  1. Who would buy it? Whoever needs it. In a conventional case, you shouldn't buy it but if someone is making a bespoke piece that requires that part then you buy that part in order to fit the vision. It's not a product that makes sense for Linus, it's not a product that makes sense for you. 800$ is a lot of money but it's not unobtainable. People still occasionally build $ 8,000 PCs, $800 for a unique item that might be an interesting centerpiece is reasonable. There is a version of this built for the 4090, it is not quite yet outdated.
  2. Fair, I should have included that I did understand that in spite of The Washington Post accurately reporting the inaccuracy or corruption in the Times there would still be a conflict of interest. In the context of how GamersNexus calling out the failures of LTT their history of accurate reporting and integrity should also be considered which is why the comparison to the Washington Post and Times is more accurate than Pepsi and Coke. GamersNexus will not remove the video if LTT resolves their issues but have a history of doing follow-ups when the problems have been resolved or if they have not been addressed bringing those issues back up in the follow-ups.
  3. Ok, gotcha, you just worded your position too strongly, and as a result, it was brittle. My Failing was to assume that the context was about GamersNexus reviewing LTT. Sorry abou that.
  4. How do you figure that? We are talking about LTT and GamersNexus, two companies that in the past have done exposés on other companies in the tech field, this behavior is precedented. The comparison to the Washington Post and Times is not without merit as those two companies have set expectations of reporting in that fashion. Coke and Pepsi have set no such expectations and have no established history of integrity. Please elaborate on how the comparison to Coke and Pepsi is more fitting.
  5. People are calling it theft because it is technically theft. Billet sent the product out for review and then requested it back, it's the property of Billet, and whether intentional or not the property was never returned and instead sold to a third party. It's theft regardless of what tool you cut it with. If I were to borrow your PS5 then request it back and I agreed to give it back but then I sold it to someone else, whether I intended to steal from you doesn't matter, I stole from you.
  6. Your video on PC Audio product Scams got me wondering if you would consider examining something like the Zoom uac-232 or Rode NT-1 Generation 5. Consumer grade audio input devices with 32-bit SPL that deliver “unclippable” 32-bit float digital output. These devices claim to remove the need for a Gain knob because 32-bit SPL delivers a "Near infinite level of gain" allowing the user to reclaim in post clipped audio or boost quiet audio without introducting noise, if this is true it might be a new paradym in audio recording equiptment.
  7. Don't know if this is a linus meme but I bought an old server today to practice setting up VSphere remote desktops and maybe didn't get the best price but still a the price was pretty nice.
  8. I'm looking for a IP doorbell/camera that doesn't need a subscription or storage. Basically just an if this than that door bell with an IP camera. Does that exist?
  9. Deleting windows and installing linux for a relative becuase I didnt know how to bipass a local user password or how to authenticate a fresh install of windows without purchasing a key. They were left with a computer that they didn't know how to use. Sorry, I was a noob.
  10. Hi all, I'm working IT for a small school and we need to set up a conferencing room. I'm trying to figure out the most turn key solution. A solution the teachers cant possibly mess up. Something that doesn't require me to be in the building to diagnose audio/video configuration issues. A solution that would allow your parents to seamlessly use Zoom, Meet, or Teams without finding a way to constantly Bork it. I was thinking maybe a smartTV with a webcam but I've never used a solution like that so I don't know if it would work. I was also wondering if their might be a Linux solution, something that maybe doesn't look like a desktop environment and just has the bare minimum options to open the necessary applications. Like think dementia phone operating systems where everything is really big and extraneous features like settings are axed for ease of use. Any ideas?
  11. Yeah maybe but at first glance they only have RCA in and I don't want to complicate things with a toslink to RCA converter.
  12. Hi, I'm wondering if anyone knows of a good wireless headphone or earbud solution for watching tv. They've tried an avantree audicast plus which in theory is a solid solution but it doesn't reliably pair with their Bluetooth headphones. Their tv also has Bluetooth built-in but it doesn't automatically pair to the headphone so they have to navigate the menus everytime they turn on the tv and they can't do that So what I'm looking for is the most dead simple to use toslink to Bluetooth/wireless transmitter, something that is basically set and forget. Anyone have any suggestions?
  13. Thanks for offering help, it turns out that 2 of the HP switches died the weekend before I started work. Twas a bad time.
