  1. Okay so im having a problem with text not displaying correctly AT ALL in a few steam games.

Much like this (if the attached files dont desplay right): http://imgur.com/BuA9FNO

I have no idea why its desplaying like this. So far its only Borderlands 2 and System Shock 2.... I have a feeling that the #2 keeps screwing everthing up lol.

Im running Ubuntu 14.04 if that helps and or could be the problem. And also i have tryed redownloading it with the same effects....

Have you tried disabling the steam overlay? Someone reported a similar problem and it fixed it: http://www.reddit.com/r/Borderlands/comments/2ifd87/borderlands_2_text_screwed_up_on_linux/

  2. Greetings!

Built my first rig in summer 2013 and about to build a mini-ITX rig soon. I've been watching Linus' videos ever since, but I hadn't bothered to sign up for the LTT forums until now.

Welcome to the forum @Daftworks! :) If you want building advice for your ITX rig, visit New Builds and Planning where I hope you will be able to find helpful advice.

Hello! Good to see all the new people. I like many just built my first computer. With no tech background, LTT videos were my school with one check on this forum, I'm amazed at what I've learned. I hope to contribute to this awesome community.

  4. hi all,

i recently subscribed to linusTT because it's a great way of receiving overall/ basic knowledge and it's a blast to watch too. the build in my signature is my 2nd one and i realized that i still have many things to learn about various details- i think this could be the right community to excuse my poor knowledge and funny english as well.

also, a late "happy new year" 2 all!

    Hi all,

    I'm Francis, 22 and from Belgium ;)

I'm kind of a universal geek, meaning I like:
Pc's , Hardware in general: I don't care if it's old or new. I get just as excited from a vintage iMac G4 as from that new crazy MSI laptop with mechanical keyboard  . Also I use both Windows & Mac (don't shoot me :D )
    I'm kind of a scifi/fantasy nut, ranging from Farscape/Eureka/Sanctuary/Star:Gate,Trek,Wars/LOTR,...

I'm currently engaged in studies for a bachelor degree in Automotive Engineering. => I'm driving a white Volvo 850 TDi which I love!
Still have 2 exams ahead of me(next Friday and Monday). So I won't be very active till then :P

    See y'all later! :D

    Grtz,

    Francis

  6. Hello all :)

    Hi there :)

    Hi

Welcome @Guuhan, @partyhardy, and @Repost (nice username ;) Hope you'll all enjoy the community.

    Hello,

I am building a gaming rig and have been seen a lot of your videos, so when is time to spend those $2500 ! I would like to help the cause... Here is the deal, I have been a long time Amazon user and have a ton of wish list saved and will be using those to purchase my equipment, so, how exactly do I go about using your affiliate link? Do I only open amazon with it and browse my pre-existing wish lists and then make my purchase? I know myself and I will be opening and closing a ton of tabs to check and re-check the stuff I am about to buy.

So, I guess what I need is a help me to help you guide just to make sure I help a bit for some more of your awesome videos... Also, do you have access to coupons or any kind discounts to share?

    Hope to hear from you...

    Cheers!

Welcome to the forum @luisbvs. For the amazon affiliate link, I believe that you click on your region (United StatesCanadaUnited KingdomGermanySpainFrance ) of your amazon store and once you click on the links you are able to shop on amazon by adding your items and checking out, giving ltt a small kickback. :)

If you want suggestions for your parts for your rig, you can visit New Builds and Planning where you will be able to create a thread there. Make sure you follow this template to make users easier to provide advice and suggestions: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/ Best of luck in your new rig ;)

    Hello

Hi! :) Nice matching profile picture with your username.

    Hi there!

I've been following Linus for a few years now, and he eventually inspired me to jump off of laptops and build a desktop. Took all year to build up the money but I got it built last month, and while it is not yet fully spec'd out (only has half the RAM and just the stock Intel cooler, but these will both be replaced soon) and I absolutely love it. I'm also a brony, but I don't really talk about it unless it's relevant. I also like Nintendo. I'm also a student, and am studying network engineering at New England Institute of Technology. So yeah, hi.

    woo, right thread this time

Welcome @Daring! :) Best of luck in your studies and hope you will enjoy the forum.

Hey everyone =) Mikhail from Red Harbinger here. I have also been following LinusTechTips for a while and enjoy watching the videos and refer them mostly to my friends since they're really well done!

Hope to talk to you all someday and have fun on these forums ! ^^

  9. Hey!

    Tom

    Hello everybody.

This looks like a great community and I am thrilled to be joining it. I have participated in some forums but never as heavily as I would have hoped and am hoping to change that this time around.

But really, this just looks like a great community and I would love to be a part of it.

Welcome to the forum guys! :) Hope you guys will have a nice stay here and in my signature are some links you may find helpful.

  10. Hi there, I'm Ciel from Italy, I've been following this forum for a while now (something like a whole year ) and finally decided to subscribe and actively participate in the community.

I look forward to discussing stuff with you guys, and I sincerely hope you won't find my English too horrible to withstand.  ^_^

Welcome to the forum @CielErrant ! Hope you will enjoy participating in the forum. :)

    Hey y'all

I have followed LinusTechTips on YT for quite a while now, and I now finally decided to make a account here and discuss topics and do a little bit of reviews.

    My passion?

I am a audiophile, and I have been for almost a year and a half now. I, personally, love collecting headphones and have a interest for gaming peripherals.

So see you all around! :)

Welcome @XenoWorks! :) The forum has an Audio and Peripheral section. Hope you will enjoy the forum :)

  11. so now were down to @mgsstar which would actually have been more likely based on CS game time.

I have the LED color changers and it does make it dimmer as you can see in the picture here: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/52-mechanical-keyboard-club/page-110#entry2173743

the q,e,t,r,p keys are technically pink but my camera sucks so it looks like white. The F keys have no led color changers on them while the letters and function keys have so it gives sort of a comparison. I'll try to get another picture of the full keyboard with full LED color changers and i'll update this post. The G710+ has white backlight and i've also seen some people use blue leds but can't find the link currently. Haven't seen anyone who used red leds for this though

EDIT: Found the picture with blue leds and using the color changers: http://i.imgur.com/Jrok3uE.jpg

  12. Hopefully. I haven't had much luck all semester. Currently failing algebra.

Even though math can be hard sometimes, try to ask questions (to the instructor or the forum :D) for stuff you don't get as these calculations and most concepts come up over and over in math. Best of luck in completing the rest of the course! :)
