  1. I have never bought a graphics card before (a buddy always gave me his old parts when he upgraded) and been looking at some reviews, just kinda worried I'll make a wrong choice so would like some help. The 1 card I'm leaning towards is the GTX 1650 Super, but I have read that when you do graphic modding in games you want more VRAM. Any advice, help, relation to a card or brand, Anything would be helpful. I would like to try to stay 60FPS or higher for 1080 resoultion on ULTRA settings specifically for Fallout 4/Skyrim "IF" possible. https://www.newegg.com/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-1650-super-gv-n165swf2oc-4gd/p/N82E16814932231?Item=N82E16814932231&Description=1650 super&cm_re=1650_super-_-14-932-231-_-Product Games I play are (Fallout 4 / Skyrim SE Very heavily modded with 2K/4K graphics), ARK Survival Evolved, GTA V, Watch Dogs 2, Just Cause 4, Space Engineers. (Tried to think of all titles I play that would be most graphic and demanding, all others are lower spec.) Budget: $200 - $220ish System Specs: CPU: i7-4790K (non overclocked) MOBA: Asus Maximus VII Formula RAM: 32GB Corsair Dominator 1866MHz DDR3 PSU: Corsair RM850X Don't know if it matters but: Corsair 850 Evo 256GB SSD (Boot), Seagate 1TB 7200RMP HDD (Games) **Dead GPU: AMD R9 290X Lightning Edition 4GB** Screen 1: LG 32" 1080i TV (HDMI) NOT a typo " i " is correct not " p ". Screen 2: 19" Random 1080p (VGA) I used a DisplayPort to VGA adapter. Screen 3: 19" Random 1080p (VGA) I used a DVI-D to VGA adapter.
  2. I don't really need features, I mostly just play on a 1080i TV. 90% of the time I play Fallout 4 or Skyrim SE heavily modded. I would like a "new" compaired to "used" so if I have issues down the road its on me rather than being lied to. I just don't trust "used" when it comes to PC parts.
  3. I am looking for a cheap replacement, my R9 290X Lightning 4GB died. I have been looking for something a little better or close to it but still under 200$. I found two that look promising but I did a comparison between the two of them and the GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER WINDFORCE OC 4GB (169.99$) is better than GIGABYTE Radeon RX 580 GAMING 8GB (184.99$). Am I not looking right or which one is actually better? EDIT: Isn't 8GB of Vram better than 4GB? 4. !Update! While playing Railway Empire for about 30min... black screen, card was very hot to touch, sensor said max of 87C. So guessing everything was signs of it dying. Time to use intergrated graphics
  5. Don't be sorry I appreciate the help! I'm not a fan of adapters either just lack of money to get updated monitors. But I know now that basically I need to get a new GPU. Thank you for all your help!!
  6. I gave that a shot and didn't change anything. I went even future on that hail mary and done a complete reinstall of windows with up-to-date drivers.
  7. My GPU has 4 ports. 2 DVI-I, 1 HDMI, and 1 Displayport. Monitor #1 I use DVI-I to VGA adapter. Monitor#2 I use Displayport to VGA adapter. TV I use HDMI. I am only running 1 monitor at the moment with displayport. If I try using any other combination of ports (together) or (alone) I get black screens.
  8. I don't have DisplayPort to DVI-I. Its Displayport to VGA, and DVI-I to VGA. I have 2 VGA monitors and TV is only HDMI. The only thing that is working is the Displayport to VGA (monitor).
  9. The DVI-I adapter looks like it uses all the pins. Yes, I used 2 monitors. 1 for the displayport to VGA adapter and 1 for the DVI-I to VGA adapter. So far: HDMI to TV alone - black HDMI with any other port - black Displayport adapter alone - GOOD Displayport adapter with DVI-I adapter (2 monitors) - black DVI-I adapter alone - black Sorry for confusion with typing.
  10. I am having issues with mine was well. If i use any combination of ports I get black screens, but if i only use displayport everything is fine. I have up to date drivers.
  11. I will give that a try. Update: I tried adding the DVI-I with the Displayport and got black screen. I tried just the DVI-I and black screen. So far just the Displayport alone is working.
