But that is just me.
Speakers can give bigger impact and experience.
And also the same reason as the guy above nothing weighting down on my head, no ear warmers, don't worry about cable mass.
Just kick back, relax and flow with the speakers.
However i do use headphone while watching movies pass 3am. Would't want to wake up my family as they are light sleepers.

Skylake is only marginally faster than Haswell but quite a bit more expensive. And in terms of rendering Haswell-E's Hexa-core is FAR better than a Skylake quad core, and in terms of gaming performance a 6700k will only be a bit (an irrelevant amount) faster. 

Just get 980ti SLI now, no point waiting. 
By the time pascal is out for 4k gaming somewhere 2016 Q4 -  2017 Q1, Something else would replace it within a year and I've notice that in every 6-8 months there is always TI upgrade model.
You won't be missing out much if you lack patience and won't gaining much if you can wait.

Every new version of Windows, you have these reviewers, to get clicks, makes these stupid day 1 benchmark, which always shows the same things: Same or lower performance in gaming. People can't even get their system working properly with the latest Nvidia and AMD (Intel also included to the party) drivers, yet here we go.
Based on these early benchmark, getting Windows XP will be a MASSIVE performance boost over Windows 8/10. Yet is it true? Of course not. We see it, we experience it. There is no doubt about it.
Oh and the benchamrk is poorly done. It only look at the 980Ti. How about lower end cards?
How about AMD?

Hold on to your 290x CF, you would not gain anything much getting a single 980ti and AMD is still optimizing drivers for 290x has proven in 15.7 drivers,
And since the 390x has the same core as 290x whatever optimization done to 390x, it will carry it to 290x as well.