  14. I just started a new job out of college as IT, and today was my first day. The internet went down last friday and I cant figure out how to get it back up. We have a Cisco router that outputs to a D-link switch. This switch is connected to our domain controller an application server and a couple of server room computers, These computers have internet access. The D-link switch has 16 ports about 12 are being used 1 - application server, 2 - DC, 3 - My IT computer, 4 - Goes to the switch room in the basement, the rest are used for VOIP and security The Cable that goes to the switch room connects to an HP 1800-24 which splits into 2 other HP 1800-24s and a couple patch panels. I cant seem to get the internet to propagate these switches. I've talked to the previous IT guy and He suggested I reboot the Cisco router and the HP switches and just let the routing tables do their thing but that didn't work. I'm currently trying to map out the network and figure it out but I don't really know what to do. Any suggestions? All computers have network connection to connect to the Domain Controller but the Network storage isn't accessible. I can only connect to 1 switches web portal when I wire my laptop to it, the other 2 don't give my anything.
  15. I'm working on a school project and I accidentally deleted the testing database I wrote last semester when reformatting my system and was wondering if there is a faster, easier option for testing Ajax request, rather than rewriting the thing in PHP? Something like Postman but in reverse?
  16. Well we might have very different opinions on the Far Cry series, I'm of the opinion that it peaked at 3 then stagnated but if you really like it I can respect that. The thing is it would have been so much easier for them to have just done Far Cry, they could have reused a lot of environmental assets and their artists would have already been primed to work with that type of environment. Instead they chose to start from nothing and learn how to craft the complete opposite of what they know, they took a radical gamble and I absolutely admire it.
  17. You might be right, Cyberpunk isn't GTA V its more like Farcry in a city environment and when I think about it like that then yeah this really is a "true next gen RPG" its a very very very good Farcry game. Unfortunately for Cyberpunk its environment is most similar to GTA V and in comparison it really showcases how great GTA V has become after several years of updates; that work I would argue justifies it to be released again on next gen consoles, cause it really isn't the same game that was 7 years ago.
  18. I must be missing something here. Like I get that cyberpunk isn't a perfect game but were people really expecting more than this? Its a new IP from a company who did the Witcher and its very different from the Witcher. Like comparing it to GTA 5 is fair but also keep in mind that GTA 5, its systems and mechanics are the result of several iterations while this is CDPR first attempt at something in this vein, going from wood and horses to concrete and cars doesn't really have a lot of overlap.(The design document alone for this must have been so difficult for these guys to write) To me the fact that they made something this OK is impressive enough, and its a pretty solid foundation to work off of when they make their next game that utilizes and iterates off of many of these newly produced software assets. Side-note: CDPR in spite of their current stock standings is going to be fine, this was a big gamble for the company but the result of the gamble being that now they no longer have to only produce games set in mid-evil times, they are a much more capable company as a result of this OK game.
  19. I know its late but I only just had this issue my self and worked around it using OBS virtual cam, it unfortunate requires that OBS is running in the background and it mirror your current OBS Scene as a camera. Zoom recognized OBS virtual camera just fine for me. link for OBS - https://obsproject.com/ link for OBS virtual cam dll - https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/obs-virtualcam.949/
  20. @Aljaxus Thank you so much for your reply, i've been chewing on it for a few weeks now and it really put things into perspective for me. I've got my server up and running, I decided on WAMP because its pretty well documented and easy to set up. I've got a static public ip and its working. I loved the idea of using the web-server as a proxy server but my team opted to have the clients communicated directly to the application server. Frankly when you responded I didn't have the slightest clue what a proxy server was, or even what a web-server was. Again thank you so much I wouldn't have been able to even start this project without this post.
  21. I'm working on a project for school where we need to create a chat application for Android that communicates a website. We have never done anything that communicates over a web server and I'm having trouble understanding webserver communication. So we are creating an android application and will likely be using HttpURLConnect to send our Posts to the application server which will be written in Java using javalin( we've also never touched javalin) the application server will communicate with the database through a translation layer and then send back the requested information as a json object, the android application will interpret the json object locally to display the nessesary info. The same will be done through the web interface. Most of our communication will be updating and requesting chat logs from the database. That's sort of what I understand what's confusing me is that I was told that on-top of the application server we need a separate webserver for the web interface, and what I don't get is why do we need that and why can't the web interface simply communicate directly with the application server? Also I need to figure out how to set up an application server for testing locally. Any advice or book recommendations that cover these topics would be appreciated.
