me figure out what I need, would be very much appreciated.

I made a quick illustration, pardon my creativity

All inputs and outputs are mini-jack 3.5mm connectors.
Volume adjustment for seperate channels. Can be a slider instead of knob as well if that's easier to make.
Optional disconnect buttons (only one active output at a time) to prevent lower volume and noise on inactive line since my speakers use a power saving feature that automatically turns them on if they have a signal of any type.

As I have no knowledge of what goes into making one of these, I hope someone can lead me in the general direction. I don't mind trial and error.
    Which components would I need?

Got the mixer in the mail today, and it works like a charm! It made me realize that my current microphone isn't all that fancy since it still has a little static noise in the background, but people can't hear it on TS3 apparently - Happy times!

A little bonus I couldn't resist while I was at it as well.

Thanks for all your help and suggestions! Very much appreciated <3

That was a thought of mine at the beginning of all this, but it turns out to be even more expensive, and it wouldn't fit in with my guitar. It's a project for another time when I have a bigger budget for some experimental new sound equipment Thank you for your input though.

That looks more like what I had in mind. I already use the adapter you mentioned since my soundcard is using 1/4inch plugs. I will go to the store and let them demonstrate it and make my decision based on that

Holy s**t that changed things! This is amazing!  The customizability is superb, and best of all, it works lol. Replaced the original, doesn't pop up on the wrong monitor half the time, doesn't add a stupid scroll when hovering over shit and the buttons actually work and has text!

That will surely improve the overall feel of this. It didn't change the mouse block in the corners though, but hey, one step at a time.

    Thank you so much!

I'll keep researching those corners. I'm down to only a few major problems now, like programs refusing to start up when set to do so (probably something about administrator startup required, but doesn't work due to security settings or something), and settings reverting after restarts like language display near clock etc.

    One step at a time

Thank you once again, I really appreciate it!
