Hello guys, I recently acquired a used Dell 5480 with an i7 7820HQ (UMA) 32GB 2400Mhz RAM I've been researching and this model does not have Thunderbolt 3, despite of type-c port, and locked settings on bios So my question is, can I use maybe a m.2 eGPU? anyone i've read trying egpu's on this model were using TB3 (which comes only on H series cpu + Nvidia dedicated, and mine is the integrated hd 630) I have 1 free slot pci-e for nvme ssd (smaller ones, the other one is beign used for a 1tb samsung 980 pro (not running gen4 but got a good deal for it) and I can still use wifi I have a monitor I can use, so instead of building a new desktop from scratch, maybe I can survive for a little time using a eGPU

Crimson 16.2 If I could, I already had reached that frequency my chipset isn't meant for OC, and I'm lucky to achieve 8.5x381 on this guy But for example, if I had an x58 mobo for the i7 960 the score in the GPu will be diferent.... But the question isn't only about the SteamVR, but also if I buy old hardware instead of upgrading do Haswell, cause I only need the mobo for the i7, but they're too expensive (+/- 200€) while if I go to Haswell, wich I need z97 mobo (+/- 150€) + CPU ( i5 4670k) almost 400€...

I've done the SteamVR Test, and I know that my rig have a huge bottleneck in there, but the software from Valve recomends me to upgrade GPU ?? CPU isn't actually taking full advantage of the GPU , but is my old man recomended ?? An old platform with a huge FSB bottleneck... Q9550 @ 3.2Ghz R9 280X Vapor-X 3GB GDDR5 8GB RAM 500GB HDD 7200 RPM 32Mb Cache P5G41-M LX ASUS XFX TS 650W 80Plus Bronze Zalman CNPS9700 LED And btw i have an i7 960 laying around my house, but mobo's for that chip is 200€+ on Ebay... Is it worth ? I'm planning to OC pretty bad so.... What do you think ? Do I put my money in a X58 Platform or Z97 ??

What do you mean with secondhand upgrade kit ? Buy parts used ?

Hi there, I recently got an i7 960! A friend of mine gave it to me without the mobo, cause the one he had was spoiled... He upgraded his system and thats why he gave it to me but I can't find motherboards to this CPU, only on eBay, Amazon, but they are very expensive (170-300€ used)... It's better let go this i7 away and buy new pc parts, or try to find some x58 mobo ? I'm stuck with 775 CPU Q9550S Regards

Woaaa ! LGA 775 rules i had no ideia that it could handle such performance! After all these years, i though i need to buy an new CPU, afraid of bottlenecking my system

So, even with my LGA775 CPU, my system is powerfull enough for r9 series ?

Hi guys I want to upgrade my GPU! I have an ASUS Radeon HD 6770 DirectCU 1GB with an q9550 @ 4Ghz I dont want to take off my CPU 'cause I think I'm well served with this old man besides, I dont have mutch money to buy CPU, Mobo... Wich GPU will fit in my system ? I dont like very mutch AMD 'cause with the newest driver doesn't like skyrim at all... My mobo is an ASUS P5Q3 Deluxe with 8Gb DDR3

I'm doing this since i have the desktop (2 months) and i'm looking for an ultimate solution for this smell... I'm thinking on buying an new cpu cooler... but i dont find coolers like this for 775 Socket in my local store

The case isn't the problem... i just bought this case 2 weeks ago, its fresh and new, but can i clean the cpu cooler with that disinfectant spray ?
