  1. Gday Guys, sorry for the late reply. Spent most of last night trying to fix this and then i was away today. At any rate its all fixed. Ended up wiping all traces of GPU drivers from the OS install and after a couple of boots (who knows why) the card finally booted. One annoying thing thou, only the older drivers provided with the card worked. the new catalyst drivers failed to install, and after 5 times trying i gave in, went and got an external cd drive (who has internal ones anyway) and installed the provided drivers. Everything is working sweet. Thankyou for the help! Cheers
  2. Gday Guys, System: CPU: i5 4670k Ram: 8gb PSU: 800w Coolermaster 80plus gold HDD: 256gb SSD GPU: 280x/wants to be a 390x OS: windows 8.1 Just bought a new Asus r9 390x direct CUII. Pulled out my old asus 280x, popped the 390x in and booted up windows. First boot went fine. I decided to un-install my old drivers and re-install the new ones. Un-installed the catalyst software and then the screens went blank. Waited a few minutes and nothing. Re-booted the pc and it would only boot up to the windows login screen then flicker black and nothing. tried running safe mode and installing the new drivers but Catalyst software wouldnt/couldnt detect the 390x and installation failed. tried running safe mode and installing the new drivers there using on board graphics. still same issue as above point. tried installing graphics drivers using a different card i have in normal windows, still get the same boot issues. finally i have given up, put my old 280x back in and machine is working fine. Would i be right to assume to card is a DOA? One last question thou. I do have a MSI Afterburner OC profile running for the 280x, could this possible cause the issue im having? Cheers
  3. Hmmmmm might have to look into that. i want to de-lid my i5 as my temps, although quiet reasonable, are all over the place at times.
  4. Interesting. Well i might give it a go, see how it fairs.
  5. Yeah i was thinking of giving it a go. I unfortunately don't have a spare mobo with that socket at the moment thou. Is it likely to fry everything if i try it in my current rig?
  6. ive looked at the vice method myself (havent tried it) but it seems alot more brutal and seems like it could cause way more issues.
  7. yeah i have poked around on the net a little and it seems people have fixed stuff like this before. I might give it a try one weekend see how it goes.
  8. Yeah looks like it. unfortunately i don't know who did it , i just found it in a pile of junk i was sorting out the other day. But ill be sure to laugh at who ever did do it.
  9. Gday Guys, So i have come across a de-lidded i7-4770 at work that seems to have been damaged in the process. I'm just wondering if its fixable or even usable in its current state. Please see attached picture. Just out of curiosity what do those little caps do anyway? Cheers
  10. I don't actually think you need to complete TW2 too be able to enjoy TW3. Some parts of it will be a bit more exciting i suppose as they will tie into stuff that happened in TW2, but all in all i don't think its necessarily. I would say complete TW2 thou, as in the time it takes TW3 might have a fix for some of the small bugs that are stopping it from being an extraordinarily enjoyable play. Right now its just a good play, as a few things completely break my immersion. Cheers
  11. I just want to confirm. If i have a 144hz monitor but im only playing witcher 3 at 45-60 FPS, will i notice a difference over a 60hz monitor? Cheers
  12. Haha yeah maybe, well fingers crossed they don't over do it
  13. I haven't been this excited for a game since Starcraft 2. However i did notice that it seemed overly windy all through that vid. I seriously hope that its not going to be that windy all the time. I find it very immersion breaking when shit is just flying around all the time.
  14. Haha no no thats not my connection speed, i meant that it would sit at say 700-750KB/s thus fluctuating that 50KB/s
  15. (Edited - to reflect my edited and intended original post, again sorry for the duplicate posts/spam) Notice: I am extremely bad with networking and have only a very limited knowledge of it. I Also live in Australia, the land of the great shitty INTERNET (this maybe the cause) I ask the questions below, because this is only a recent event. Before a few weeks ago, i didn't really have any issues. I have already replaced my router (it was only anyway so i really needed a new one) Gday Guys, So i have noticed i can no longer stream twitch/Vimeo/Youtube (watching the stream) without lag. I downloaded Netlimiter 4 and it shows my DL Rate for my web browser (opera) going from one extreme to another, it never seems to sit at a constant rate when I'm trying to stream something, thus (i assume) i keep getting a laggy stream. However if i download something (like a torrent or file) my connection is generally pretty good and steady. It will fluctuate between 10-50 KB/s but nothing drastic. As stated above, this wasn't an issue a few weeks/month ago. I have only started to notice the decline in the ability to stream lately. I have looked into IP address blocking that apparently helped for twitch a year or so ago, but that didn't seem to work. I also have no idea why IP Address blocking would work or how, i just googled and followed dem posts like a sheep. I have also tried an app called LiveStreamer that works in conjunction with VLC, and apparently is meant to fix laggy streams INSTANTLY! but this also has the same issue as streaming directly through my browser. At any rate, is there anything i can do on my end to get a better, steadier stream........................yeah that sounded right. Can i change something in my router mayhap? install something? Wave my wand or sacrifice a lamb to Gabe Newell? Anyway thankyou in advance. Cheers
