I need help selecting an infrared LED to use with my raspberry pi night vision system. I have had a hard time finding a good IR light source but Digikey looks promising. Their LEDs are listed by radiant intensity or mW/sr (milliwatt per steradians). My performance constraints are that I want the LED to emit a +-45 degree angle beam of infrared light so my camera can see at +-30 feet. The power source for the LED, raspberry pi 3B plus, official 7" touch display, NoIR Camera, and LED is a 12V Duracell DURDC12-5F deep cycle AGM battery. I have a DROK voltage converter to take the 12V down to 5V for the PI and it's equipment. I will likely need another voltage converter for the LED because to my surprise there are few 12V options on Digikey that fit my needs. I have an engineering background but am not very knowledgeable with electrical things. I am not afraid of math so hit me.
Does anyone know of some other places to get a single powerful IR LED that emits 940nm IR light (I tried Amazon, they don't have many good options)?
How do I convert from mW/sr to another unit like lumens or lux?
How many lux do I need to see at 30 feet, or is this information only attainable with testing my particular camera?
