  1. The problem isn't only upgrading my motherboard if I want to go that far, but it's also upgrading my CPU cooler, RAM, SSD, etc. as long as I'm upgrading. I will test the system with 1080 SLI @ 3440x1440 and if I can reach averages of 100fps I'll be happy, if not, I'll consider upgrading my entire PC and be done with it. Buying the 3770k now will run me about $350 (I'm not sure if this is a good price for it), but hopefully everything will be OK.
  2. Solved! This video actually tests SLI 1080s on dual 8x PCIe slots @ 4k resolution and it has 0 effect whether you use the 8x or 16x for both cards. The only question I need to ask myself is whether or not should I upgrade my CPU... hmmm..
  3. Thanks for the feedback. I do agree - the CPU is slightly bottle-necking my BF1 but is the 3770k the best upgrade I can do? My ideal situation would be to squeeze the capabilities of my setup for another couple of years - do you think upgrading my CPU at this time to a 3770k would do that?
  4. I agree about the CPU bottle-necking, but I only play Battlefield and Fallout games (especially BF1 now) and videos on Youtube of benchmarks seem to show almost perfect scaling in GTX 1080 SLI even at 3440x1440 - they are able to achieve averages of 100fps+ using this setup. I overclocked the living hell out of my CPU and was able to reach 4.8ghz, so the bottleneck is minimal at this time (at least for BF1 which to be honest is THE most demanding CPU game right now).
  5. Hello geniuses! I have a fairly old system and I recently purchased a GTX 1080 card and its running beautifully (primarily playing Battlefield 1), and I also recently purchase the Asus PG348Q (3440x1440 @ 100hz) and was wondering if my old motherboard (Asus P8Z77-V) and old i5 3570k, which both max out at either 1x16 PCIe or 2x8 PCIe, would introduce any bottlenecks given the GTX 1080 SLI and 3440x1440 resolution. I watched Linus' video about him saying it won't for SLI 980s and read more about people running GTX 1080 SLI with my own motherboard (at only 16 lanes) and they said they had no problems, but they only ran the system at 2560x1440 (and probably 60hz). So the question is will I have any bottlenecks running GTX 1080 SLI only on 16 PCIe lanes @ 3440x1440 or do I need more juice? Thank you all!
  6. Thanks. I'm currently considering the Momentum but I'm heavily going to use them wirelessly with my PC and I can't find a Bluetooth transmitter for my PC that I like. I need something with aptX low latency and high range and I can't seem to find anything. I need to minimize the lag as much as possible and extend the range of the Momentum so I can walk around the house without major issues. Any ideas?
  7. Thanks but Linus just tweeted me that the Momentum sound better (sound clarity wise) and don't forget that they have a rated 22 hour battery (compared to 2 batteries for the 800s) and the welcome bonus of pairing to phone so I can accept phone calls on the go without removing the headphones + the fact I can travel with them without a use for the adapter and I can use them on my phone without any cables. I do realize the Siberia is an overall good value for gaming, but for a casual gamer who's looking more towards the audiophile category, I can see slower and slower the Momentum is going to be a better pick, I just hoped to find someone who perhaps owned both of them at some point and could compare the 2 in a sense.
  8. Hi everyone, I was wondering what's the best wireless headphones out there (over ear)? (exclusively for PC but added bonuses like pairing with phone is a nice plus) The reason I'm asking this is because I'm trying to find something decent and comfortable, and the best I could find is the Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 Wireless. Is there something noticeably better? I just got the Steelseries Siberia 800 (H Wireless) from Amazon to upgrade my Corsair H2100 (they haven't arrived yet) and I'm starting to think that I jumped the gun on this one and they won't be noticeably different from the Corsair's sound quality (and bass or loudness) (though the 2 batteries - unlimited wireless, and Linus's review of them was a good plus), but after watching Linus's review on the Momentum, I realized I might have made a mistake here, as I'm only a casual gamer and don't really need surround or the attached microphone that much, I just got excited and got them anyway thinking they will be a step up from the 2100s. Not to mention that the Momentum advertises 22 hours of battery. I'm very confused on what to do here! Help me out guys, should I refund the Siberia 800s and get the Momentum instead? Are they noticeably better in sound quality (or bass/loudness) than the Siberia 800s or should I stick with the Siberia and that's it? Your thoughts are highly appreciated.
  9. Hello everybody, I recently purchased a new PCI card to receive wifi from the other side of my apartment. The card I purchased is EDIMAX ew-7722in and it's performing WORSE than the old antenna that arrived with my PC (which came with my motherboard ASUS P8Z77-V). The antenna is called Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 and it's getting around 3/5 bars in reception and an average speed of 15mbps (the connection I'm paying for is advertised as 100mbps), it drops the connection from time to time and I have to re-install its driver every time I boot up my PC (I don't know why), it also dips down in speed to about 1-2mbps and sometimes it doesn't even find the network. I would have hoped that this new card with 2 antennas can perform better but it's getting the same reception, if worse sometimes, and the speed is a horrendous 1mbps. Even though my computer is tucked away in a corner and being obstructed by my wooden table and 2 walls to the router, these types of speeds are just unreal. I tried to run each connection alone while disabling all other adapters and I also tried to use both the Qualcomm and the Edimax card together on the hopes of strengthening the connection and the speed but with no hope. I tried tinkering with my router settings (which was provided from my ISP to deliver the speed I bought) but also it didn't help. I'm a noob at networks and hopefully someone can shed some light on this matter. Is there something wrong with the card I bought? Even though it's not considered top of the line it is actually one of the best cards I could buy in Israel (which is sad). Is there something I can do with the router settings? I have all drivers updated for the router, and both Qualcomm and Edimax from their respective websites directly. Is there a need for me to format? At this point I haven't formatted my computer for more than 3 years but I'm hoping to use the format as a last resort. I need help! Thank you all.
