  1. Update: did some more research of my own and decided 3200 MHz is enough. Thank you for giving me a place to start my research with the QVL list!
  2. Would it be fine if I just bought 3200 ram or would you recommend 3600? I'm going to be running the new ryzen 5 5600x.
  3. Is there anything extra I need to do for xmp or is it just plug and play?
  4. Hey guys, I've been working on making and buying a list for a pc build, and I've bought everything but mobo and ram. Currently on my list is a Gigabyte B550 Gaming X and some 2*8 3600 ram. I just wanted to double check, does my mobo support 3600 ram without overclocking?
  5. Thanks for the advice everyone. I'm planning on waiting for black Friday or cyber Monday to buy all the expensive parts, so by then hopefully there will be some better metrics. Then i'll likely come back to check my suspicions.
  6. I'm currently planning on building this system: PCPartPicker Part List Type Item Price CPU AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor $199.99 @ Best Buy CPU Cooler ARCTIC Freezer 34 eSports DUO CPU Cooler $49.99 @ Amazon Motherboard Gigabyte B550 GAMING X ATX AM4 Motherboard $139.99 @ Amazon Memory Crucial Ballistix 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory $74.99 @ B&H Storage Crucial P1 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive $104.99 @ Adorama Video Card Gigabyte Radeon RX 5700 XT 8 GB GAMING OC Video Card Case Fractal Design Meshify C ATX Mid Tower Case $88.99 @ Newegg Power Supply Antec NeoECO Gold ZEN 600 W 80+ Gold Certified ATX Power Supply $79.98 @ Amazon Custom Ziyituod WiFi 6 Card, AX2974Mbps Wireless Adapter, 802.11ax PCIe WiFi Card with Bluetoth5.0, 2X2 Dual-Band(2.4GHZ 574Mbps + 5GHZ 2400Mbps) for Desktop, Support Windows 10 64bit,Chrome OS and $29.99 @ Amazon Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total $768.91 Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-10-24 12:33 EDT-0400 I've bought everything I need except for the gpu, cpu, motherboard, and ram. I just managed to upgrade my budget by a couple hundred bucks, and I think I'm going to upgrade to a 5600x for the cpu and switch the gpu over to a 3070 founders. Will the psu be able to pull the weight of the system, or should I buy a new one? (I've already purchased the psu in the list) If the current psu isn't enough, what good for the money psu would you recommend?
  7. I've been planning for a new computer for a few months. Would it be worth the extra 100 bucks to upgrade from a 3600 to a 5600x? my current budget is between 1200 and 1300 USD.
  8. Great, thanks! I was just planning for a computer that I plan to buy within the next couple weeks/months and PC Part Picker tossed me an error code saying it may need an adapter. I'll just make sure to buy a model that mentions the adapter specifically just to be safe.
  9. Hi, does a ARCTIC Freezer 34 eSports DUO CPU Cooler need an adapter when connecting to a Gigabyte B550 GAMING X ATX AM4 Motherboard? If so, where would I be able to find one?
  10. Very nice. Thanks for all of you guy's help, but one last question: What would I need for a mounting adapter to get the cooler on the motherboard?
  11. Alrighty. PCpart picker says it'll likely need an adapter, but I'm really not sure where to look. I'm also feeling a bit lost when it comes to wireless networking. I can't really get Ethernet all the way from my router to where the pc will be living.
  12. Could I afford to get one of these for cooling? https://pcpartpicker.com/product/hmtCmG/cooler-master-cpu-cooler-rr212e20pkr2
  13. Oh yeah I'm dumb. I guess that the single 1 tb SSD should work.
  14. I do like the list, But i would likely want a 500 Gb SSD to store windows and bios (just to give room to expand) then a HHD for games and schoolwork files. Any parts you would reccomend?
  15. Can I ask why? I really want to learn more about planning computers, so I feel like walking through how I can either fix it or go about creating a better list. I want to know my system and why all the parts were chosen so that I can upgrade it in the future.
