dbcooper reacted to saladcrack in What do people hate about Apple?
Ok first, why is this in console gaming? Probably going to be moved but I had to ask. Second, I haven't seen a Mac vs PC add in like 10 years so that's not even relevant anymore. Third, Apple sells designer products that come with a designer price. They may not be as powerful as a similar priced PC but they run incredibly well because Apple keeps everything in-house, they can optimize the absolute crap out of their software so it can utilize every tiny bit of their undoubtedly under-powered hardware. Now I use a desktop PC but I use an iPhone 6s Plus and personally I find it much better than any Android device I've used (I've had other phones so don't call me a sheep or some dumb crap like that). They may be under-powered on paper but they make up for it with the incredible efficiency of iOS. Overall, Apple is a competitor and is going to be around for a very, very long time, either suck it up and deal or see yourself out of the tech world buddy.

dbcooper reacted to Eaglerino in Linus's Disturbing Trend to Clickbait
I think one of the better comments on one of these videos says it best, "If I see another shocked face it'll make me want to kill myself."
I mean Linus knows it's happening, he has to pose for the freaking shots. Is he really going to turn into people I actively avoided years ago, Tobuscus and RWJ, because of their stupid looking thumbnails? Does Linus truly have to resort to freaking 10 year old Imgur/Reddit memes?
Now I know, I know, if this is what maximizes views and monetary income then it's the right decision for Linus. It's perfect for them to do. It might even get them actively on YouTube trending's list, although even that seems to be less clickbait videos this last week thank Zaros. It also might be because of his expanded team, maybe someone thought this would be a good idea and much like Diablo 3 it's a bad idea that got through. Still, one missing subscriber won't hurt them even though I'll deeply miss their videos, but these thumbnails are giving me cancer and a few (Revive your old laptop) are just pure clickbait.

Pure clickbait. Going to unsubscribe. I'm coming from YouTube and this is NOT what we want to see. Been watching for 4 years now and this is it.

I really didn't like the video. It was a car commercial that LTT tried to make feel like another tech video but it was crazy produced by the guys at Toyota. It not only felt like a car commercial but it looked like one too. This was the worst thing LTT has done in a long time. And please understand I haaaaaaate that I just said that because I love LTT so fucking much. It was just way waayyy too commercial-y for me.
Edit - A user by the name of "PutUsernameHere" posted a comment that I think sums up how I feel about this post. Let me paste it here.

that video was sad. it was literally an ad to buy, my opinion, the ugliest car on earth.

dbcooper reacted to RedRound2 in Are Mac computers really that bad?
I specifically said laptops
Even the 27" is a objectively good computer especially the 5K version in terms of price too. Sure you can get a computer with better specs but its only comparable if the computer you get is completely equal or exceeds the iMac in all fields which not a single one ever will
1) No, battery is again objectively better. Just look at any reviewers who have also used a Mac a lot. In fact most of those reviewers use the mac as their daily drivers
3) Build quality is again a widely acclaimed feature. A full metal casing is again objectively better than a plastic shell that breaks over time
4) Most cheaper laptops use HDD or SATA SSD. Its only the $1000+ range you start finding PCIe based only to realize its always the slower version (ex: XPS 13 with 256GB). Macs have always had insanely fast storage
PS: Dont bother finding me some random $500 on amazon with PCIe SSD because you and I know its sucks
5) WIndows Laptops, definitely not. Most of them literally turns into a piece of shit after 2 years bloated. maybe the expensive ones you buy today might be last but certainly not it was two years ago. My 2010 MacBook is still going strong with at least 6 hour battery with only upgrades being SSD
6) Well people do buy because it lasts long as with all apple devices including phones and tablets
My claims have a reason and I consider my reason vaid as I'm not the only one who thinks so
Are they expensive, yes but far from overpriced only considering the longetivity

