  1. So an update from my end. I bought Cooler Master CK550 V2 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Brown Switches - Rs. 5700, under $100. Quite nice, lesser noise due to the brown switches. Of course, these aren't quiet but fine as a baseline for me. Next time perhaps quiet red switches with DIY Keyboard, which will cost more than double no doubt. Let's see. https://www.coolermaster.com/catalog/peripheral/keyboards/ck550/ Indian site with the best pricing for this keyboard (as of 12th Jan 2022). Amazon.in was showing Rs.2000 more. https://mdcomputers.in/cooler-master-ck550-v2-brown-ck-550-gktm1-us.html
  2. yeah. I realised to really go silent or at least as quiet as membrane, KB customization will be needed. This is a diff enthusiast league. I will first wet my feet with budget one and see how my mind and fingers responds to it. If needed, then full on customize the KB. A friend who's into it says just that and recommends KBs customized with silent reds.
  3. Hi all, Need help in deciding about a Budget Mechanical Keyboard. Here are things I would consider: - I don't want to pay exorbitant prices for a keyboard. I'm looking at below or around 100 dollars. I'm from India, so the challenges of getting one at a good rate are different. - I don't like noisy keypresses, so no Blue switches. Quieter, the better. I hear reds and browns are better. - I type a lot. Regular membrane keyboards last me 1.5 years before they start to become hard. - It needs to be a FULL keyboard with Numpad. I use the Numpad frequently. - I want a wired keyboard. - I type a lot, I game of course but gaming isn't the objective. - RGB lighting isn't important for me. My current strategy: Use cheapo membrane keyboards and change them every 1.5 years. Need your advice on: - How good are these budget Mechanical Keyboards. Would they last well for 3 years? - Are there good membrane keyboards that will last well for 3 years or so? I doubt it though. By lasting well, I mean the keys shouldn't become hard and unusable. Keyboards that caught my eye: GAMDIAS Hermes P2A Full-Size RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with Optical Switches https://amzn.to/3F3bhar Cosmic byte black with Brown switches (The keyboard looks are too flashy for me though) https://amzn.to/3q1up4r Redgear MK881 Invador (It has blue switches though) https://www.amazon.in/Redgear-MK881-Professional-Mechanical-Lightning/dp/B01N0UMPCR/?th=1 Logitech G413 https://amzn.to/3r0nBD8
  4. Hi, Thank you so much. Reseating the proccy worked! I'm amazed that it did. The comp has started mulitple times from cold boot without any issues. Last night I turned it off and switched it on in the morning, 8 hrs have passed. She started up like a charm. Though I'm going to wait and watch for the next few days. So moisture was causing bad connection basically. And the heating technique that I used was somehow helping to get the connection back? From the CPU to mobo? Sounds weird. Or am I getting this wrong?
  5. Hiya, I've added photos as suggested by you. The left side is where the heat is needed I noticed.
  6. I've reseated everything but the CPU. I'll do so and report and get a closeup of the mobo...as in from top without taking it out? Would that help? And thanks for taking the time to respond
  7. On reddit someone says - "It's not unheard of having a bad solder joint in a motherboard that works when the motherboard is heated up first. Just the heat expansion makes the solder joint make contact again.". Looks like Service centre it is for me!
  8. Lol, this happened after I played a video on reddit. Original thread https://www.reddit.com/r/videos/comments/jh85yb/my_pet_rat_is_too_attached_to_let_me_shower_on_my
  9. Lol, hehe dry room. Sounds like a good idea but...I know it is not th PSU as I bought a new one and the same prob. However, Not sure about my conclusions of moisture...Monsoons are gone now, certainly something is screwed with the mobo. Can moisture or something cause perma damage to power part of the PC?
  10. OMG...such a bad name for this event "LTT Official Folding" sounded like LTT is shutting down! Gave me a heat attack, just like Linus does regularly when he drops expensive stuff.
  11. So I built a Ryzen 5 3600 with Asus TUF B450-Plus Gaming mobo, 16GB Corsair RAM for myself in March 2020 right before the lockdowns. I paired it with my old NVIDIA 1060 3GB and SMPS Corsair VS650. Ever since monsoon started here in India, Mumbai, my comp started to act up (rains can get pretty nasty). It just wouldn't start no matter what I did - The fancy LED vanity lights in the mobo would start as soon as power was on - The processor fan wouldn't spin - Pulled out all components, tried one by one - Removed the front panel power, reset switches to check- Even got a new Antec VP550 SMPS thinking that was the problem and nope it just wouldn't start Finally fed up, I thought maybe it is a moisture caused issue, so I actually put my comp out in the sun for 30 mins (as I don't have a hairdryer and vacuum cleaner doesn't help) and voila it worked after that! Lol, Sundried PC...that's got to a first! Now I use a 200W bulb to start the PC! Ridiculous! - Everything works well, in games and I've been running for days without shutdown - Comp restarts fine, as soon as I shut down and wait for 15-20 mins, the comp just doesn't start, no fans spin - Then I started to use a 200W bulb which gives of a lot of heat and keep it at the rear of the PC. (Ensuring it doesn't touch any wires etc as it would melt them). And the PC starts after 30 mins of doing that. So my question, what is the problem? The SMPS is ruled out as I checked with another comp and both SMPS work immediately. It seems to be an Asus B450-Plus Gaming mobo. But I never had this issue initially for a few months. I just updated the BIOS to the latest as ppl mentioned similar issues with BIOS. Nevertheless, after new BIOS install, drivers fully updated of mobo too from Asus website in Oct 2020. No help. My conclusion:-It is a moisture issue with the mobo as heat seems to help it to start. Go to the service centre then I guess. Never had such a weird issue like this. What do you guys think? Mobo page https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/TUF-B450-PLUS-GAMING/ Below, my attempts at reviving and yes it was successful. I just shouldn't ever shut down. Though if lights go, back to the weird technique. The inside of the PC, the mobo (as requested). Left side of the mobo is where heat is needed I noticed to start.
