This happens, whenever I fix something for someone for free. A few weeks later, heck a month later they be all like "Remember when you fixed my laptop from shutting down all the time, I think you broke it because now my programs just delete itself".
Or when someone asks me why the internet is slow. I go to explain it, it is as if I put them into a deep sleep of no return.

Non-techies can't be that bad. I mean they do gives us some humour every once in a while. You gotta enjoy the ones who provide you with a classic expression, non other than "-_-".

I tried calling tech support once for an area outage relating to broadband (I should just stop here).

As I knew the standard procedure to verify connection to the internet, I did as he said to just get it out of the way so he can organise a techie to check the premises. (restart computer/router etc)

I knew what the problem was (local switch playing up), and I know telling him won't get me anywhere, I just wanted him to log that I, along with my neighbours had connection issues.

So he asked me to check if I could go on google, I said I tried a "ping", which is the same thing, I was already on cmd checking trace route and so on so couldn't be bothered going to a broswer.

He said ok, does it work.

    I said the ping failed.

He said I don't know what that is, bye.

    ....wtfudge just happened.

If people are using the internet while you are using it and you do not have port forwarding and QoS set up you will continue to experience this frustrating problem.

I know your feels, and then you fix it and two months later get a call from a relative with them yelling at you that you broke it

Or you become free tech support forever
