  1. Considering its not another WM or BO I'll give it the benefit of the doubt til reviews are out. Then I'll probably doubt...
  2. Yeah fair enough. Though it still gets the name out there all the same, whether people take it to heart and take the initiative to do something about it is up to them. There's obviously more effective ways of doing it but I don't necessarily see a bunch of Facebook likes (even though the achieve anything directly) as a negative thing.
  3. Good news then haha. Nice to see people are picking up on the fact that Apple isn't the be all and end all. Though I can never really take these OS market share numbers too seriously, simply because of the shear number of devices that run Android makes it more likely there's an Android phone/tablet that suits a particular persons needs. Or at least it's getting that way.
  4. Jeezz that's going a bit far. They need to sort out the penalties for cyber crimes. There's a guy here in Aus facing a min of 12yr (obviously he won't get that long of a sentence) for 2 counts of unauthorized modification of data and 1 count of accessing a restricted computer. Where a couple of months ago a group of police tasered a man, who had had a bad reaction to LSD, ~12 times (mostly while he was cuffed) and ended up killing him, though I've heard nothing of it since. Surely if you can suggest that someone be locked away for up to 12years for accessing/modifying some documents then similar action should be taken in causing the death (yes, possibly the inquiry hasn't finished yet) of an already restrained man (whether that's through poor training or whatever, though you'd think common sense would prevail). Simply the sentences handed down to relatively harmless (i know not all it) cyber crime is just blown out of proportion. And you hear the ludacris fines people are getting for downloading an album, I mean If I went to a record store and stole a CD or movie and got caught chances are they're just going to tell me off and to put it back, the odd time police may get involved and it'll end up being a slap on the wrist. So why is online content (which essentially is an inferior product anyway in terms of quality - with hard copies giving you ability for rip FLAC or watch in 1080p) deem so much more precious? gee, getting on the rants this morning...
  5. It's kinda fun to watch how the mobo manufactures are going about differentiating themselves. With the movement of the VRM on the chip I've heard that lower end boards will OC just as well (or very competitively) with the $300 dollar things (please correct me if I'm wrong). They seem to be running short on ideas to separate themselves, kinda of inevitable with the apparent push to SOC/cloud computing, etc. It seems with the higher/enthusiast type mobos the only real thing to do now is make them look crisp. In my book, the Hybrid Thermal solutions & equivalents (see Asus maximus v, Asrock OC, the new Gigabyte sniper z87 atx board (not to mention the 30-40mm fans on the heatsink)) don't help. I mean, if you want to water cool, get custom blocks, and for the vast majority that WC these Mobos they will be getting the after mark blocks. For the vast majority that aren't using motherboard block for water cooling it just ruins the aesthetics of the board, built in threads for G1/4 fittings though would of made it multitudes better for everyobe. Or maybe it's just that I'm being a bit OCD about the whole thing hahah. In reality most people that buy a PC couldn't give a rats about what their mobo looks like or most of its features. But these are the higher end mobos, where looks & features defiantly account for something. Gee, went a bit off topic. /end rant
  6. Despite it being a no name, obviously lesser build quality, circuitry and probably panel quality it makes you wonder how the bigger names are charging $5000 odd for their 4k TVs. I mean Korean IPS (A-) panels vs Dell/Asus/Samsung IPS/PLS panels are somewhat analogous to this (am i right?) And they're like half price to the big name sellers. Lets hope this bring the price of the bigger brands down a bit. I reckon give it 5 years and they will be similarly priced to todays 55-60inch 1080 TVs, and lets hope they're real 120hz too... Yeah might be dreaming a bit
  7. Theses are always good tools for the newcomers so it's good so Gigabyte taking it up. As long as they tone down the required Vcore (or whatever Haswell calls it) per clock a little it should be (relatively) sweet. And considered the (rumoured) overclocking ease of Haswell it may well work better than the 1155 implementations. I just have to hope that BIOS/UEFI fiddling is still the *real* way to go for a while now (ie these software implementations aren't so refined they produce similar results). It's just more fun that way.
  8. Wish this case was around when I was in the market. Would of snapped it up. I've found myself more and more wanting to build a beast in a relatively small form factor, most of the bottom half of by mobo is waste anyway. And I can only see them getting smaller. Only gripe with the design is the window showing the drive bays.
  9. Correct me if I'm wrong but I though the iGPU essentially powered QuickSync to massively reduce video encoding times? But yeah, it's use in games with Virtu is a bit hit and miss.
  10. Flashy, different. System monitoring on 1 screen is a big plus. Might take a bit of getting used to, though I hope the other manufactures go a similar route.
  11. All well and good, but I still want to see them competing clock for clock with Intel (being an enthusiast). Though this other tech looks promising considering the general move away from desktops.
  12. Maybe hold out a little, see how the new cards stack up. Plus the 600 series cards *should* drop in price after the 700 release (if you can still find them, they seem to disappear quick after the new generation pops up).
  13. Yeah, you'd hope so. They shouldn't be releasing the flagship at $700-800 range. But you never know, is GK110 i suppose.
  14. Haha somehow I just don't see that as the target audience
  15. A few guys I used to know managed to get Admin rights to my old higher school computer system. Could access everything, student files, marks, etc, etc, you name it. Gain full Admin rights as well It wasn't too much of task for them either. Turns out the password was just the name of a certain animated movie character and the school didn't even bother changing it after they found them out. None of them got in any trouble over it either... The school only got found out because they sent some sensitive info to the wrong printer.. lol talk about a rookie mistake. Not condoning this, obviously it was the wrong thing to do. I just think they wanted to know how far they could get into the system
  16. TBH if I had the option of PCIe or a SATA SSD, assuming similar price (that won't happen), performance (well it should be faster) and everything runs smoothly, I'd go for the PCIe. Too bad these are using Sandforce controllers though.
  17. Apart from the ugly caps it's a quite nice looking board. Though in saying that most of the dragon will be covered up buy a graphics card...
  18. Yeah it may seem pretty obvious that likes don't attribute anything, but in saying that those that are tricked into it are at least spreading awareness.
  19. Only the very first part of the PCIe slot supplies power, so power draw isn't an issue. In short, it'll work fine but there will probably be some performance loss.
  20. Needs to be close to the CPU to reduce latency, it's just the optimal position really. CPU coolers come 2nd & can be designed around the RAM anyway.
  21. The H110 will fit fine with no modding. Both have 20mm spacing.
  22. Had this problem on W7, just had to set GTA SA compatibility mode to Windows 98/ME
  23. From my experience they might not have the best features or software or OC that well, etc but they tend to just work. So for most people they are a good cheaper alternative
  24. Because I was a console person from a kid up until a couple of years ago. Started out with N64 and just kept with the consoles out of habit I guess. They're still fun to play despite their sub par performance, doubt buy one of the upcoming ones though.
