  1. Job well done, absolutely marvelous indeed.
  2. I use hibernation, as often as I can. But rarely ever shutdown.
  3. On my second PC build, I tried to turn it on for the first time after completing the build (I did not test the parts before I installed them) and it would not turn on. When checking why, it was because I put the HD audio cable to the motherboard USB front header. It took me a week to figure that out. I also used a laptop 2.5" HDD as the main drive to save costs......the drive was 80GB and this was 3 years ago. Yep just leave me and my shame for now.
  4. Used rack unit cabinets, so many sizes to choose from and the used price is ridiculously cheap, all you probably have to do is repaint it to your desired colour, install shelfs (super easy considering the holes have been done for you), the customization with these things plus bonus you get from how cheap they are is a no brainer for super PC builds. I did build my own 1000mm(H)x300mm(W)x300mm(D) in progress at the moment out of wood. I did not want to get a used rack unit cabinet because of the weight.
  5. Non-techies can't be that bad. I mean they do gives us some humour every once in a while. You gotta enjoy the ones who provide you with a classic expression, non other than "-_-".
  6. I suggest you tell your ISP about this. Make sure your friends do this also so they know more than one person inthe area is experiencing this issue. Once multiple people start complaing it becomes a high priority and it will get sorted.
  7. I tried calling tech support once for an area outage relating to broadband (I should just stop here). As I knew the standard procedure to verify connection to the internet, I did as he said to just get it out of the way so he can organise a techie to check the premises. (restart computer/router etc) I knew what the problem was (local switch playing up), and I know telling him won't get me anywhere, I just wanted him to log that I, along with my neighbours had connection issues. So he asked me to check if I could go on google, I said I tried a "ping", which is the same thing, I was already on cmd checking trace route and so on so couldn't be bothered going to a broswer. He said ok, does it work. I said the ping failed. He said I don't know what that is, bye. ....wtfudge just happened.
  8. This may sound odd, but does your neighbour have this problem? Usually the local switch that connects customers which is owned by your ISP can play up causing minor outages to multiple people in your area for a while then come back online unnoticed. (this is a joke) your ISP might be saving on tranmission costs haha. Try another device in the home that uses your internet, does it play up? Is it just your computer?
  9. I can safely say ASUS would probably suit your needs as for price and performance. Have a look at the Asus F550DP-XX055H Laptop ($1500 AUD) or Asus F550DP-XX008H Laptop ($1000 AUD), I think you would be using Euros so they should be both under 1000 Euros. Asus F550DP-XX008H Laptop * AMD A8 quad core * 8GB Ram * 750HDD * 1366x768 * Dedicated Radeon HD 7470 GPU (for the price it is pretty good) The more expensive version has a higher grade CPU, double the ram, 1TB HDD and a faster GPU. Hope I have helped.
  10. As long as its not a pattern, and you know for that particular day you have very little workload, and you know you work really hard and you rarely get sick. Then It should be fine. Usually a sick day is defined as a day you are "not feeling well". If you wanted a day off to get things together than I guess it counts for not felling well.
  11. This happens, whenever I fix something for someone for free. A few weeks later, heck a month later they be all like "Remember when you fixed my laptop from shutting down all the time, I think you broke it because now my programs just delete itself". Or when someone asks me why the internet is slow. I go to explain it, it is as if I put them into a deep sleep of no return.
  12. Nice, I can see the effort is paying off. Hope it works well. I can't wait to see the final finish.
  13. For my case I used rivets for an industrial look. Except If I could go back I would use a strong adhesion.
  14. Although the NBN idea is great, and is working for some. It's implementation should have been looked at many times before commencment. Why? For the simple fact that they now realise it is costing them too much money during build. They should have tried and incorperate the existing HFC (Hybrid Fibre Coaxial) network, which produces the same rates as NBN's fibre, there by reducing fibre costs substantially. The bang to buck ratio is not there with the NBN network. More engineering should have gone into this, it just feels rushed to me.
  15. "NBN Co's wholesale customers - internet service providers - will be able to order the new product from December." Like I said, backbone needs to be built first and the current products need to be upgraded (Like cards for Sub rack equipment). Wholesalers need time to prepare for the 1gbps speed. We won't see if for a while, regardless of what the article says. Your NBN home equipment may support it, but the backbone does not as of yet. Rather, read this article. http://www.smh.com.au/it-pro/government-it/nbn-customers-set-for-worldleading-download-speeds-to-happen-by-end-of-the-year-20130418-2i32b.html "But most people would not see the true benefit of 1Gbps for another 10 years" The reason is, data is divided due to bandwidth, your area may have 1gbps, but your home is different other wise.
