aeterna789 reacted to Dukesilver27- in Do I need exhast fans for my build?
Why not move one of the intake fans to be exhaust? You only need 1 intake 1 exhaust for this build.
It's not going to be hot enough that it needs great airflow, just decent enough airflow.

Woah, woah. Take it easy there. It was just a joke. The wallpapers probably make for interesting conversation whenever someone walks into the room.

Spent a lot of time finding the right balance to upgrade and get similar performance the 5600X almost makes the 5700XT up to the 3070ti FPS
Mine - AMD Ryzen 5 3600, RTX 3070ti
Hers - AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, 5700XT
Made the table top myself 🙂

Agreed.
Start with the 'simple' things first. A dodgy power button is a simple workaround.
Disconnect the front panel PWR, and press the MB power button (if available) or short the power on pins. If it works fine every time then the power button is faulty.
If it continues acting up then cheapest option to swap out 1st would be PSU.
But make sure u've checked everything else first, like re-seating all the PSU power cables in the MB and GPU, using 2 separate power leads for the GPU instead of the daisy chained single lead etc.
Dying PSU's can cause all sorts of problems many of which are also symptoms of other possible issues making it a PITA to pin down. I had to deal with this recently myself (system crashes). While the recommended is 750w, a system like urs in typical gaming scenarios likely hits up to 550W, so it 'should ' be ok. Its whether or not there are any spikes on start up and if the PSU is indeed dying.

Are you overclocking at all? What are your temperatures and utilizations in games?
-
aeterna789 got a reaction from CommanderAlex in Should I upgrade my CPU?
Assuming you have a good cooling solution and enough power headroom left in your PSU, you should try overclocking your 8700K. It's definitely gonna keep your current CPU going for another couple of years.

aeterna789 reacted to Letgomyleghoe in Incredibly disappointed with LTT shirt fabric
thin material has little to nothing to do with how long it will last, I have a work shirt that I was given when doing a construction job during 110F heat, it has since lasted me three years working on various projects, forging, and day to day use (its soft and cool.)

aeterna789 reacted to Mateyyy in Nvidia 3000 cards and PSU confusion
Didn't get around to watching it yet but I assume the discussion stemmed from Seasonic's recommendation of 850W.
If the 3090 was to pull 400W, you could still have zero problems with a 650W unit. Wattage recommendations from manufacturers are usually overkill anyway (mostly to account for people using really crappy PSUs), but if I had to guess, part of the reason why they'd recommend 850W is the fact that the 3090 doesn't exactly look like a gaming GPU, but rather more of a Titan replacement, so it being paired with an HEDT CPU could be a very possible scenario.
Say for example you pair the 3090 (which again let's assume it'll pull 400W) with something like a Threadripper 3970X - there's another 275-300W of power draw. Add in the rest of the components in the system (which really doesn't equate to a whole lot of watts) and some headroom (because people love that word) and 850W sounds about right.

aeterna789 got a reaction from Shreyas1 in Is a GTX 1070 enough for 1440p 144hz 32inch ?
I can confirm this. I'm personally using a 27" 1440p 144hz monitor and a GTX1070 GPU. Most modern games does not come close to hitting 144 fps at Ultra settings but has no problem maintaining 60+ fps (depending on the game). I would assume you'll have a relatively similar experience with a 32" monitor.

aeterna789 reacted to NelizMastr in Need advice on storing my old PC components
Yeah, this is fine. You can't lose your RAM this way, and the CPU socket is protected by the CPU itself.
