  1. I use linux with a kernel based win10 vm for gaming. Practically no performance loss
  2. update: solved the issue. -my mobo ethernet port is a potato. -the pcie network card I received is dead A friend of mine had a server grade pcie network card laying around and offered it to me for 35 euro. Solved all my issues. I like to believe Im a pretty techy person, however I was used to having a ethernet connection which sometimes works when turned and when it doesn't, I'll just restart my pc and its fixed. Its been like this for a couple of years. ... When my ethernet port was "functional", the highest I ever saw was 70 Mps. Now I can reach 250 Mps. I've also disabled my mobo ethernet port in the bios settings, since its a potato anyway.
  3. Tried 2 different ethernet cables and reset the router which didn't help. ;c Disabled & enabled ethernet adapters. Uninstalled & installed ethernet adapters. Updated ethernet drivers. Disabled green energy / battery saving for ethernet. Disabled fast boot. Disabled intel LAN in bios so it would only see the 2 new pcie card ethernet adapters. Did a lot of commands in command prompt of which I can remember ipconfig / release & renew which also didn't work ._.
  4. Hi, I've tried for the better part of the previous week carrying over into this week to fix my ethernet port issues. My ethernet port on my mobo works occasionally, it used to be for a good 2 years that I had to restart my pc when I didn't get a internet connection to fix this problem. For example: No internet? , restart pc = internet. This week the occasional working ethernet port problem has started occuring. Most of the time it just doesn't work, so Im using ethernet usb tethering with my android phone to get a wifi connection. I've tried all the steps given online that I could find but nothing fixed it. When I thought that I fixed Im thinking that my ethernet port just felt like working, this was when I disabled power saving in device manager (which was somehow on in my desktop). I've now purchased a new pcie network card which does light up orange when starting my pc, shortly after switching to a steady green which stays that way. Giving the following notification when a cable is plugged in: I've tried using a bootable kali linux usb stick to see if this was windows related but no luck in there either. D; ;c
