MatthewEnderle reacted to ThinkWithPortals in Britain's nuclear submarines still run XP
Lots of military and government computers run XP, it's not just the UK.

MatthewEnderle reacted to GoodBytes in Britain's nuclear submarines still run XP
Does not meet the posting guidelines, moved out of Tech News.
And yes, We know already that the U.K paid Microsoft to keep Windows XP support for them.
I am no experts, but I believe it has to do with old systems, where they don't want to take a chance that in a war situation you have a malfunction. The current system they have have been deeply tested, and used for years for exercises ensuring that all works perfectly well. The last thing you want is that you are in a war situation, you can't fire a missile because some new security measure in Windows 7/10 cause problem with the serial connector which connect the system to the missile launcher or something.
They probably will get Windows 7/Linux embedded systems with any future purchased of military ships, tanks, and such, which ever the manufacture of the military gear uses.

I have not seen this. We are first getting windows 7
Also most of the terminals for satcom are win 98 and NT. Which is probably older than 87% of the people on here.

MatthewEnderle reacted to DaltonM in Tips for creating a preview/trailer for a text based game?
No offense, but this is the most boring trailer I have ever seen. The transitions are so slow I could fall asleep between blurbs.
But for the OP this is a prime example of what NOT to do lol.

I made this one for my Minecraft server before I released it.

MatthewEnderle got a reaction from Naeaes in can i make this a 2nd moniter?
yes it's possible
I made Windows think I had two connected displays like this:
Right click on the desktop, click 'Screen Resolution' Click 'Detect' on the next screen Click 'Another display not detected' and under the multiple displays option select 'Try to connect anyway on: VGA' Click 'Apply' You can now enable your desktop to be extended as if you have a second screen plugged into your computer. To view the second screen. This can be done via LogMeIn or TeamViewer on iOS, Android, Windows, Mac and I believe Linux:
I used TeamViewer as I already use it, so already have it installed
Opened TeamViewer on iPad Connect to the computer setup previously Using a 'Monitor' button at the bottom, select and show screen number 2. iPad now shows screen 2 from PC. -
