My laptop with a mid level core i5, 8gb of ram, and integrated graphics and it will do everything I need in inventor and solidworks just fine. An SSD would be nice since solidworks and inventor are big programs that take a while to open.

For most stuff students do a 750ti is even bit overkill. But my boss can max out his quadro k5000 pretty easily.

Good point. I think we even have a 20v Black and decker battery like that and the charger. I will have to get a beefy 12v regulator, but that shouldn't be too bad. I could pretty easily measure between the terminals and 3D print something it slides into.

Find students that took your classes the previous semester and ask if they still need the book. I sold most of my freshman books to incoming freshman for far less than their value but for a few dollars more than I was offered by the book store. Figured I might as well let someone else buy them for a decent price since the bookstore would just turn around and sell it for 90% of its new cost. My chem book was $250 and no book store would buy it because it came with a code for online software. I sold the book for $15 and gave him a link to the software that cost $35.

It really depends on the car. But I like Blue, Red, Black, Grey, and for some reason Yellow. But they are all on different cars. Like I wouldn't want a yellow truck, but I would love a yellow camaro.

I'm on my phone so pardon my brevity, but we chose to do exclusive releases on a few product launches recently because for two of them we were already late (even the Vessel release) anyway so we figured anyone desperate to know how that product performs can watch or read one of the other 100 reviews of it in the meantime..
And for Fury Nano because (as some hard noticed) we've burned a lot of simulaneous release days lately (something that upsets our vessel viewers who are paying for early access) and our release schedule is SCREWED right now (as some of you have noticed) with some video delayed on YouTube by another week because of show coverage.
That's pretty much all there is to it. There are a limited number of simulaneous release slots we get and we have to decide how to best allocate them.

So I was doing some upgrades on our Makerbot Replicator 2x (do not recommend btw) and walked away fro 30sec to get a temperature gun. I walked back into my office and found the makerbot on fire. I freaked out and ran to the shop and grabbed a fire extinguisher (apparently I ran right past a couple of them on the way) and put the fire out. It turned out that the wrong heating element got turned on for testing. I have no clue how the gantry ended up moving to the end of the makerbot, but the heating element melted itself into the plastic at the end and got hot enough for it to catch on fire. Looking back at it, I probably could have just blown the fire out like a candle. That would have avoided the huge mess created by the fire extinguisher. Luckily everything except the heating element is functional (im not risking using that element).

Oh, btw the left extruder was removed for upgrading and I was in the process of loading filament into the right extruder that was already upgraded. I guess when I upgraded the extruder I put the wrong heating element in it. I should never have walked away from it in the first place.

On the plus side, the office that I share with an engineer (I am an engineering student) is finally clean since we had to wipe everything down. The rest of my upgrade parts and the new heating core will be there next week and I will run it in the shop from now on until we know it is safe. We are not running it without someone in the office anymore and we are putting in smoke detectors. We currently have an older sprinkler system that basically requires the entire desk to be on fire before it does anything.

I know how you feel with that. The CVT in my hybrid is not happy above 80mph and prefers to take a while to get there. But I feel like that is the modified 2.3l inline 4 designed to sacrifice power for efficiency.

Agreed on the 4x4 and other options.

Got a chance to drive my friends silverado over the winter. Some similar stuff to yours, some different but it sure was fun to drive compared to my escape hybrid. I was kinda freaking out because the alternator was broken and he was drunk (why I was driving) blasting music through the trucks speakers. I had no idea what I was gonna do if he killed the battery.

This may be considered a shit post, but I just want to get this rant out of the way.

We have a common hallway with tables, chairs, and couches outside of our dorm room. The people that I guess I sometimes consider my friends are total slobs out there. They constantly leave garbage on the floor and on the tables even though there is a full size trash can like 10ft from the table. Every morning I get up for class when their lazy tired asses are laying in bed after trashing the hallway and I clean it up. Our janitor is a pretty cool guy and he shouldn't have to deal with their shit. Today I almost wrote a note telling them to clean up after themselves or fuck off.

We just got back from seeing the new avengers movie and one of these twats speared his soda cup from taco bell onto a bike rack strapped to someones car. That really set me off and I was so close to throwing a rock at this guy's dick, but nothing good would have come of that.

