  1. Going from 120 to 140 won't make much of a difference at all, maybe a degree or two at load. The better upgrade would be to a 240 or 280 based unit. Under load you might then shave a few extra degrees off...
  2. New client is more"web" based. You used the web control to start it, which you can then close and use the Advanced View... Not sure if it can be started the old way, will need to test.
  3. Why two double back slashes? Should be d:\program...\fah..." Also, did you update the FAH client? The new client uses the web control to actually start the folding process.
  4. And now they are for me... but was not earlier... so may indicate some other issues...
  5. Maybe, or other issues, as this site http://fah-web.stanford.edu/serverstat.html for the server status isn't coming up.
  6. The 9800GT although technically is on the whitelist, I don't believe wlll get a valid WU anymore. For lower end CPU's, like your Core2Quad, you could also fold using the Chrome app. I find they are quite good as that. For a dedicated standard PC folder, GPU Folding is where it is at. Get a basic CPU and min ram and some decent GPU's...
  7. Technically running programs like this on anyone else's computer other then your own without user permission is frowned upon buy BOINC and FAH communities and in many cases is illegal. That being said... someone obviously knows what they are doing. Are you able to log onto other PC's at work and see if the folder is also there? If it is on yours, most likely then on others. Quick and dirty, ya, delete the folder, then there shouldn't be an executable to run. If the "IT Department" doesn't know what it is, I would maybe take it higher up, let them know someone is loading and running unauthorized software on company hardware.
  8. Exactly - just don't lose mounting hardware. I have had an old Noctua cooler that has survived about 5 systems.
  9. It doesn't - it is more for "show" then performance. Plus, working with the mineral oil is a pain.
  10. Many people don't have the proper equipment or time. As well, @Spotswood has gone through a LOT of trouble making sure all the standoffs are pre drilled in proper locations, GPU brackets work, etc. There is a lot of work going into these designs the average user would not want (or be capable of) to do. I ordered my two units from him and for the price consider it one hell of a deal. Yes, given the proper tools, which I don't have, and the time, thinking weeks at the minimum, I could have done it myself. But that's the trick. The cost for me for the two units would have been a lot more based on tools and wasted material while I figure things out. Plus, I have no doubt mine would not looked half as good as his does.
  11. Please update the pic - not showing. Best bet, use imgur or puush...
  12. I have had many Zotac NVidia cards - experience has been excellent. Even had to RMA a GTX 560 while back, top notch service. My current 780 is a Zotac one...
  13. I am not trying to win - just a fun game
  14. Check the manual for the motherboard, it will list the "Front Header" connections which will detail where on the board you plug those various cables in...
  15. Corsair AF series, Noctua, Gentle Typhoon, SilverStone...
  16. FYI - Spotswood has lots of extra's Slick can order to help some of the issues. On my 4P folding systems, I ordered extra parts and did not have the issues with the PSU mount as I had extra braces and mounts.
  17. $75 ain't a whole lot... just hold them for memory sake
  18. Ya, no... people make mistakes... this was already edited once and links re-added.. so locked now...
  19. Bloody awesome - and one of those is still there!
  20. Some Folding projects will also use less CPU/GPU resources then others, so this may also be the case...
  21. Hazy, remove the flags - you can actually download unstable WU's with the client type set now. They are testing new Core17 projects that sometimes fail or look to work, but you get zero points. Right now, just run with no flags...
