Tass got a reaction from SullyBOP in GTX 980ti or Titan X
Yes, atleast wait untill you actually want to build the pc, and take a look at whats on the market at that time.
Btw: remember to follow your own thread

Tass reacted to NuclearPeace in JEDEC publishes GDDR5X graphics memory standard
Just like the Fury X wiped the floor with the 980 Ti?
HBM isn't a magic bullet and it doesn't automatically make GDDR5 useless. HBM is only going to be seen in flagships where the mid range (where most people actually buy cards) is going to be GDDR5X.

Tass reacted to Majestic in AMD's quarterly earnings report - operating loss of 49 million and net loss of 102 million USD
But even on their high-end market, they're selling bigger chips (phsyical size of the die) for considerably less money. Meaning slim margins (less yields from wafers), even on the high-end side. And budget sector is really where you dump your stock (low-yields etc) and split even. There is absolutely no margin on those products.
And yeah, their marketing is terrible and super SUPER salty. That 4GB means 4GB crap their PR person "rob" pulled was just absolutely cringeworthy. I have no respect for a company which does this or doesn't immediatly order their employees to take it down. It wasn't even funny, it was just...base.
It wasn't like Pepsi and Coca-Cola that always make fun of each-other on twitter. They have intelligent and savvy PR people making jokes for them. These are just salty employees.
AMD trying to reach gamers feels like;

and you still need a comparison price from the same region in order to compare prices.... who would have guessed....
And it seems like you are the one in need of "calming your tits" kid guess i hit a nerve somewhere..... but hey, have a great day.

Tass got a reaction from SeanMP in How much NUC is enough NUC?
I have an NUC with I3 5010U. runs everything media wise i throw at it and >usually< downthrottles (doesnt need all the power, runs at lower hertz) So yea, I3 will do great for you. I5 offers only very low performance upgrade in real life compared to the Price (thats my own personal opinion)
NUC5i3RYK with Intel m.2 ssd and 4gb ram running win 10.
Edit: Wireless lan is pretty powerfull aswell. my connection sits at 866m/bit with a fairly high amount of Electronics etc. in between the router and my NUC

Tass reacted to ImBleu in Microsoft launches the $140 Windows 10 Phone!
You seem very sarcastic in your post and you're bashing the product. It's obviously not made for you, but to the right market it's a brilliant device. Low end android isn't good and low end iOS is non-existant. The 'lite' feel of Windows Phone is exactly why microsoft can get away with hardware from yesteryear.
Why run minesweeper with a Titan X?
I understand you meant it as a joke, but i just don't like the bandwagon hating on WP.

Eh, you're nitpicking. The title isn't factually incorrect, and this website does gain revenues from strong forum post titles bringing in more outside readers.

Tass reacted to AlwaysFSX in AMD/NVIDIA Market-Share Table Shows NVIDIA Conquering But AMD Gaining Momentum With A 0.8% Increase
Did I specifically mention you? No, but I could throw a dart and sure as hell give you an example. This is a thread over AMD winning some market share back, not the endless debate on two fucking graphics cards with people having their heads stuck up their asses. The horse has been beat to death already.

There aren't any AMD drivers for it yet. There is for nvidia. Nothing to do with gameworks. I'm absolutely fucking tired of this anti competitive conspiracy bullshit. -

Tass reacted to Enderman in [Updated 11/4/15] Fallout 4 to NOT feature Nvidia Gameworks, but Nvidia is still working with Bethesda on the game.
this is BS
it didnt "cripple" AMD performance
it was an option in the settings for effects which were specifically coded for nvidia GPUs, so obviously turning it on for AMD GPUs would reduce performance more than normal
the entire point of it being an "option" is so that people who have nvidia GPUs can use it, and if you dont have an nvidia GPU DONT FREAKING COMPLAIN ABOUT IT DECREASING YOUR PERFORMANCE because it was not made for your AMD GPU
seriously, just deal with it
if you want those special effects then buy a GPU from the company that actually has money to give help to developers to effortlessly implement sweet effects
it takes nothing away from AMD, and adds stuff if you have an nvidia GPU

Tass reacted to Godlygamer23 in Mods please actually detail before locking.
We understand that the sudden locks in the Tech News sub-forum is not something that's been happening for a while. However, it's also our fault for not keeping up with the standards that we require and suddenly locking threads is going to be a sting for some people. I cannot go into details, but we are changing how the Tech News section is set up and what we require.

Nvidia, AMD, who cares. If all you want is to show off the brand you bought, start cross dressing and wear Bebe.