  12. Yes with just TV on HDMI port 2 I got black screens. If I only use a monitor without TV using displayport I do not get black screens.
  13. Yeah I tried just the TV with HDMI. I don't have another TV, but I did try a HDMI/VGA adapter to a monitor and I still had the black screens. With both HDMI plugged in and the Displayport/VGA plugged in both screens go black. Just the Displayport/VGA adapter alone I'm not having any issues. I have a DVI-I/VGA adapter but haven't tried a 2nd monitor (non TV) yet.
  14. I had drivers from back in July and everything was working fine, then sunday night is when I got my 1st black screen. I was playing skyrim special edition and got a black screen, I restarted the computer and just watched netflix but about 10min into a video on fullscreen it went black again. Each time I was forced to shutdown manually. I checked my drivers after that and seen they were the July ones so I updated to the most recent ones for Sept.
  15. Little back story was getting black screens every time I opened a game or a certain applications that would use my GPU with HDMI (GPU to TV 1080i (Yes I ment "I" not "P") with a second monitor Displayport/VGA adapter to Monitor 1080p. I changed the cables from PSU to GPU thinking one could be bad, but still was doing it. I even tried a single HDMI/VGA adapter to Monitor 1080p res and same (black screens) whenever I would open a game or applications. I removed the HDMI to TV and just ran (Displayport/VGA adapter to Monitor 1080p res) and everything I working fine, no black screens and can run games and applications. Is this a sign that the GPU is dying? Is my PSU dying? I got it working but I miss having multiple monitors for when I do work with multiple sites or notes open. If anyone could leave some information I would greatly appreciate it so I know if I need to get a new part or if its a software or bios issue. I'm in the dark here lol. System specs: CPU - i7-4790K (not overclocked) HeatSink - Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo (x2 120mm fans) Moba - Asus Maximus Formula VII Ram - Corsair Dominator 4x8GB 1866Mhz (32GB total) GPU - AMD R9 290X Lightning Edition 4GB SSD - Samsung 850 Evo 256GB (Boot Drive) HDD - Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM (Games / Files / Ect) PSU - Corsair RM850X Fully Modular Fans - Arctic Cooling P14 Fluid Dynamic Bearing 140mm (x6)
  16. GPU is R9 290X Lightning. CPU is i7-4790K. (Nothing O/C). Moba is Asus Maximus Formula VII. 32GB DDR3 1333Mhz Corsair Dominator. PSU is Corsair RM850X. I have completely redone windows, removed all old drivers and got new ones. Tried a CMOS clear.
  17. I just recently started having issues when I open games, browsing the web and stuff is ok, but as soon as the game opens my screens go black. I have troubleshooted the issue but not sure if its the GPU or PSU. If I use HDMI + Display Port = black screens. Just Display Port = black screen, Just HDMI = black screen, but if I use the DVI port only games run fine and no black screen.
  18. Thank you will do this. If it loads up normal like -1min before, its a software issues and I should prob do fresh install of windows?
  19. Fresh install was probally about 1 1/2 year ago. The SSD has 63GB free on it. How would I do safemode? Pretty much only thing other than windows on my SSD is like discord, google, steam, skyrim SE and my mods for it (for load times vs HDD).
  20. I keep my computer clean as I can (disk cleanups, defragments) but as of this past few weeks my pc takes 20+ min to get to windows login screen (after bios the circle spinny thing to login). I have a 250GB Samsung 850 Evo for windows (boot drive), 1TB HDD for games, ASUS Maximus Formula VII moba. Im half tempted to do a complete restore and redo windows but if I can get around doing that it would be a great thing. Would doing a CMOS clear help at all or am I going in the wrong direction?
  21. Is "Display Driver Uninstaller" a program? I do have a update for the driver right now but haven't done it. I have a AMD card. (290X Lightning)
  22. I was watching a stream on twitch and my screens went black! 1 HDMI, 1 Display Port. I restarted the PC manually. After bios circle screen was done and everything was going to windows login screen, everything went black again. I tried without Display Port plugged in and it booted fine to windows. As soon as I plugged in the Display Port I get black screens again (both of them). Anyone have any ideas?
