  1. http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/index.php/wasd-v1-custom-keyboard.htmlAny place where you can find cherry compatible caps will work.
  2. The reds are pretty much silent during the travel of the keystroke. They only sound they make is the thud the key makes when it bottoms out. I assume that its similar for the other silent switches like the blacks and the browns. The back plate probably has more influence over the sound than the switches themselves as his MX red board sounds much different from mine, which is a tad quieter than most rubber domes. However, the board with the alps is pretty much dead on (very loud.) This video is a better representation of the sound signature of the switches rather than the actual noise level. Its hard to really capture that without physically being in a room with one. If the noise gets to you too much you can always buy sound dampeners. http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/index.php/products/keyboard-accessories-2/cherry-mx-rubber-switch-dampeners.html
  3. ttesports level 10 m? Its the only mouse I can think of that has a military color option. I think anything black or gray would look good and it broadens your options up a bit.
  4. You get a bag of bare switches, one of each (I think its about 8 dollars a bag.) I don't think its the best way to go about testing them because its hard to really get a feel for what fits you best without actually typing with them. If this is your first mechanical keyboard I would suggest going with blues if only to get the full mechanical experience. One of my biggest regrets on my setup was getting a board with reds, which are kind of boring compared to blues or any other clicky switch.
  5. I have a keyboard (that my girlfriend claimed) with some white alps xm switches that are awesome to type on compared to the cherry reds im using now. They have about 70g of actuation force which is close to what greens are. Very fun to type on. http://www.ebay.com/itm/SIIG-Minitouch-XM-Alps-Clicky-Mechanical-Compact-Tenkeyless-Keyboard-/190786968282?pt=PCA_Mice_Trackballs&hash=item2c6bca1ada
  6. https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=109This might be a good option?
  7. If you have any spare fans with the 3pin style just swap the connectors and leave the 4th pin hanging. Its really simple and requires no cutting. Just take a pin heavy staple or something and press down where the metal shows on the top part of the connector (not inside where it interfaces!) and slide the pin out. Most of my pwm fans have this done.
  8. I have a RK-9000RE. Not sure what keycaps I will get. Honestly I think I might use the keycap money to buy something with mx blues or alps. The mx reds are just not cutting it for me after using the SIIG with its white alps.
  9. Me too. Maybe cover other switches like alps and buckling springs as well.
  10. http://www.fentek-ind.com/keys.htm Its the only place I have seen them (at the bottom of the page) pretty pricy however. Be careful with the paint, Its easy to fugly up a beautiful piece of hardware with a can of spray paint. Maybe RIT dye?

    $50 CPU cooler

I agree with getting the hyper 212 and upgrading fans/paste. After the 212, most other coolers are not worth getting until the $80ish range.

  13. From what I hear its not too uncommon for keyboard LEDs to go bad or be DOA. Might as well return it if its under warranty.
  14. I would connect most of those to the PSU off of the 5v or find resistors but with that many fans a controller might be the best option. Connecting all those fans to the mobo is certainly out of the question. Make sure all those fans can start up smoothly at low volts and don't click when undervolted. A bottom fan might be a better choice over the drive bay fan, but neither will really make much of a difference.
