  1. So even with the price difference, I should avoid the HEDT i9s? I've also managed to find a i7-10700k for sale at CEX for £226 (using my current CPU as a part-exchange), which seems like a bargain to me. As I'm going to be using this PC exclusively for gaming (I won't even use it for internet browsing, it will literally just have Steam/Origin/uPlay installed), I'm not sure if I'd benefit from Ryzen. Benchmarks also seem to put the 10700k slightly ahead of the 3950x for gaming?
  2. Budget (including currency): £1000GBP Country: United Kingdom Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Exclusively playing games Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): So I'm looking to upgrade my PC (Ryzen 7 1800x, GTX 1080, 16GB RAM) as I've had a 34" 1440p 120hz ultrawide monitor for a while now but struggle to hit 120fps in games that I play (on ultra). I've already decided on just going all out and getting an RTX 3090 (if I can find stock for one), and I've pretty much got all of my parts (memory, storage, case, PSU), but I'm stuck on the CPU/mobo. From what I can gather, with my budget, I should just grab a 3950x or wait and get a 5950x, and this will leave me ~£300 on a motherboard. But I've found an i9-10920x for £396, and if I factor in a motherboard, I'll still have ~£300 of my £1000 budget remaining that can be reinvested elsewhere. Basically, what I'm asking is, although most people will just point at Ryzen and immediately say no to Intel, have I found myself in an actual scenario where the i9 may be worth it? (I also plan to use this PC exclusively for gaming, as I have a Mac for everything else, so I'm looking to get the most FPS possible).