  10. Hi everyone, Thank you all for the responses. I do pay taxes on the money that I withdraw out of Paypal when the year is over. I consulted an accountant and he told me if the money is frozen I'm not obligated to pay taxes on it until it reaches my pocket. Secondly, I do admit that I was naive when I thought I could use the same PP account I created when I was 16, however as of right now, I'm not using Paypal for anything illegal. Apparently what caused the whole investigation to begin with (and the result from it was to find any reason to lock me out) was because of a dispute over a $6k transaction I had a couple of months ago. They told me only because of that dispute we need to make sure that none of your other clients are going to do the same. The bottom line is Paypal is giving me the option to refund the clients that I received money from (from the pool of $28k in my current account) and return it to the clients "before they complain or open disputes that I can't fight". That actually gives me the option to send emails to the 3 or 4 clients that sent me money to make the $28k and tell them to possibly use another service to send me the cash (a way that will not give me this amount of headache, for me and for the clients). I sent emails to my clients and they do agree that Paypal suck as all of them had problems paying the invoices that I sent. The question now is, what is a Paypal alternative that won't raise any eyebrows when I open an account with them and start making transactions with these amounts? I've thought of Bitcoins but at the same time, they aren't really a professional way to deal with clients, and the complications of buying and sending Bitcoins are a much bigger headache than transferring money to Paypal (so I think my clients will have a problem with that). Can somebody advise me on a way for my clients to send these amounts of money to me without the hassle? Thanks.
  11. Hi guys, I didn't know where else to turn, I have been using Paypal for the last 6 years (I opened it when I was 16 but didn't use it at all until I had my CC and bank account when I turned 18) and in the last 1 year I started offering a lot of services in regards to advice to investors that want to invest their money in Forex and such. I'm 21 now and I have accumulated over $40k in the last year of offering my services. I withdrew some of the funds along the way back to my bank account but I didn't want to take it all out as I'm constantly refunding and receiving large amounts of transactions to investors. 2 days ago Paypal sent me an email asking for more information about my business and when I finished typing a huge reply that took me 2 hours to write, they sent me another email with the bottom line of "your business doesn't matter anymore, we have frozen your account and the money in it for the upcoming 6 months, we will refund your clients accordingly (if any ask for it - without giving me a chance to fight the disputes) and you will never be able to use Paypal again. Your account and financial information will be forever locked and you can not use them in Paypal again, not your phone number, and address for that matter". The reason why they did all of this? Because they noticed that I opened my Paypal account when I was underage. It doesn't matter what age I am today as I already broke their T&C when I opened the account in 2008. I have already sent my ID, passport, bank statement and more information about my business to their email but they already replied telling me "your appeal is denied". After I called them, the supervisor of the whole limitation department answered and told me "I would be wasting my time trying to solve this problem". I should just wait 6 months and any remaining funds (after my clients ask for their money back for whatever reason) will be available for me to withdraw (they will send a physical check to me as opposed to a regular withdrawal). I was outraged as I use Paypal on a regular basis, hell the last time I used it was to support LTT's new office, but this whole thing just sounds fishy. I didn't even use Paypal in the first 2 years until I was 18 but that doesn't even matter to them (I didn't have any transactions done - not even a single dollar between 2008 and 2010 when I turned 18). They told me there is nothing I could do and I really want some advice from you guys if any of you has experienced this before. This also serves as a warning. If you opened your PP account while you under age, never use it for large transactions or they will use anything against you to suspend your account if they suspect that you have 1% of fraudulent activity. Thank you all for your time. Hopefully someone can shed some light on how I can approach them, if, that is, there is something for me to do.
  12. Hi there, A few days ago I have changed my router's channel from 6 (which is the most common channel everybody in my apartment building uses) to 9 (just a random channel) and since then I noticed that every time I restart my computer I have to uninstall my uhm... internet receiver's drivers and re-install them (Qualcom something. It came with my Asus motherboard and I've just been using it ever since - for more than a year). Now I'm not sure if changing the router's channel made that problem occur but I thought to myself what did I do recently since this problem started to happen. I tried changing it back to 1 and 6 and tried a bunch of them, that didn't help. And recently I've been noticing the actual speed has been degrading also. The wifi on my phone works just fine like always so no problem there, I guess it's a problem from my computer itself, but I can't keep re-installing the drivers, I need a solution so I don't go crazy. Did anyone experience this problem before? Would love some suggestions. Thanks.
