  1. One other suggestion I just remembered, I used to use a Windows slideshow to cycle between a few different backgrounds, and this was causing a stutter every time the background changed. I think it has something to do with Windows using the GPU to do the fade between backgrounds, and it doesn't have a direct fix in Windows. This only applies if you also have a slideshow background, but I figured it was worth posting just in case
  2. It's possible that a 2x2 link would improve things, but depending on how the outlets in your house are wired (and especially in older houses), speeds can take a big dive vs plugging directly into the router.
  3. I managed to recover my PC last night by booting off of a Windows 10 bootable thumb drive and using WinRE to run repairs. I followed the steps in this guide: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-server/performance/use-winre-to-troubleshoot-startup-issue (for me it was drive C: not D:) and sfc found some corrupted files in Windows after running for close to 2 hours. Thanks for the replies, I would never have looked further into WinRE and sfc if not for the suggestions. You've saved me a lot of time and money by avoiding a clean install! Cheers!
  4. I pretty much tore apart my entire PC, reset CMOS, reset BIOS, reseated CPU and GPU, and a few other things but no luck there (unfortunately this took almost 2 hours lol). When I was in the WINRE cmd prompt I had to type just "C:" instead of "cd C:" to switch to my system disk. After running those commands and restarting to boot on my system drive, my PC remains stuck on the Windows loading screen. I tried to look online for other solutions and couldn't find anything else to try. Do you have any other ideas?
  5. I had a similar problem with my setup (Ryzen 5 3600 + Radeon RX5700 XT). There's a "fast boot" setting in Windows which speeds up boot times by loading fewer processes at boot and the rest later. If you are booting off an SSD though it hardly speeds things up. The loading of processes later was causing stutters, so I turned it off in Windows and in my BIOS (since the setting exists in 2 places) and it resolved my troubles. I doubt the stuttering is RAM related since 32GB is plenty, but 6GB of VRAM could maybe cause SSD problems from having to load data from storage more frequently, since most games use at least that amount (if not more) now. Not saying this is fact, just my best guess!
  6. Hey, I have an AV500 and an AV1000 and I get 150MBp/s on both. I get 300MBp/s over wifi on the same pc. I think the limitation is more to do with house wiring than anything else.
  7. Hi all, I bought a new kit of 2 × 16gb kit of memory to upgrade from my previous 2 × 8gb kit. I turned off my PC (but not my PSU) and slotted in the new kit. BIOS detected it alright and I changed the appropriate settings but when I left BIOS and rebooted, Windows got stuck on the "Diagnosing your PC" screen. I tried using a single stick, using the other channel, flashing my bios, and booting without DOCP, but the problem persists. To make things worse I slotted in my old working kit and now it has the same problem as well. Specs are: New kit - 2 × 16GB 3600mHz Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro SL Old kit - 2 × 8GB 3200mHz Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro Ryzen 5 3600 ASUS ROG B550i Gaming Any ideas on what to do now? Cheers
  8. I have the Phanteks P600S with the front fan cover removed, and 4 Corsair LL120 fans - 3 pulling air in from the front and 1 exhausting out the back. See picture below. Also I believe my ambient room temperature is around 21°C. Should I be at all concerned about the longevity of my processor if it is always running above 60°C?
  9. Hi all, I run a Ryzen 5 3600 with the stock cooler on an Asus Prime X470 Pro, and after upgrading to the most recent chipset release (2.13.27.501) I seem to be running hotter than before. I checked temps in Ryzen Master, and got idle readings around 65°C (no other programs running) and game temps in excess of 75°C. I have ensured a good thermal paste application, that my cooler is tightened as much as possible, and that my PC has adequate cooling. I tried setting an "undervolt" in bios using PBO by setting the PPT to 70 (down from 88 stock), but the change doesn't seem to register in Ryzen Master. Side note: There appears to be 2 settings for PBO in bios - not sure if this is specific to Asus or not but I don't know which one to change/which one works. I've read of people having idle temps in the 30s WITH the Ryzen 5 3600 stock cooler and I can't seem to get anywhere near that. What gives? Any suggestions on how to lower temps with bios tweaks, Ryzen Master tweaks, etc? Thanks in advance
  10. Hello, Ever since I built my PC I have noticed brief freezes or microstutter in pretty much every game I play. I have tried a wide variety of remedies, including turning off Windows game mode, adjusting GPU settings in Radeon Software, adjusting in-game settings, reinstalling drivers, and more. Nothing really seems to help or worsen the issue, and I cannot even figure out whether the issue is GPU related or some other component in my system. System specs: Ryzen 5 3600 (stock speed and stock cooler) RX 5700XT Gigabyte Gaming OC (boost 2050MHz @ 1150V and VRAM at 1850MHz) ASUS Prime X470 Pro 2 x 8gb Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro DDR4-3200 I would really appreciate any help anyone could give. Cheers, Audity