Tass reacted to MoonSpot in Volkswagen Ordered To Recall 500,000 cars, Faces $18 Billion Fine Over Emissions Defeating Software
Why are people taking about CO2? I thought this was about Volkswagens TDI engines and them rigging the E-test to botch detection of Nitric oxide/Nitrogen dioxide. The concern for diesel motors is NOx. Though a greenhouse gas the primary concern is smog and its particular matter that embeds in to the lungs. This has a lot more to do with healthcare(lung cancer) than environmental concern(s)
Diesel engines are more fuel efficient when they are HOT(generally speaking), however really hot combustion generates more NOx emissions. It's very easy to see VW's incentive to circumvent the regs and run hot unless durring an E-Test to sell more cars because of their greater efficiency to the customer at the pump.

Volkswagon defeats emissions... 18 Billion dollar fine...
Toyota accelerator pedal results in 89 deaths... 1.2 Billion dollar fine.
GM faulty ignition has resulted in 169 deaths... 900 Million dollar fine.
Seems fair.

Tass reacted to AlwaysFSX in AMD's Zen architecture will be late
Async compute has been and still is irrelevant. Just because GCN has supported it doesn't mean they're way ahead of Nvidia, just wasting their time and money on resources that aren't being used. DX12 isn't going to be a serious thing for another year until games come out having full support along with OS support. The majority of gamers are still running Windows 7 and 8, not 10. So you aren't going to be seeing games come out this xmas with straight DX12 support with all those bells and whistles you would hope for. It's not going to happen. So it doesn't matter if Nvidia doesn't have async compute hardware in their Maxwell cards. It wasn't needed a year ago when the cards launched because DX12 wasn't going to be a thing for another year minimum, most likely two. So what's the point of putting that on cards where people are just going to upgrade again later?
You whine because Nvidia does "planned obsolesce" when in reality it's the consumers that cause that, not a company.
No I'm not because it was never brought up. Just because a card is missing one or more features doesn't mean it isn't "ready for DX12." This has been a thing for every generation of cards that has been there for a new version of DX, the only difference this time around is people that think they know everything and we need to pussyfoot around their poor little egos so they don't get a boo-boo on their egos. Nvidia not having async compute hardware in their Maxwell cards honestly doesn't matter. It can be done driver-side with good enough performance for the handful of games that will use DX12 (albeit they won't even fully utilize DX12, as always) so people just just end up buying newer generation cards from both brands that have 100% support that time around.
It just does not matter.

Tass reacted to LinusTech in Robert Hallock: 'Vast Majority of DX12 Titles In 2015/2016 Are Partnering With AMD'
I fail to see how this matters at all. It's been years since an AMD-optimized title ran any worse on a green video card..
If you were to tell me all the DX12 titles in 2016 are TWIMTBP then this might be notable because AMD graphics card users might not be able to take advantage of proprietary stuff like hardware PhysX or Hairworks or whatever..
edit: side note.. does NVIDIA even call it The Way It's Meant To Be Played anymore?

Tass reacted to Master Disaster in AMD: No Such Thing As 'Full Support' For DX12 Today
Its amazing how you only pick out the details you want to see and not the whole truth.
The current benchmarks certainly don't show AMD beating Nvidia in DX12 performance, what they show is DX12 bridging the gap between AMD & Nvidia so their on par with each other but I've seen nothing to suggest AMD have magically overtaken Nvidia in anything.
Its not the consumers fault AMDs DX11 performance was diabolical, now DX12 has evened things out the AMD fans are all screaming about how their cards have come good and how they're finally beating the green team. What you are all forgetting is AMD has had a long time to optimise for DX12 as huge parts of it are designed around code AMD wrote (Mantle) while Nvidia haven't even begun optimising their drivers for DX12 yet. AMD might have caught up to Nvidia at this time but that only proves 2 things, one is just how bad AMDs DX11 drivers actually are and two is even with full optimisation in place AMDs cards are only equalling Nvidias with not much optimisation.
I used to love AMD, i really did. I had a 5870, twin 6870s, twin 7970s and twin 280Xs but I got so fed up with being fed old technology with a scribbled out product name and a new one written in pencil next to it, I got fed up with shoddy driver support and I mostly got fed up with games underperforming due to Nvidias 3rd party support program being better than AMDs.
Honestly AMD just seem to blame everyone else, its Nvidias fault their drivers don't perform, its Nvidias fault their hardware sucks, its Nvidias fault their CPUs are so far past it that Intel literally doesn't have to innovate in any way and can still outsell them 3:1.
AMD are a company in distress, they need to get their shit together fast before they die and are lost forever. AMD buying ATI was deemed a good thing when it happened but IMO it added to much stock to the pot. When they lost their focus and diversified they also lost their edge.
