  1. May I personally recommend APlusPhysics.com for help?
  2. Ended up going with the LG 27GN950, have everything in hand except for a CPU (Ryzen 5900X on backorder at B&H) to complete my setup.
  3. Looking for folks to help me spend my money... I'm chasing down a high-end monitor to replace an older 27" BenQ Zowie (1080p) in my office/man cave that will serve three purposes: A second monitor for my Retina 27" iMac for work (place on VESA mount attached to desk right beside the iMac, replacing the right-most monitor in the picture) Primary monitor for an in-process high-end Windows video editing / gaming build (Ryzen 9, 3080 graphics card) Eventually could be used as an output monitor for a PS5 The current contenders: LG 27GN950-B: 4K is nice for high resolution as a work monitor beside the 5K 27" iMac, and matches active screen size of iMac. Samsung G7 Odyssey 32": good gaming monitor and physical height matches height of iMac, but I wonder about 1440 resolution looking fuzzy with text relative to the sharp iMac, and also wondering if they've resolved the G-Sync flickering issue. LG 34GN850: height of active screen matches that of iMac, physically this is about as wide as I can go, but ultrawide format not optimal for potential future PS5 monitor Just wondering if anybody has any positive or negative reactions that can help me narrow down my choices (or even potentially expand them). Budget is ballpark <$1000 US. Thanks!
  4. Absolutely, hence the 64 GB. Just looking now for best 4 sticks of 16GB for my needs. Thank you!
  5. Looking for RAM recommendations (and where to potentially purchase) for a VR Gaming / Video Editing PC build... Ryzen 3900, nVidia 3080, M.2 NVME PCIe 4 SSDs. I'm trying to find four sticks of 16 GB for a total of 64 GB. Couldn't care a lick about RGB. I can find 3600 MHz RAM at CL 18, or 3200 MHz RAM at CL 16, but not having much luck at 3600 MHz CL 16 or under. Any recommendations from the experts (or alternate memory specs I should be searching for)? This will go into a Lian-Li O11 Dynamic XL case with (most likely) a Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master motherboard with an AIO cooler. Key games/applications are DCS in VR, MS Flight Simulator, and Adobe Premiere Pro / After Effects. Thanks!
  6. Howdy folks, Looking to build a high-end gaming rig from scratch as my first build, and hoping you can confirm or provide alternates to my thoughts on a case purchase. I don't mind paying a bit of a premium for quality and future-proofing. Background: Looking at a Ryzen 3900X build (or similar high-end AMD processor after October press release) with an ATX motherboard such as a Gigabyte X570 AORUS Master, and a 3080-series graphics card, with a couple of M.2 SSD's on the motherboard. Primary objectives with a case are strong cooling/airflow (thinking an Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360 mm AIO for the processor), plenty of room to build, easy access to clean dust filters, and easy-access USB-C connection for VR. I don't care a bit about RGB, and am probably happier with a case that doesn't have RGB. This will be my first build in ~ 20 years, so I'm also looking for a case that has plenty of room and makes things simple. Currently I'm leaning toward a Lian-Li O11 Dynamic XL case, and am hoping you can either confirm that as a great choice or provide a better alternative given my requirements. Thank you!
  7. I hadn't heard next gen Ryzen was coming in a few weeks, thanks for the heads up. I'm a bit worried about an air cooler for the CPU given the amount of heat I expect the 3080 to dump into the case (figured the graphics card pushes the heat right to the CPU, so the CPU air cooler has to do even more work -- not that an AIO is a tremendous improvement, but at least it leaves the inside of the case a bit more open for airflow. That was purely speculation on my part, however, and a big part of why I'm asking on this platform -- to get exactly those sorts of opinions. Thank you!
  8. Budget (including currency): $4K US Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: TeleStream Wirecast (to multiple simultaneous outputs), Adobe Premiere Pro / After Effects video processing, streaming Zoom and MS Teams meetings and webcasts coupled with live video to multiple live streams simultaneously. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Some general thoughts include: Ryzen 3900, nVidia 3080 2TB PCIe4 M.2 drive Elgato 4K60 Pro Would like motherboard to support > 1GB Ethernet as we are planning out 10 GB infrastructure, but also need WiFi as this system may occasionally be used in other settings, and should have room to add an additional M.2 SSD in the future. I also don't want to skimp on USB bandwidth on the motherboard as the system must support multiple inputs for audio and video. Build is for a professional setting, so no RGB. Want to make sure system is quiet with plenty of available cooling... I'm thinking an AIO cooler for the processor? Love to hear your thoughts and recommendations!
