    G-Sync Issues

So basically if I am above 120FPS i should always have v-sync turned on? Also I noticed this: I did the Nvidia test for g-sync vs v-sync vs nothing. I noticed that vsync and gsync at 40FPS looks the same like literally identical. But when I turn them both off i noticed a big different in screen tearing at 40fps. So I am confused about if the G-sync and V-sync and why they are the exact same? Isnt G-sync supposed to be better?

    G-Sync Issues

Can someone please help me on this. Basically what I have noticed is on my Alienware 34 Monitor AW3418DW I have noticed the G-Sync maybe is not working properly. For example I will go into a game like Insurgency Sandstorm and with Vsync off I noticed a bit of screen tearing and just not as smooth. When i turn on vsync this issue goes away..... I have G-Sync enabled in the nvidia control panel, and I am able to run the game at my resolution at above 100FPS. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong here or what it could be? Could it be that my monitor needs to be update or something?
  3. Thats what I said for 1440p would 10GB be enough?
  4. Does the PS5 and XBOX have the same rendering power as a RTX 3080?
  5. Does anyone know if this game could be ok with a 3440x1440p monitor? I am talking about running it on ULTRA settings on a RTX 3080. Let me know if you have any ideas!
  6. I tested this in games and the VRAM allocation can drop 2-3GB sometimes when DLSS is activated. For example Control, or Metro Exodus
  7. What do you mean by sub-30? I ran GTA on my computer maxed out and didnt have lower than 30FPS. Is this what you mean or did I misunderstand ?
  8. He was mentioning thats not accurate though
  9. There is so many mixed opinions here! I wonder if next gen gaming like games in late 2021 will be able to be handled with 10gb vram on ultra with an rtx 3080
  10. But there is really nothing that shows 10GB is not enough yet!! Not one video showing that due to VRAM the game is not running properly and is limited etc. Thats the part im confused. Because how much VRAM is allocated i learned today has a big difference between how much vram is actually being used. So far I have no issues, I can try Ghost Recon Breakpoint and let you guys know if I notice issues with stuttering. I feel like if the VRAM was such a big deal, how come big youtubers are not talking about it?
  11. I can run that game without a single issue on all ultra setting 3440x1440p usually around 80-100FPS sometimes drops to 70 maybe, but not stuttering or texture issues or any other issues. So does this mean the VRAM is ok?
  12. The thing is that I have a very expensive g-sync monitor and I really dont want to get an AMD card..... But at the same time right now I dont feel so good about what I am hearing about the RTX 3080..... I spent so much money on my setup, I sure hope that there is some false information about the VRAM issues. But then again will see soon! Worst case I can resell my GPU and get a 3080ti if something like that is available in about 6 months or less!
  13. What is a game that uses a lot of vram? Let me know and I will put it to the test to see if i notice anything. I will post results here!
  14. What about DLSS 2.0? And also I have been running my rtx 3080 in a few games and have not noticed these issues of stuttering etc. Sometimes it says 9.5gb is being used on the VRAM but i dont notice a single thing. The game runs very well at high fps, and im actually really picky with noticing issues during gaming. This is why I am confused if this whole VRAM thing is an actual issue or something that isnt very important. I tried many games so far and have no noticed a single thing. Sometimes I even run games at 5K resolution since I have an ultra wide and everything runs extremely well!! So I am a bit confused with whats going on here and so many people seem to have different opinions. I guess one thing that seems right is how much vram is allocated vs used. Maybe games dont need as much vram as we might think??
  15. Also what do you think about games coming out in the next 6 months, the true next gen gaming. Do you think VRAM could be an issue at that time for someone who is playing on 1440p like me?
  16. On my 1440p monitor i ran FS on high settings and was getting around 65FPS, sometimes it would dip to like 45FPS but even a RTX 3090 has this issue with this game... Am i right on that?
  17. oh right i didnt know this, so there is a need and allocation and thats the big difference. Is there a way to truly be able to tell what is being use? my friend was mentioning to me that if I was to run everything ultra on a demanding game for example, he was saying that your texture might be running on ultra but really its high not ultra because of your limited vram and blah blah so im a big confused about this
  18. Sorry are you saying 10GB is not enough or it is? I didnt quite understand
  19. Only issue is my monitor is quite expensive and it has g sync, thats why I rather stick to nvidia but im just worried about all of these mixed opinions lol
  20. Yeah I am a bit worried because the RTX 3080 was not a cheap card at the end of the day. And to not be able to run games on ultra already thats pretty fucking retarded. Thats like nvidia scamming us...
  21. I mean i did my own test on my RTX 3080 ASUS TUF OC. I tried warzone for example and was using 9.8GB vram. But I could not tell a differnce in textures or anything at all. There was not FPS drops or stuttering. I am running a 3440x1440p monitor and I even have RTX enabled in warzone, and I dont see my FPS going below 110FPS