dbcooper reacted to RedRound2 in Error 53 bricks iPhone 6 after updating to iOS9 if it has been repaired by a 3rd Party
There were multiple reports that the phone could be easily recovered if you just put back the old touch ID button. Apple themselves said to contact Apple support to the affected user. The problem is this isn't even a big issue to begin with as very little people have experienced this.
Its these biased new sites who goes on all reach and lengths so say that Apple bricks the phone and its unrecoverable. I'm surprised someone like you would just blantly believe what some random report told without doing a little more digging
The 3rd part replaced a sensor that acts as a portal to secure part of the device. There's literally no stopping for theft of data. It's like giving your house key to some random person. And honestly people are stupid if they didn't realize that its extremely dangerous to give something like a fingerprint sensor for repair
Something simple as putting a chip behind the home button to copy whatever finger it reads is more than enough to steal data
Its a freaking button that most people press at least 20 times a day. And yet it doesn't fail for majority of the people. What's your point here? That apple wants everyone to go through this. If that was the case no one would be buying their phones. Sheer reliability has always been Apple's strengths
And FYI most companies use foxconn. You can learn how wrong you are here
Tier repair programs are for macs. iPhone repair only range from $99-$330 and most of them are just full unit replacements rather than risking having the problem again. So yeah it's not $750 to replace a home button as you stated
They produce average products? You must be one of those fanboys who've never used their products. Obviously they would like to lure you into their ecosystem because then you'll be paying them and honestly you would pretty much get the best experience on the market. If I remember paying a tad more for a superior experience is a smarter choice if you obviously don't have constraints
They don't control shit I do rather I have a pleasure using their products to do my work with all the seamless linking. Plus add to the fact that they keep continuing to improve the industry where the useless idiots trying to fit an 8K display into a 5" phone. Those are the sheeps and they would be completely lost without apple. If you just can't accept this and then you're just plain ignorant. That last little paragraph is exactly is what fanboys want to think of Apple when in reality its not. Milking money, In my experience not really as my 2010 MacBook, my iPhone 4S, 3GS (albeit as music player) are still perfectly useable and paying maybe $100-$200 extra got me alot of additional years of usability. Remember Galaxy S2 from 2011, look where they disappeared. Heck S4 and equivalent android phones perform like shit now and we're talking about iPhone 4S. Laptops have even sadder story where nothing until recently barely last 2 years+ retaining decent battery life (30min vs 5 hours)
So yeah you're just plain wrong who never owned an Apple product and of course you can come back at me claiming you do have but who's gonna check

dbcooper reacted to gilm0re3 in iPhone 6 leather skin
If you bought all of the same color and texture for both the top/bottom and the back, I believe they would send you one that is the back with separated top and bottom pieces that don't wrap around the top and bottom edges, and then one that covers the entire back and is all one piece.

It's not true that you can get a better pc than a MacBook Pro, especially if you get it from Apple's refurb store because no laptop has a trackpad as good as any MacBook.

dbcooper reacted to Prince32780 in Macbook vs Windows Laptop
Just a follow up for anyone following.
I went over my budget a little and got a new Macbook Pro 15"
The PCIe flash storage does 730 read and write which is ridiculous and there's 512 gb of storage
16 gb of ram, a beautiful display, switches between the iris graphics and gtx 750m automatically to save battery
I get around 8 hours
OS X is beautiful and the iMessages and Calendar integration with my phone is...
.. Magical ..
Not bad for $2100

dbcooper reacted to othertomperson in Least Favorite Tech Brand?
Actually that's the other thing that bugs me about this forum, and that's that a good percentage of people here cannot see the value of any PC that isn't for gaming. Whether it be a Mac, or Linux, or AMD CPUs or 2 GHz Xeons or a Celeron in a HTPC or 32GB RAM it doesn't matter, these people will get ranted at for not being well optimised for playing Crysis.
-
dbcooper reacted to othertomperson in Least Favorite Tech Brand?
You can't. I've been through this so many times on this forum. The Mac Pro with the 6-core Xeon and the two D700s (aka W9000s) costs £3500. To buy those two GPUs alone without the rest of the system is £5000.
Also remember that 5K iMac that everyone said was overpriced for costing the same as just the 5K panel itself?
I swear one day the people on this forum will learn to think for themselves and not hate a brand because they see people around them hating it.
