  1. So if we would buy now we should go for a 11400 and a b560 but all of you are saying we should be better of waiting a month or so. I'll ask her what she wants to do tomorrow. What do you guys think of this as a 'buy now build'? Am I forgetting something or should I be all set with the already bought case and the components we're stealing from my computer?
  2. Hi, My 15 year old daughter her computer is acting up and it's probably fixable but she would like to build her first pc so this seems like a great excuse to upgrade. I don't game much anymore so she's getting my GPU and PSU, the case will be a Christmas gift from her aunt but the rest will be bought with her own money. 1. Budget & Location She has €500 on her account and she's willing to spend it all. I would like it if she would still have some money left afterwards but also believe in buy once - cry once. If we have to spend it all so she doesn't have to upgrade for a very long time then that would be fine. We live in the Netherlands. 2. Aim She's a Minecraft junkie, she loves to play online with her friends. I might be able to tempt her to play some other games like Tomb Raider in the future, I think she'll really like it but whatever dad suggest isn't cool of course... (Even though I was the one that introduced her to Minecraft, she has seem to forgotten that part...) She'll also use it for school, maybe some messing around with OBS and a green screen because she said she wanted to record a fly over with commentary of their Minecraft world before they start a new world in the latest Minecraft version. 3. Monitors She'll probably use 2 monitors the majority of the time but a tv will also be connected. All 3 are 1080p. 4. Peripherals She's getting a gaming keyboard and new (second hand) monitors for Christmas so no peripherals needed. 5. Why are you upgrading? It's probably a faulty connection on the SSD but like I said, it's a great excuse to upgrade and have her build her first PC. 6. What we already have: Her aunt bought her a case: Cooler Master Masterbox Q300L She's getting my GPU: Radeon RX 580 And my PSU: Cooler Master MWE Bronzen 550 I would love your help selecting a motherboard, CPU, RAM, SSD, cooler, fans, cables etc. It would also be my first full build (I have only replaced stuff up till now, never build from scratch) so please feel free to add stuff if I'm forgetting something. Thank you very much in advance from the both of us.
  3. It's not so easy to get to with how everything is set up so I'm going by memory here. I believe it's a Cooler Master MWE 750. Regarding your last remark, why would older i7's not be good enough? If they're good enough to play current games than that's enough I would reckon. Would there be a different reason other than future proofing to go for something higher end than older i7's? So try to find a second hand motherboard and cpu on the cheap and spent the rest on memory, check. (GPU choice was decided on price and availability, that part is luckily working just fine.) I'm definitely going second hand. You suggested a Dell Optiplex, would the 7010 model with an i7-3770 with 8GB of ram (in I believe 2 sticks) for around €150 - €170 be a good deal? Or would that at least be the right direction to search in, a quadcore 3.something ghz CPU with DDR3 ram? (And the dog is even cuter than he looks here! But of course all dog owners would say that...)
  4. My first time posting on the LTT forum, I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little bit nervous... As a long time watcher of LTT I decided earlier this year that I wanted a PC to play some games every now and again. I bought a used Fujitsu ESPRIMO P2760, a used Radeon RX580 and bought a new power supply because the original one didn't have a connector for the GPU. It's being well enough so far, I've notice little to no issues with GTA V but did have some light stuttering playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Earlier this week I tried Watch Dogs 2 (because free in the Epic Store) and when driving it just freezes for a second sometimes. Now I'm not expecting to get top notch performance with my budget build. I would like it to look pretty but it's more important to me that it runs without stuttering. I've paid €100 for the computer, €100 for the GPU, €75 for the power supply so this thing has cost me €275. So here's the question I've been leading up to: What would be the best upgrade? The CPU's the issue (according to Radeon Software) but would that be cost effective to upgrade or should I buy another used machine with a better CPU and try to sell this one? This are the specs of my computer: Motherboard Fujitsu Esprimo P2760 Socket 1156 (Micro ATX) Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU 650 @ 3.20GHz, 3201 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s) RAM 8GB (4x2GB) 1666 MHz GPU Sapphire Pulse AMD Radeon RX 580 4GB OC Edition Storage 120GB SSD + 500GB HDD Power supply I forgot what I bought exactly but that one's good And some extra info: Location The Netherlands Budget Around €100 - €150 (€100 if I have to pay it all, €150 if I can reclaim some of those costs by selling my old machine) Aim Update my current setup as it's lacking in some games like Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Monitors 3 connected but only 1 in use during games (either TV or monitor), 2 for office use (2 monitors) Peripherals All set in that department. I've got a decent enough mechanical keyboard, mouse and a Xbox One controller for couch gaming. Your help (and even your time if you made is this far) is very much appreciated! I've attached a picture of my dog as a thank you gift.