I guess it comes from my two years as a cart attendant always having to pick up trash in the parking lot and cleaning the restrooms ever hour. People have no respect for their surroundings. Women always complained that the bathroom needed cleaning because they made it dirty. The guy's bathroom rarely actually needed much more than a quick check for toilet paper stock. I love that my college campus is beautiful, and that is one of the reasons I chose to come here for 4 years. But people are always littering and making it look trashy. The school just placed over a hundred new ash pillars around campus including one outside my dorm. But yet I walk outside to find like a hundred cigarette butts on the ground. That kind of makes me glad the campus is going smoke free next year, though I do feel bad for people that smoke and are polite about not blowing it in peoples faces and actually dispose of the butts properly.

I just really needed to let that out.
Rant over. Mods, feel free to delete this or do whatever you please (not like I could stop you anyway)

nerdyrcdriver got a reaction from Pony080905 in I hate my English class
English classes like that are pointless. The author just meant that the curtains were blue, not that it symbolized depression or some shit. In my 8th grade English class I failed the Romeo and Juliet test miserably. I convinced my teacher to let me re take it. I copied the study guide word for word into a notebook until I filled most of the notebook. I re took the test and got a 100%. I don't remember shit about that story other than the basic plot.

    RANT WARNING
In my college English 102 class we have to read these super boring essays that are supposed to teach us about structuring an keeping the reader involved. But they are super boring and nobody ever reads them. Then the teacher will turn around and assign a paper and say, "don't be bored while writing it because I'll be bored grading it. Then the tequila comes out." I have a 10 page paper about extracurricular activities due on Monday and I don't have shit done. If I could write about my experience with extracurricular activities rather than having to do research about how they help or hurt a student's education it would be so much easier.

Core curriculum is generally shit. WTF do we need fine arts classes? There is a problem when your academic adviser describes music understanding as the most tolerable. High school should be core curriculum with room to take specific classes that are interesting and will help you figure out wtf you want to do with your life. College should be major specific.

Sorry for my little rant, but I 100% agree with the OP about English classes.

Depends on the time of year. There could be a cancellation fee involved but it is easy to get waived in those circumstances. If I just wanted to move to a house or something I would have to pay for it.

That has been done with the bathroom doors from our rooms.

I have thought about blocking the electromagnet. I just looked at it again, and there is a label on it specifically saying that it is a closing fire door rated for 1hr before it can be burned through in normal conditions.

    Hey everyone,

I just wanted to write this to clear the air a little bit. I have noticed on many forums that I am a member of I tend to be a thread stopper. I post and then there are no more posts for several days even if the thread was going well beforehand.

I know that I use the word "I" a lot in my posts. I am not trying to be self centered or think that I am better than anyone else here. It's just that I try my best to speak from personal experience and the way that I convey that is through the word "I" or "my experience".

I need to work on rephrasing my posts. Even this thread has ten uses of the word "I" not in quotes before this point.

If anyone had the opinion that I seemed self centered or felt like I was trying to be better than everyone else, I completely understand where you got that idea from and I hope that you understand that I am not trying to be that way.

Any build anywhere near that asking price should have at least a 256gb ssd. Even in builds around $600, it isn't hard to fit in a 120gb ssd for windows and some other programs.

One of my friends broke his femur (the big bone in your upper leg) getting out of a sandbox. Then broke the other one by tripping on the sidewalk as soon as the other one healed.

When I was in 7th grade I was at a skate park on my ripstick. I was doing some pretty cool stuff, but one of the ramps was actually two pushed together and my rear wheel got caught in the crack between them and I fell on my wrist. Somehow it only broke one of the bones in the middle that basically everything moves around to let your thumb move and usually they can't heal it correctly the first time. Somehow it all worked out the first time and I didn't have to have it re broken. It does act up once in a while, but i'm not worried about it.

I remember when I had to take a typing test between middle and high school to determine if I needed a typing class. The lady running it was really old and put me at a computer with a broken keyboard that had a several keys that didn't work and some that stuck down. She wouldn't let me take it on a better keyboard and failed me. I had to start in the class and test out in the first 5 minutes.

I do not recall ever having my blood taken (though I am sure it has been done at some point in my 19 years on this planet). My mom has to have frequent testing done, but her veins are hard to find so she always hopes that she gets the actual doctor or a really good nurse. My younger brother can sit there and watch the nurse stick the needle into his arm and watch the blood go up into the syringe.

As long as they hit your vein the first time you should be good, just like a shot. It might be more sore than a shot afterwards.
